82.35% King Ember's Journey to Teyvat / Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Witch Fearful of Knowledge

Capítulo 14: Chapter 14: The Witch Fearful of Knowledge

Ember still maintained a pensive look, but his thoughts seemed to wander off somewhere.

"What do you mean by that?" Lisa couldn't keep her calm anymore. She stood up from her chair, and her lively eyes were filled with astonishment.

The fear of knowledge was deeply ingrained in Lisa's heart. Many people found it perplexing, but Lisa knew that those people's depth of knowledge was nowhere near hers, so they naturally wouldn't understand what she feared.

Just as she had just said, the cost of pursuing knowledge is often unimaginable. The Scarlet King was like this, and so was Khaenri'ah five hundred years ago.

"Abyss... sky... beneath the abyss, is the sky? What does that mean, tell me!" Lisa reached out and placed her hands on Ember's shoulders, looking at him with eager eyes.

Ember was startled by Lisa's sudden movement. He was just being absent-minded, not expecting to hit the mark so accurately.

After thinking for a moment, Ember could only try to divert the topic for now.

He looked at Lisa and said, "Weren't you afraid of knowledge? Why are you curious now?"

Lisa's face stiffened at his words. She looked warily at a small door in the distance of the library, then carefully examined her own thoughts.

"Phew!" Lisa let out a sigh of relief, patting her chest. Exploring the origin of the world always attracted forbidden existences.

Fortunately, the discussion just now was just scratching the surface, and everything was still normal.

Then she noticed Ember's face getting closer to hers.

"It's big!" Ember exclaimed in surprise. It was the first time he realized it could be lifted.

"Oh? Does Mr. Ember have this kind of hobby?" Lisa couldn't help but laugh when she saw Ember staring at her so intently.

"No, it's just the first time I've seen this thing can be lifted. Just curious." Ember didn't feel embarrassed at all, speaking calmly.

"Does it make it clearer now?" Lisa unexpectedly pulled Ember into her embrace!

"Wow! You... You..." Now it was Ember's turn to panic.

[Lanayru, Leliana, your king has been defiled!]Ember kept wiping his helmet with his hands, as if there was something dirty on it.

"?" Lisa looked at Ember's flustered appearance and couldn't help but find it very amusing. For someone as knowledgeable and powerful as Ember, to act like this... well, it was quite innocent.

[Seems like I've found a weakness in Mr. Ember.]Lisa felt a bit of mischief in her heart, then she covered her mouth and chuckled:

"I'm just paying Mr. Ember back for helping me understand. As a librarian, I have no money or power, so this is all I can do."

After speaking, Lisa innocently spread her hands.

"Oh? Really?" Ember naively believed her.

Then he said with a serious tone, "Lisa, let me tell you, those who ask for this kind of reward are most likely not good people. If you ever have any doubts, you can come to me, I won't ask for anything."

"Hahaha!" Lisa couldn't help but burst into laughter at Ember's babbling.

"What are you laughing at? I'm serious." Ember put on a serious face, although it couldn't be seen under the helmet.

"I understand, I'll come to you if I have any questions in the future." Lisa continued to laugh heartily, holding her stomach.

After a while, under Ember's gaze, Lisa stopped laughing. She tidied her messy hair and said softly to Ember in front of her:

"Thank you!"

"Thank you for what?"

"I mean, you idiot!"

"???"

"Alright, from now on, I'll call you Little Idiot! Little Idiot~"

Ember looked at Lisa with black lines all over his head, feeling a bit unable to keep up with Lisa's thoughts.

Where was he stupid? His intelligence was top-notch, even in this world, he considered himself among the top batch.

But he didn't mind. Ember could tell that Lisa didn't actually think he was a fool.

If she wanted to call him that, then so be it. It wouldn't hurt him, and she seemed happy doing it.

"Okay, it's getting late, I should go back, or those two little ones at home will cause trouble again." Ember looked out the window, seeing the pitch-black darkness, he felt it was time to leave.

"See you tomorrow, Little Idiot~" Lisa sat back in her chair, waving at Ember.

"Yeah." Ember nodded and walked towards the door.

"Oh, and in the future, you can be more daring. I see further than you do, and I understand more than you do."

"Knowledge won't attract taboos. On the contrary, the darkness of human nature is the greatest taboo."

"Remember, if your body becomes non-human, I can still pull you back, but if your soul becomes non-human, then I can only say sorry."

Ember thought for a moment, feeling that there were no loopholes, and continued, "That's it."

"Bye bye~"

After hearing Ember's words, Lisa remained silent for a long time. Eventually, the library echoed with her relieved whisper:

"Hehe, innocence and erudition, who is the real you?"

"And, what you said, I learned on my first day of school, idiot~"

...

As the night approached in Mondstadt, it became quiet. The only sound on the streets was the clanging of Ember's armor.

"Hyah! Hah!" Suddenly, there was a girl's shout beside him. Ember looked over and saw a breathless girl standing in an empty space below him.

In front of her were several battered wooden stakes, showing signs of being struck repeatedly.

The girl rested for a moment before continuing to swing at the stakes. It seemed that due to the lack of inheritance, the girl was only blindly swinging without any other movements.

Ember watched for a while and realized that she was just swinging, apart from exercising her body, there was little other benefit.

Checking the time and seeing the girl's sweaty forehead, Ember felt he should help her.

But let's wait and see first. Giving power should be done with caution, he needed to make sure the girl wasn't just acting on impulse.

With that in mind, Ember retracted his head. He'd come back tomorrow morning to check again.

Ember quietly left, leaving behind the panting Ellin who felt something. She looked up and saw someone had just been here, right?

Shaking her head to clear irrelevant thoughts, Ellin rubbed her sore arms. Today's goal wasn't accomplished yet, she couldn't slack off!

"Crack!" "Hyah!" After a brief silence, the sound of the girl's struggle resounded once again in the small open space.

"Phew! It's finally about time." Ember saw a house not far away still lit up, and his steps quickened.

"Click!" Pushing the door open, Ember saw Galara and Collei playing around.

"It seems like you have a lot of energy! Tell me, what did you gain today?" Ember looked at the girls in their pajamas

 and asked.

"Nothing, the stories were very interesting, but I didn't understand anything!" Galara was the first to answer.

"Walk more, do some things similar to those in the miracles, try to comprehend the emotions involved." Ember answered casually.

Not feeling troubled at all by Galara's lack of understanding, because he already knew the outcome.

Even the simplest miracles weren't something a beginner could grasp in just one day.

"It's difficult, the conclusions in the books are often counterintuitive, I've only just finished a quarter of the book in one day, and much of it was just skimmed over." Collei wasn't as carefree as Galara, finding Ember's book a bit challenging to read and worried she wouldn't understand.

"It's normal, don't worry, as long as there's no hindrance to your intelligence, learning will happen sooner or later. Plus, you're fast, you're talented." Ember was slightly surprised by Collei's words, not expecting her to have a talent for learning prayer.

Feeling pleasantly surprised, he remembered something and said, "Tomorrow, let's go out and deal with the residual demon remnants in your bodies. It's a hidden danger after all, it's not good to leave it."

"And Collei's illness needs to be treated too."

Collei and Galara, after hearing Ember's words, were momentarily stunned. They had almost forgotten about that dark period of their lives during their long days of normalcy.

But soon, smiles returned to their faces because they trusted Ember. With him around, there was no trouble they couldn't solve.
