Mai was jumping branch by branch and reloaded the magazine of her gun. She quickly flipped the gun and as if it had a mind of its own, changed and transformed into an assault rifle resembling a Galil.
Maki arrived dashing faster than Mai and blocked the bullets with a shield.
Mai's aim was greatly superior to a gunner and she was able to handle the recoil of her gun with one hand while simultaneously aiming for different parts of Maki but she was too fast and blocked them all.
Maki stopped on a tree branch and pulled out a spear and aimed it at Mai.
"Give me a break!" Mai shouted as she saw what her sister was about to do.
Maki held her spear and aimed it at Mai like a javelin. "Clench your teeth, Mai!"
With her shout, she threw it at lightning speed ripping through the air and before a second had even passed, the spear had already arrived at Mai who was waiting with her shield. The block was blocked but even with it, it pushed her off the tree she was standing on and made her crash into another one break it off and falling to the ground. Her helmet glowed blue a bit before dimming.
Mai grabbed her shoulder in pain and groaned. "Urgh... at least hold back a little." Her arm had dislocated due to the pressure that the spear held when it crashed into the shield.
"This is gonna hurt." Mai muttered before putting her arm back to its place. She muffled her scream of pain by biting on her sleeve.
Grabbing her gun, she changed form once again but this time it was a ballista sniper rifle. She looked around to see no one, even after using her monocle, she could not see where Maki was. It was as if she disappeared. Her eyes were not going to keep track of Maki who was sneaking around, deciding to utilize her ears. Mai held her sniper close to her body waiting for any sudden movement.
And it didn't take long as she heard the sound of wind being ripped. Immediately she turned to its location and aimed with her rifle. 'Got you.' She thought as her hand was placed on the trigger.
Mai was about to shoot but her eyes widened in surprise as what she found was not her sister but a spear coming right at her. She heard the sound of wind being ripped again but behind her. Maki had arrived behind her and curled her arm back to deliver a strike.
But stuck between a spear and Maki, Mai gritted her teeth and shot at the spear breaking it apart with a loud boom. The recoil of the sniper pushed it out Mai's hands but the sniper slowly transformed into a Beneli M4 shotgun.
It felt as time slowed down, Maki was about to deliver a strike to Mai's chest while Mai had grabbed the gun and only need to aim lower and pull the trigger.
Unfortunately in this encounter, Maki was faster.
With a full powered strike to her chest, Mai was launched away and coughed up all the air she held in her lungs. Though the strike hit her hard, she still managed to get ahold of her weapon and aimed it at Maki. The barrel fired and the pullets hit Maki on the shoulder and launched her back.
"Damn it." The helmet on Mai glowed blue one last time before cracking and falling apart.
It was helping her mitigate the damage she received but now she had no more defensive curse tools left. Equipped with only her knife, Mai stood up against Maki who walked towards her. Her shoulder was bloodied due to her gun but it seemed that it wasn't too deep.
"Nice, a shotgun for close range is never a bad answer." Maki complimented. "But-"
To the look of horror of Mai, Maki simply put pressure against her wound and popped out the pellets imbedded in her skin. The pellets looked as if they had hit a steel wall and crushed itself. "That's not going to be nearly enough."
"You shittin' me."
"'Course I am not."
Cracking her knuckles and neck, Maki walked up to a boulder and pierced a hole through it.
"Oh no."
And lifted the boulder higher than her shoulder, with the intent to throw it.
"You better run."
Mai tapped her boots letting the curse energy flow before Maki threw the gigantic boulder at her. Her knees bended and she jumped high up but even then her jump was not fast enough to dodge it. This is when her boots came in as projection wings of curse energy appeared boosting her speed. Allowing her to narrowly dodge the boulder with a form an Olympic athlete would have.
"Huff... that was close."
"You are right, we are a bit too close to one another. Better put some distance between us." Her eyes widened as she turned around with her dagger in hand and aimed at the back. But that dagger never hit its target, Maki had grabbed her wrist and twisted it. Forcing Mai to release the weapon.
What greeted her was a punch to the face launching her to the ground and eventually stopping a tree trunk. Her face was bruised and her nose was bleeding. Her entire body felt like it was about to break, taking one more punch was all she could do. If she did take another, losing consciousness would be the best case scenario.
Knowing this, Mai spit the saliva mixed with blood in her mouth at the ground and put her hands up.
"I give up." She said right before Maki arrived in front with her fist aimed at her face.
Her eyebrow raised in suspicion to Mai's statement. "For real?"
"For real. Real."
"No tricks."
"None whatsoever." Mai said before collapsing to the ground and leaning her back to the tree.
"I lost and I'm out. You won."
"I'm just better." Maki grinned victorious.
"Better at being a brute." Mai muttered to herself.
Ignoring her reply, Maki put her hand out to her. Seeing this, Mai smiled. Although in this fight they were enemies, they were at the end of the day still sisters. Twins at that, their bond would never waver-
"Hah? The hell are you doing."
"I'm taking your hand to bring myself up?" Mai looked up confused.
Maki was visibly irritated as she pointed to her hand. "I put my hand out so that you can give me your boots."
"... it ran out of curse energy."
"Tch useless, whatever loser. Hope you have fun sitting on the dirt." She said before going not looking back.
Mai visibly shook in anger, she had thought her sister would actually say something like 'You put up a good fight' or something of the sort. But now her delusion was broken by the reality, the reality that at the end of the day, her sister was a {Beautiful Individual Toned Charitable with Honor}.
"I hope Todo kicks your ass!" Mai screamed at Maki's distancing figure who only responded by putting the middle finger.
