PYRRHA NIKOS POV
A few days later.
"Roman Torchwick managed to escape from the prison." She said.
Jaune shrugged "We already knew that this would happen. The man had been caught by the police a few times before and he always manages to escape. What made you think that this time would be any different?"
She frowned "Why are you being so indifferent about the whole thing?"
He turned from his chair to look up at her "Because we already got what we wanted. Remember. Roman was never our goal in the first place. He was just a means to an end."
"I know that." She said and took a chair to sit beside him "That doesn't make the situation any easier for me to swallow. Not after all the waiting we did to get to him and Neo."
"It was our decision to send Neo back to him. We need her to get to Cinder Fall and Emerald."
"I still don't like it."
Jaune smiled and then pulled her in for a hug.
"Once we deal with Salem, you can put Roman Torchwick and all the other criminals in Vale in prison."
There was a knock on the door and he kissed Pyrrha on the forehead before he allowed her to leave his embrace in order to open the door.
She opened the door and he could see Weiss, Ruby, and Yang waiting outside.
Ever since Yang started training with them, she has been drifting away from her own team. Not that either Blake or either Ren and Nora tried to hold onto her.
He knew that Yang and her team should probably sit down for a while and talk about this but Ren seemed intent on ignoring this for now and he himself didn't want to force his own opinions of them either.
At least Yang and Ruby were together now.
"Oh… are we disturbing something?" Yang asked as she looked at Pyrrha and him.
He rolled his eyes "No. We were just talking about stuff. You can come in."
"Okay." Weiss said and all three of them quickly entered the room after which Pyrrha closed the door once again.
"Hey! Did you guys know the spar I had with Nora yesterday?" Yang said as she jumped onto Ruby's bed and pulled her sister beside her.
Weiss made a disgusted noise "Of course we do. You've told us three times already."
"Oh, I have." Yang said as she gave an embarrassed laugh and rubbed her head "Well, you should listen to good things many times so that they can stick."
"You just want to brag to us Yang." Ruby said innocently and Yang made a hurt expression as she clutched her heart.
"Your words wound me Ruby. You've clearly been corrupted by Weiss-cream." Yang said before she did an about-turn and smiled brightly "I mean. Of course, I would brag. You should have been there. I whooped her ass."
And considering the fact that Nora had gone toe to toe against her during a sparring match at the start of the term, it showed her clear growth by both training under Pyrrha and drinking his blood.
"Pyrrha beats us in spars every day. Yet, you don't see her bragging about it to anyone." Weiss said in a chastising manner "You should learn from her example, you braggart."
"Pfft… Boring." Yang said with a dismissive gesture before she turned in his direction. "Anyway. The reason I'm telling you about this right now is that Ren and Nora have been talking for a while."
"About what?" Ruby asked.
"About joining the training sessions with us." Yang said before she looked at Pyrrha. "I think they'll ask me to ask you to train them as well. Just giving you a heads up."
Pyrrha nodded.
They have already talked about this. About what they'll do if other students came asking for some training as well.
He had told her to accept Ren and Nora if they asked but not to bother with the other students.
Teaching the six of them was already going to put a lot of strain on Pyrrha and they would have to spar with each other to allow Pyrrha some time to recover as well.
Hmm… maybe he could take over some of Pyrrha's lessons.
Sure he was not even half as skilled as Pyrrha but he had become much better since his fight with Yang and could now whoop the ass of any of them (except Pyrrha of course. But at this point, even she had to work very hard to get past his defenses.)
In essence, he could be a good instructing teacher if the only thing needed of him was to beat the crap out of his students.
"Teaching them shouldn't be a problem. But I don't want any more students joining us after this." Pyrrha said.
And it was not only because of Pyrrha's time constraint either.
Ever since the Malachite twins and Neo joined him, he has been supplying them with a steady source of his Blood.
This has led to a shortage of his blood and he had to lower the quantity that he gave to Ruby, Yang, and Weiss.
Once Ren and Nora join them, that quantity would become even lower.
Which was a good thing as people were beginning to notice the sudden improvement of his team.
This was as good a time as any to slow down.
Ruby, Yang, and Weiss were already just as strong if not stronger than Pyrrha had been in the Canon before her demise.
Even if he doesn't do anything else to help them after this, they'll still have a bright future as Hunteress.
Not that he would leave them to dry but still…
"Jaune. What are you doing?" Ruby asked as she looked at the table in front of him, her curiosity peaked.
"Nothing really. But Pyrrha is designing weapons for two of her friends. I'm just a soundboard for her."
"You're designing weapons!!!" Ruby exclaimed before her cheerful expression drooped "And you didn't ask me?"
"We were just getting started, Ruby. Your help will be most welcome." Pyrrha said and Ruby did an about-turn with her expression and became happy once again as she used her semblance to quickly move in the chair beside him.
"Semblance Ruby!" Weiss chided from the other side of the room though from the resignation in her voice, it was clear to her that Ruby won't really stop using her Semblance in the room any time soon.
And it was not much of a problem as Ruby had gained excellent control over her Semblance and hadn't broken anything while using it for a good while now.
"Sorry." Ruby said in a distinctly not-sorry voice as she stared at the basic weapon design ideas on the table.
He stood up from his chair and gave the seat to Pyrrha. He didn't know much about Mechashift weapons so he really wasn't going to be able to help here.
"So… who are you designing these weapons for Jaune?" Yang asked curiously.
"Just two of Pyrrha's associates." He said "They became Hunters recently and their old weapons are not up to the task anymore. Problem is that just like me, they don't know a lot about weapon crafting and so they asked Pyrrha for some help."
"Your friends have become Hunters already?" Weiss asked before she looked at Pyrrha and gave an understanding nod, probably coming to some wrong conclusion in her mind.
"Can we meet them?" Yang asked.
Yeah… that would be a really bad idea.
Yang had seen the Malachite twins before. What's more, she had beaten both of them easily in a 1v2 fight.
If she met them now and realized how powerful they've become in the span of a few months then she would have questions. A lot of questions with a heavy dose of suspicion.
Nope. It would be best if those two stayed well away from Yang.
"We'll ask them the next time we meet them." He said "But I doubt they would want to meet you, Yang. They are pretty reserved."
Yang shrugged "Doesn't hurt to try. It's always good to have new friends."
He nodded and then reached for his bag.
Now that he no longer had to sit with Pyrrha, he might as well get to his homework.
It's a waste of time as far as he was considered but Weiss wouldn't let him live if he skipped out on it.
