5.26% Jujutsu Kaisen: Limitless / Chapter 3: Innate Technique

Capítulo 3: Innate Technique

When Sōjun awakened his innate technique, he naturally understood its ability—

Perfect control over himself.

This control encompassed his body, soul, and cursed energy.

A very straightforward technique.

But simplicity also meant high adaptability and vast room for improvement…

Alright, it ultimately depends on the user.

Minamoto Sōjun once tried to accelerate his stomach's peristalsis to speed up digestion. The result? His body swelled up like a balloon after overeating, leading to a surplus of energy.

Afterward, he felt terrible—itchy, restless, with no appetite or energy. It took him several days to recover, like dealing with jet lag, and this was because his control wasn't very deep.

From cells to tissues, organs to systems, and then the entire body, everything is intricately connected and highly complex. Speeding up peristalsis did increase energy intake, but achieving a positive effect required more than just that step.

This made him realize that developing his technique required accumulating knowledge—at least a basic understanding of the human body.

This was the fundamental prerequisite.

Bones, veins, muscles, skin, kidneys, heart, liver, spleen, and lungs—

Nourishing bone marrow, promoting growth; purifying blood vessels, enhancing circulation; strengthening fascia, improving joint flexibility; enhancing muscles, boosting strength; refining defensive qi, and conditioning the skin.

One minor adjustment could affect the whole system. Minamoto Sōjun decided not to overly interfere with his body's natural development for now. The unpredictable results made caution a priority.

However, manipulating his hair to grow longer or shorter for fun, tying things up, or hardening his nails to scratch marks into a wooden desk—these harmless changes to specific body parts were safe to experiment with.

Next, Minamoto Sōjun focused on the soul.

Where is the soul? What does it look like?

These were unsolved mysteries in the past. Now, he could see his soul and had uncovered some of its secrets.

The soul was identical to his physical body in shape and size, perfectly aligned with it. It existed in a special space yet was closely intertwined with the body, influencing and being influenced by it.

Compared to the visible complexity of the human body, the soul was more mysterious but also purer—a unified entity.

Strengthening it even slightly brought significant benefits:

Greater mental resilience, unwavering willpower, sharper thinking, and exceptional memory.

This accelerated his learning progress dramatically.

With the help of his technique, he could faintly perceive others' souls as well.

Making the soul visible meant that every attack could now target the soul directly.

If this ability became clearer, he could harm others' souls at will.

Then he turned his attention to cursed energy.

Minamoto Sōjun could manipulate the cursed energy within him as easily as observing the lines on his palm. Using it was effortless.

The only downside? There wasn't much of it. A few uses, and he'd run out completely.

There was no way around this—cursed energy capacity was tied to innate talent. He would have to wait for his body to fully mature for his reserves to reach their natural limit.

Still, in terms of precision and control, he had plenty of room to grow.

Currently, he could shape cursed energy into various forms, fire it off to deal damage, or coat his fists with it to smash the ground without harming an opponent.

Clearly, cursed energy could temporarily boost physical attributes and strengthen defenses.

As for advanced techniques like the Black Flash or Reverse Cursed Technique... he was already halfway there upon awakening, needing only the right opportunity to master them.

The description of the Black Flash in his memory was detailed: when the delay between a physical strike and cursed energy impact is within 0.000001 seconds, the resulting spatial distortion causes cursed energy to shine black, with power 2.5 times the norm.

Minamoto Sōjun could even eliminate this delay, but he still couldn't execute the technique successfully.

Some subtle conditions were missing. He needed to experiment, eliminate wrong approaches, or witness the Black Flash firsthand.

His understanding of the Reverse Cursed Technique was even more limited—he only knew it involved reversing cursed energy to produce positive energy for healing, a process more challenging than the Black Flash.

There were many things he didn't know yet. Starting from zero, as a novice jujutsu sorcerer, all he could do was hone his body, practice manipulating cursed energy, and temper his soul.

His innate technique had no bizarre abilities; his power relied entirely on his own effort. He was transitioning from "just winging it" to becoming a scholar of his craft.

---

Yesterday was Sōjun's 10th birthday, though he now looked more like a 14- or 15-year-old.

It felt increasingly fitting!

He sensed some sort of balance mechanism in this world.

Even his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Minamoto, came back briefly, which touched him deeply—so much that he nearly cried.

Sniff sniff

What a happy occasion.

The next morning, they were gone again.

Minamoto Sōjun felt no emotional disturbance and even ate two extra eggs for breakfast.

Life had always been fulfilling for him—studying theory, practicing martial arts, and refining his jujutsu technique.

He juggled lessons with teachers, coaches, and the occasional cursed spirit.

His tutors were the same private teachers who had systematically built a comprehensive education plan for him. All he needed to do was follow it.

Usually, a person's peak knowledge acquisition happens in high school.

As for college students? Minamoto Sōjun refrained from commenting.

After all, when he graduated and entered the workforce, all he really remembered was the multiplication table.

Still, his basic understanding remained intact.

Relearning elementary and middle school material took him two years, allowing him to almost finish nine years of compulsory education early. But he wouldn't stop there—the higher his knowledge, the better. He might not always use it, but it was essential to have it! This belief was ingrained in him.

His studies of human anatomy began at the basics and were progressing gradually.

By now, he was on his ninth coach, averaging about 0.44 years per coach.

His first coach had racked their brains trying to take Minamoto Sōjun as a disciple but eventually became a guardian of his potential, passing on all their knowledge before handing him to the second coach, then the third, and so on. He was currently with the ninth coach and would soon move on to the tenth.

Learning from coaches was endless.

Karate, boxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu...

Minamoto Sōjun found them all fascinating. Martial arts shaped the body, anatomy enriched the mind, and together they sparked constant innovation.

With six parts knowledge, three parts technique, and one part self-optimization, he eagerly anticipated what results his efforts would yield.

The pursuit of perfection was a natural instinct for humanity.

The cursed spirit he first encountered—now domesticated—served as his experimental subject, tied up with a strand of his hair like a kite on a string.
