ARTHUR WATTS POV
He and Torchwick sat inside his RV and looked at the screen in horror.
The cameras that he had put in place had sent the video of Hazel and Tyrian fighting the Night Walkers.
In hindsight, he probably shouldn't have sent those two out without at least scouting the Night Walkers and their strengths.
At least then, he would have a better idea about the kind of monsters they were up against.
But he hadn't done any such thing.
And now both Hazel and Tyrian were dead.
As far as he was aware, Hazel was the strongest Pawn under Salem's command. And that guy had not lasted even ten seconds against that woman who he presumed was the leader of the Night Walkers.
And the second woman, while nowhere near as strong as the first one, had still managed to take down Tyrian even when being attacked by a Hunter team.
This… did not bode well for them.
"So. It's just the two of us now?" Roman asked as he puffed on a cigar and stared at the screen on his laptop with a defeated expression.
No.
They still had Banesaw and the last remnants of the White Fang. But… yeah. Aside from that little force, they truly were all alone.
His gambit to take out the Night Walkers and steal their last shipment of Dust had failed in the worst way possible.
No. He had not failed. Not really.
He had a feeling that giving information about the Night Walkers and how strong that group really was might spare him from Salem's wrath.
He could still scavenge this.
Still go through with the plan.
It'll be nowhere as effective as it would've been with Salem's two subordinates by his side and with the full might of the White Fang. But he could still do it.
Probably.
He just hoped that the Night Walkers won't fuck up any of his other plans or this was going to suck.
"We need to leave." Roman said "Talk with Banesaw and finalize our plans."
He nodded. Yes, they needed to do that. But before that.
He copied the videos of the fight and put them in a pen drive before giving it to a small Nevermore sitting at the roof of his RV.
He could only hope that Salem was in a merciful mood when she saw those videos. Or he'll have to make plans to make himself 'disappear'.
He would have to give himself a full plastic surgery and create a scene of his own demise but it could be done.
Mistral seems to have a good climate this time of the year.
"Yeah. Let's go." He said to Roman.

TAIYANG XIAO LONG POV
He woke up with a start and flailed around, only calming down when he noticed that he was back in his bedroom in Patch.
Then he remembered where he had been and…
"QROW!!!"
"I'm here. No need to shout." Qrow slurred out from what he guessed was the living room.
He got up from his bed and felt a bit of pain in his head. He touched his head and felt a large bump where…
Where Qrow had hit him to knock him out of the fight. The bastard.
He went out of his room and into the living room where Qrow was lounging on a sofa and drinking his… third bottle of alcohol if the two other bottles were any indication.
He snatched the bottle from Qrow hand and put it to the side.
"Hey… I was drinking th—" Qrow didn't get to finish as he picked the man up by his collar and punched him on the face.
Qrow fell onto the ground and groaned in pain.
"Ow. I deserved that." Qrow slurred out as he managed to stand up on shaky legs and flopped down on the sofa.
He glared at his best friend.
"You knocked me out."
Qrow averted his eyes and gazed longingly at the bottle of alcohol.
"Yeah. Kinda." Qrow replied.
He wanted to punch Qrow again but… that wouldn't solve anything.
"You wanted to die on your own." He said, his voice filled with accusation and Qrow flinched.
"I wanted to avenge Raven." Qrow said but the excuse sounded weak to him.
"And you wanted to die while doing so." He said.
Qrow gave a shrug but didn't say anything which was a reply on its own.
He let out a sigh and rubbed his eyes before sitting on a sofa as well.
"What changed?" He asked.
Qrow laughed at his words. "I… don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?"
Qrow paused for a long moment before he sighed "I don't think that the Night Walkers work for Salem."
He frowned "But didn't you-"
"Yes. I know what I said. All of us. Ozpin, Ironwood, Glynda. All of us 'assumed' that the Night Walkers work for Salem. In fact, I'm even starting to question why they attacked Raven and if my bitch of a sister is truly as dead as we think her to be."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean…" Qrow sighed "Tyrian and Hazel attacked the Night Walkers."
His eyes narrowed upon hearing that.
He wasn't in Ozpin's inner circle but those two were so notorious that even he knew that they worked for Salem.
"What happened then?" he asked.
Qrow looked at him with a strange expression and said "They died."
"The Nightwalkers."
"No!" Qrow shook his head "Hazel and Tyrian. They died. And… it wasn't even a hard-fought battle. The older woman. The one with the sword. She killed Hazel within ten seconds. It wasn't even a fight. And I'm pretty sure that Hazel was just as good if not better than me."
Ah… he could see why Qrow decided to leg it instead of staying there to avenge his sister.
No point in fighting an enemy that you have no hope of defeating.
"What about Tyrian?" he asked.
"The girl with the daggers killed him. It took her longer to do so but… she was also being attacked by one of the remaining hunter teams so… yeah."
"Remaining hunter team?" he asked "What about the other two teams?"
"Other four teams." Qrow corrected "There were two more in hiding nearby. They were all slaughtered by the other Night Walkers. It wasn't even a fight. More like a massacre" Qrow shuddered "I'm not fighting those monsters. Not even for Ozpin. It's suicide."
"What about Rosa Fisher?" he asked.
"Don't know don't care." Qrow replied "Didn't stay long enough to check. Bitch is probably dead by now. If she's lucky."
He nodded, not knowing what to say that.
He took Qrow's bottle and took a swig from it and felt the liquid burn his throat before passing it back to Qrow who gave him a grateful look before he chugged it down.
"I'm thinking about retiring," Qrow said, broaching the topic out of nowhere and he nodded.
"There's a free teaching position in Signal." He said.
"Sounds like a good idea." Qrow said as he took another swig before curling up on the couch "I'll think about it."
He nodded.
