As the Domain fades away, Nobara and Eso stand at a tense standoff, each assessing the situation. Both realize that the battle against the Finger Bearer has ended, but neither knows the outcome.
Eso's eyes narrow as he senses the opportunity to retrieve Sukuna's finger, a crucial objective for him and his brothers. With a swift motion, he starts toward the location where the Finger Bearer was defeated, but Nobara quickly intercepts him, her hammer ready to strike.
"Not so fast," Nobara warns, her gaze sharp as she moves to block his path.
Eso steps back, careful not to expose his back to her. "Stay out of my way, girl, or I'll kill you," he snarls, his voice laced with venomous intent.
Before either can make a move, Kechizu appears from the shadows, closely pursued by Yuji. The sudden appearance of his brother shifts Eso's attention, and he instinctively turns, inadvertently exposing the grotesque face on his back to both Nobara and Yuji.
Yuji's eyes widen in shock. "What the—?" he starts, but before he can finish, Eso's anger flares up.
"You dare look at my back?!" Eso shouts, his fury directed at Yuji. "I'll kill you for that!"
But before Eso can act on his threat, Nobara seizes the moment. With a swift and decisive motion, she swings her hammer, striking Eso hard in the back of the head. The impact causes him to stagger, momentarily dazed.
"What's with the weird outfit?" Nobara asks, her tone half-curious, half-mocking. "You look like you're ready for some creepy cosplay."
Eso regains his footing, his expression darkening as he glares at Nobara. "My back gets stuffy if I wear too much," he responds coldly, trying to regain control of the situation.
Nobara wrinkles her nose as a strange, pungent odor fills the air. "Ugh, what is that smell?" she demands, her eyes narrowing as she notices the stench emanating from Eso's exposed back.
With a menacing grin, Eso decides to show his true power. "You shouldn't have come here," he hisses. "Now, you'll both die by my hand!"
He raises his arms, channeling cursed energy into his back. The grotesque face begins to pulsate, and suddenly, black blood erupts from it, forming a pair of large, wasp-like wings. The wings buzz ominously as they spread out behind him, radiating an aura of death.
"Rot Technique, Maximum: Wing King!" Eso declares, his voice filled with malice. The air around him grows thick with toxic energy, and his wings vibrate with lethal intent.
Nobara tightens her grip on her hammer, her eyes locked on the cursed spirit before her. "Yuji, be careful," she warns, her voice steady despite the tension. "This guy's bad news."
Yuji nods, his expression serious as he prepares for the next round of their battle. "We'll take him down together," he says, determination clear.
...
Yuji and Nobara, hearts pounding, sprint through the dense forest as Eso's toxic blood forms deadly, wasp-like projectiles that whiz past them. "Damn it, he's relentless!" Nobara hisses, glancing back at the dark, blood-soaked wings chasing them.
Yuji, his muscles burning, knows they can't keep this pace forever. "Nobara, hold on tight!" he shouts, grabbing her by the waist. Without hesitation, he channels his cursed energy into his legs, pushing his speed to the limit. They become a blur as Yuji zigzags between the trees, narrowly avoiding the blood projectiles.
Nobara, though startled, quickly adjusts to the rapid movements. "I didn't ask for a rollercoaster ride!" she yells, half in frustration, half in admiration for Yuji's strength. Despite the danger, she clings to him, trusting his instincts.
As they weave through the forest, Yuji's mind races. "We can't keep running like this," he mutters under his breath, scanning the surroundings for an opportunity to counterattack. "We need a plan."
Nobara, catching her breath as best she can, grits her teeth. "If we can't outrun him, then we'll outsmart him. There's got to be a way to use his technique against him."
Yuji nods, determination settling in his eyes. "We'll lure him into a trap. But first, we need to shake him off our trail, just for a moment." He suddenly veers sharply to the right, dashing through a narrow gap between two massive trees.
