Capítulo 4: Life is good
After getting washed up and dressed up appropriately, they went to do their own duty. Every student originally would have to do some work in the Citadel, but there were always exceptions. Marcus for example had gotten close to one of the maesters, who was one of the higher-ups. His name was "Archmaester Marywn". This man taught the higher mysteries and was the only one in the council of the maesters who was seriously believed in magic and still researched about it. As Marcus was one of the people who had taken up this branch of knowledge he had the joy to meet with this interesting man.
Unlike others, Marcus knows that in this world there is magic, it is just really weak, but only until the dragons are born again. With the dragons coming, the mystery of the magic will wield great power again. He got close with the old man and instead of wasting his time on cleaning the chamber pots, they had lively conversations about magic and its history. It was time well spent.
Marywn didn't like the other maesters as he saw their conspiracies and as he couldn't stand to see this forever stagnant order. What could make the world a better place and save thousand and thousand of life, if only they would let their fellow scholars research in peace and share it with the world, but no. They could only live between their own rules and couldn't pass them. It was a very sad situation.
The arcmaester hinted in their conversations quite a few times about books that contain knowledge forbidden anyone except the few council members. This strengthened the resolve of getting his hand on them and finally learning some truth about the world he lives in now. Also, he found it highly attractive to learn some magic, even if it was too dangerous.
---Next to a tavern in Oldtown at night---
-How in the seven hell can you drink so much even though you are twelve?!-
Marcus was so thankful that he could even drink when he was just a kid. In objectively it was wrong for the people of Westeros, but for him? It was a blessing. Yes, he promised, that he would only drink sometime, and he kept himself to it, but he really needed it now. Sometimes it is important to release the steam, and he did just that. There are a few things better than drinking with your buds.
-I am just strong against alcohol it seems.-
No, he wasn't. He was drunk as fu*k but he was good at hiding it. Also, while Brendon and Albert just wanted to get drank and so they just chugged one wine bottle after another, he was just enjoying his own one and drinking it slowly. It will hit harder if you drink it too fast, so keep that in mind. They have yet to appreciate the taste of the wine, which was a double mistake as the wine they were drinking at the time, was very good quality. They were able to get the bottles in the tavern next to them when one of the group had left their table because one of them had to vomit and the others wanted to have a good laugh at it while watching. At the table, there were some unopened ones, so they "borrowed" them.
-Hey, why do you guys want to do after the Citadel?-
Asked Albert after finishing his bottle of wine. Marcus looked up and saw, that Bernard thinking hard about it, so he answered first.
-I just come to study some interesting stuff, but after that, I want to see the world and experience as many things as possible. What about you two?-
-I don't have any idea, what to do after finishing all of this. I won't have any heritage after my father dies, so I could only become a maester as the family couldn't afford to equip two of his kids. Still. I want to see the world too. I want to enjoy my life and not have to serve some random lord for the rest of my life!-
Albert got heated up in his monolog, thanks to the beverage in his stomach.
-I have the same thoughts as well. Just think about the many beautiful ladies that we could pick up. We could really enj.....-
Bernard's sentence got cut off as he started vomiting Alberts shoes.
-Fuc* you mate! Why couldn't you aim at least at Marcus?!-
At this Marcus couldn't help, but remember his previous life's friends and their drinking stories.
