Capítulo 13: Chapter 13: Ember - Love Learning

Inside a inconspicuous small house in Mondstadt, Ember, Galara, and Collei were preparing to study.

Ember wanted to learn about the common knowledge of this world, while Galara and Collei were studying knowledge unrelated to this world.

"Ah~ It's so difficult, why can't I understand anything!" Galara looked at the thick book "Elemental Magic Basics" with a pained expression on her face.

When Ember said he would teach them how to use powers without relying on the Vision, she was the most excited. Unfortunately, that excitement was quickly shattered by the brick-like magic book.

In comparison, Collie was doing much better. She had the "New Compilation of Hunting Deity Prayers" in her hands.

After Professor Toppes proved that prayer and magic came from the same source, Ember guided Toppes, Selem, Rani, Melina, Lenara, Gedvin, Mikaela, and others to summarize and simplify the existing magic and prayers at the borderlands.

And those two books, "Elemental Magic Basics" and "New Compilation of Hunting Deity Prayers," were their masterpieces.

These two books greatly simplified the learning difficulty of magic and prayer. Even someone like Collie, who had no knowledge of magic prayers, could get started by reading the translated versions by Ember.

As for Galara, she was just clumsy.

"Ember big brother, is there something simpler? This is too difficult!" Seeing Galara's pleading expression, Ember could only search from his more distant memories.

Then he thought of miracles.

Miracles, the great achievements of the ancient gods. Learning about miracles meant learning about the deeds of the ancient gods.

The more one believed in the miracles recorded, the greater the power released. For someone as clueless as Galara, this was the most suitable.

Ember took out some yellowed papers, on which were depicted the glory of the fiery era.

He gently touched these papers, even though the era of fire had ended, even though he had killed the ancient gods one by one, the emotions and shock brought by these miracles to him seemed to be right in front of him.

So, now he was also a creator of miracles.

"Here, read these deeds. The more you believe, the more power you will have." Ember handed these yellowed papers to Galara.

Galara had never seen Ember's expression just now. For a moment, she felt like Ember had turned into an old man reminiscing about his youth.

She carefully accepted these papers and nodded heavily to Ember, saying, "Ember big brother, don't worry, I won't let you down."

Seeing Galara's careful expression, Ember couldn't help but smile. He said:

"I'm not that fragile. Instead of worrying about me, worry about yourself. If you can't even learn miracles, then you're really foolish."

Then he thought of something else and cautioned Galara:

"The deeds of the ancient gods are indeed inspiring. But you must remember, those are all things of the past. Learning about miracles is not about becoming a remnant of the old era, but about becoming a person who can create miracles!"

"A person who can create miracles?" Galara looked at Ember and confidently said, "I will, Ember big brother."

Ember nodded. With such determination, his guidance was not in vain.

Then he turned back to his "Guide to Teyvat Tourism," a good book, but unfortunately only the Mondstadt section.

For Ember, with an intelligence far beyond 99 points, reading these books generally wouldn't take more than ten minutes.

He still had many questions unanswered, such as how the hilichurls turned from humans into monsters, what was the Delusion, what was the Vision, and why he always felt like someone was watching him from the sky, and so on.

It seemed like he was mixing in some strange questions, but this might just be his imagination.

Anyway, Ember had many questions, so it seemed like he needed to visit the library.

Thinking about it, Ember stood up and said to Galara and Collei:

"I'm going to the library. I'll be back in the evening, take care of dinner yourselves."

"Oh."

"Bye."

Galara and Collei didn't even raise their heads, indicating that they had moved on from their past dependence on him in these days.

Leaving the house, the sun was shining brightly.

Today's Mondstadt was still lively, but this liveliness was somewhat unusual.

"Did you hear? The Fatui let the culprit in the Black Flame case escape!"

"Oh? I thought they were so powerful, but it turns out they can't even keep track of a criminal."

"I heard the Fatui suffered heavy losses, and a new batch of people came to Mondstadt from the Snezhnaya!"

"What's the name of the new executive officer again? It seems like it's a Signora!"

...

Ember's ears twitched. A new executive officer? This was a big deal. He hoped the new executive officer would be polite. Otherwise, Ember would have to invite her to dinner and have a heart-to-heart talk.

After living here for some time, Ember had already roughly grasped the structure of Mondstadt, so finding the library was not difficult for him.

The library of Mondstadt was located in the Knights of Favonius headquarters building and was open to everyone.

After explaining his intentions to the knights standing next to the headquarters building, Ember entered the building.

Pushing open the door of the hall, a two-story library appeared in front of Ember's eyes. It was hard to imagine that there was such a large space inside the Knights of Favonius headquarters building.

The library was not lacking in people, as Ember's arrival wasn't early, and many places in the library already had people.

Finding an empty seat at random, Ember began his journey of study.

As the books on the table decreased bit by bit and time passed, Ember's doubts did not decrease but increased.

Most of the books he read were about mountain and wilderness legends or bardic poems, seemingly nothing strange.

But Ember still saw the problem. Leaving aside the ancient war of the archons thousands of years ago, something seemed to have happened five hundred years ago.

All the books avoided mentioning that event, at most mentioning it in passing.

"Dong! Dong! Dong!" In the late night library with only Ember, he didn't hesitate to knock on the table.

"Forget it, some things are more interesting to discover by oneself." Ember stopped tapping his fingers on the table, fully engaged but feeling a bit bored.

"I didn't expect Mr. Ember to be a lover of books?" A lazy and charming voice came from the second floor.

Ember looked up and saw a beautiful woman leaning on the railing.

With a large witch hat, a light purple dress paired with black stockings that went all the way to her thighs, exuding both intellect and allure—it was the librarian Lisa.

"Newcomer's first time in Mondstadt, how do you feel, Mr. Ember?" Lisa initiated the conversation.

"Excellent! I've never seen such a vibrant city!" Speaking of Mondstadt, Ember praised it generously.

And it was true.

Hearing Ember's praise for Mondstadt, Lisa felt happy too. As someone who cared about Mondstadt, she liked to hear praise for the city.

"Mr. Ember has read so

many books, do you have any questions? Perhaps I can help." Lisa asked Ember. She had read at least eighty percent of the books here.

"Do I have questions? Forget it, exploring the unknown is a rare pleasure." Ember shook his head with a smile.

"Exploring the unknown? That's... hmm, the thinking of a beginner." Lisa remembered something and sighed:

"Knowledge can bring disasters."

"Smart people always think more, under the abyss lies not only the deep, but also the sky. At least, I've seen the sky."

"And you, are still trapped in the deep sea."

Ember glanced at Lisa meaningfully and said lightly.
