Normally, I write a review after 10 chapters. However, I got so sucked into this one that I was at chapter 48 when writing this. Overall, I have been very impressed and the story is a great read! The story is a Middle Age/Renaissance fantasy setting. So far it is relatively light on magic (though more magic/magic items are getting seen as the story progresses), fantasy races are mentioned but no character to date is said to come from one, and really I liked the way dungeons were handled in the world building. It is different perspective on dungeons than I have read before, but there are so many books that talk about dungeons. That I am sure someone else has written something similar. However, the key talk away is the the way they are handled actually is very believable within the story and helps drive the story forward, so it is not just a gimmick. Next, there is a heavy dose of Noble inter-family politics and local court (Baronial level so far) affairs. Also, domain level development has been hinted at, but nothing too major within the first 48 chapters. With the ground work already laid/hinted at, this will probably play a bigger part later on in the story. In addition, though no fighting has happened to date. Based on where the story is heading that appears to be coming as well. The world building is excellent and parsed out throughout the chapters (I especially want to say I love the little details like past events between two characters and the historical info nuggets that add a sense feel/realism to the characters and background history). Though, I should say the Noble family relations are bit complex/hard to track. However, it to adds to the level of realism, since that is exactly how it worked in history, and is very important element to this type of story.