The abrupt turn confuses Eso for a split second, but he quickly adjusts his trajectory. "You can't run forever!" Eso calls out, his voice dripping with malice. His wings beat faster, propelling him forward with even greater speed.
Yuji, feeling the pressure of Eso closing in, finally spots a shallow ravine up ahead. "There!" he exclaims. "If we can get across, we might be able to buy ourselves some time!"
Nobara nods in agreement, her grip tightening. "Let's do it."
With a final burst of speed, Yuji leaps across the ravine, landing smoothly on the other side. The blood projectiles, now unable to follow the sharp drop in terrain, crash harmlessly into the ground below. Yuji sets Nobara down, both of them breathing heavily but relieved to have gained a momentary reprieve.
"Nice thinking," Nobara praises, wiping sweat from her brow. "But that was too close."
Yuji nods, still catching his breath. "We've got to turn this around. If we don't, we're done for."
Nobara's eyes narrow as she stares back across the ravine, where Eso hovers menacingly. "Then let's not give him the chance. We'll set the trap here."
Eso, hovering above the ravine, smirks as he prepares to renew his assault. "You think you're safe over there? How naive." His wings buzz ominously, ready to send another barrage of poisonous blood.
But Nobara is already formulating a plan. "Yuji, if we can force him to come at us from one direction, I can set up my Straw Doll Technique. We'll nail him before he even realizes what's happening."
Yuji grins, his confidence returning. "Sounds like a plan. Let's show him what happens when he underestimates us."
The two stand ready, determined to turn the tide in their favor. Eso watches them, intrigued by their newfound resolve. "Interesting," he murmurs, his grin widening. "Let's see if your little plan can save you."
Meanwhile, back at the motel where the students had been staying, Akari Nitta's worry deepens. She checks each room, finding them empty. "Where did they go?" she mutters, dialing their numbers once more. But the calls go unanswered, only fueling her concern.
"They wouldn't just disappear like this... something must've happened," Akari reasons, rushing to her car. She starts the engine, her determination set on finding the students. "Hang on, you three. I'm coming
...
As Yuji and Nobara catch their breath after the harrowing chase, Nobara manages a quick, breathless, "Thanks for the save," before they're abruptly ambushed by Kechizu. The cursed spirit lunges at Yuji, who quickly realizes that while he took the zigzagging route, Kechizu has taken a direct path to intercept them.
Kechizu grabs hold of Yuji, who grits his teeth and grabs the spirit's legs. With a swift motion, Yuji swings Kechizu into a nearby tree with a loud crash. However, before he can capitalize on the moment, a blood projectile from Eso pierces his leg. Yuji winces, his muscles tensing in pain, and his speed slows just enough for Nobara to turn and see the injury.
"Yuji!" she calls out, concern evident in her voice, but before she can react, Eso swoops in from behind with his Wing King technique, slashing her with another line of toxic blood. Nobara stumbles, clutching at her side as the searing pain spreads from the wound.
With a smirk, Eso hovers above them, his grotesque wings buzzing ominously. "It's not lethal, but it hurts like hell, doesn't it?" he taunts, clearly enjoying their discomfort.
Before Yuji or Nobara can formulate a counterattack, Eso's voice takes on a more sinister tone. "Now, let me show you the real terror," he says, activating his Rot Technique: Decay. Floral patterns begin to spread across the blood-stained areas of their bodies, an eerie beauty hiding the horrifying truth.
Yuji grits his teeth, trying to shake off the growing sense of dread. "Poison?" he asks, eyeing the patterns warily.
Eso chuckles, a dark, twisted sound. "No, not poison. Decay. Your body will start to decompose from those points. Slowly. Painfully."
Nobara's eyes narrow in determination despite the pain coursing through her body. "You're going to regret this," she spits out, her voice steely.
Eso, now reunited with Kechizu, grins wickedly. "Oh? What will you do now, little sorcerers?" He tilts his head, mocking them with a false sense of pity. "You're outmatched. Out of time. Out of options."
