JAUNE ARC/NARUTO POV
(AN: Jaune will be called Naruto from here on out in order to avoid confusion.)
"It's all over." Iruka said and gave him a look that was filled with exasperation and annoyance.
I gazed at the man who Naruto had seen as a father figure in the Canon and felt a slight bit of nervousness.
This was the moment when he'll know if the Characters of this world will realize that something was wrong with Naruto. Because there was no way in hell that he'll be able to fool everyone into thinking that he was Naruto. He just wasn't that good of an actor. And even if he was, these Shinobi had been trained to find impostors like him since they were kids.
So… either the company had done its job and brainwashed everyone into not realizing that someone else had taken over Naruto's body.
Or he'll have to skip the village.
Salem was near a portal to help him if anything goes wrong.
Not that anything will go wrong.
Even if he had been reduced to the body of a 13 year old child and had lost all the strength he had built from 2 years of hard training, he still had his aura. And he had even managed to learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu so no way in hell he would not be able to defeat Iruka if things went wrong.
"Iruka Sensei." He said with a calm nod "I did as Mizuki Sensei asked and learned a technique from this scroll. Will you let me graduate and become a genin now?"
Iruka looked confused at his words. But thankfully, it was not the type of confusion you get when you realized that your student was acting far differently than he should.
"Hold on a minute Naruto." Iruka said, his expression contorting into worry and suspicion "Are you saying that Mizuki sent you to take this scroll?"
"Yes. How else would I know about this scroll?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
He was acting far differently than Naruto should be acting. But Iruka still hasn't called him out on it. This was a good thing. Because despite his preparations, he didn't want to leave this village. Not at the moment at least.
Iruka looked stunned at his words and then he heard the whistling in the air.
Both he and Iruka turned to look at the several kunai heading their way.
"Look out!" Iruka shouted and tried to push him away.
But instead of being pushed away, he grabbed Iruka by the hand and pulled him away from the path of the multiple-thrown Kunai.
"Huh… the brat is better than I thought." Mizuki commented from atop a tree, two large fuma shurikens on his back.
Iruka looked at the Kunai that had just missed and him and gave him a surprised looked before turning to face the traitor.
"So that's the way it is, huh? I should have known." Iruka said and took out his kunai as he took a defensive stance against the traitor.
"Naruto! Give me the scroll now!" Mizuki demanded.
"No. Don't let Mizuki get that Scroll Naruto!" Iruka said "It contains forbidden Jutsu that could put this village in great danger. Mizuki used you because he wanted the scroll for himself. For his own power."
He nodded. He had taken a good look at the Scroll and had even made a copy of it using the Staff of Creation. So he understood how dangerous the techniques in this scroll were.
"Naruto. Iruka is just trying-" Mizuki started but he already knew how this song and dance would go.
Mizuki said that Iruka was the traitor. And Iruka said likewise.
When that didn't work. Mizuki pulled out his ultimate card and revealed that the Nine tails fox is inside him. Mizuki lied to him and told him that the spirit of the 9 tails had taken over his body, which was why everyone hated him.
It might have worked on Naruto but it wouldn't work on him.
Even if he didn't have the meta-knowledge power, he would still be able to read Mizuki's mind like an open book and understand who was lying to whom.
All in all, Mizuki's sad attempt to scare him off… didn't work.
"I don't believe you." He said and Mizuki's expression fell. "I'll ask Jiji and find out the truth myself."
"Very well. Then you leave me no choice." Mizuki said and took out his large shuriken before throwing it at him "Die!!"
Except, Iruka was in top form and was able to deflect the large shuriken with his own kunai.
"Run Naruto! Take the Scroll back to the Hokage. Keep it safe no matter what. I'll hold of Mizuki." Iruka said.
And he felt genuinely touched.
Iruka knew that he might die in this fight. But the man was still trying to help him.
Even if he was not Naruto and didn't have the same feelings for that man that Naruto did. He still respected the man for just that.
"I have a better idea Sensei." He said.
"Huh!?" Iruka looked at him in confusion and he made the hand signs.
"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu." He said and channeled a large amount of chakra through his body.
And the clearing was filled with hundreds of Shadow Clones.
Okay… he might have overdone it a bit. After all, each of his clones was almost as strong as him even if their defense was paper-thin. But still… he wanted the thrill of creating so many clones at once.
"I think it's time to wrap this up Iruka Sensei." He said and then with a single nod from him, the hundreds of Shadow Clones descended upon Mizuki.
