"That's it Weiss. Kick that girl's butt!!!" Ruby shouted at the top of her lungs but he had his doubts that Weiss heard anything. Not when the rest of the people in the stadium were shouting just as intensely.
This was the final round and the final match of the Vytal Festival Tournament after all.
He looked down at the Stadium and saw Penny and Weiss standing at the middle of an icy and Rocky Terrain.
He found it a pity that Ruby never got to meet and befriend Penny this time around due to butterfly shenanigans.
Poor Penny.
He really pitied her and wanted to help her. But he also knew that General Ironwood kept a pretty close eye on her so approaching her was too risky.
In the end, he had decided to not interfere with Penny. If she found friends then good for her. If not… then he wished the girl good luck for the future.
"Three… Two… One… Begin!!!" The Commentator announced and the fight began.
Both the girls clashed and he could instantly tell that both of them were holding back.
What was surprising was how well Penny was able to keep up with Weiss even when Weiss was not going all out.
Weiss had not taken out a single Summon at this point, only using her glyphs and her pure speed to push back Penny despite Penny having dozens of swords at her back and call.
Was Weiss trying to hold back so that the crowd would enjoy this fight more?
Not that either Weiss or Ruby had needed to go all out in any of the fight so far. So the public didn't know just how powerful she was.
But if anyone could push Weiss to bring out more of her cards, then it would be Penny.
In the end though, the victor of this match was an almost forgone conclusion.
But… that was not what worried him.
His scroll buzzed and he took it out to see a message from Maria.
'We're in our position.'
'Good work.' He sent out and focused back on the fight even if his thoughts kept going back to the Grimm that had invaded Vale in the original timeline.
He had prepared himself for a heavy Grimm invasion like that this time.
All of his companions were at optimal positions to counter a Grimm attack like that if it happened.
He had even called back Maria and the twins from their search of the Relic of Destruction to aid in this endeavor. Because even if he was sure that an invasion this time won't be as bad as the original one (thanks to his companions culling all the powerful Grimm nearby), the Wyvern Grimm and some indirect support from Salem could still devastate the City of Vale.
Down in the stadium, he saw Penny getting a little more desperate when none of her attacks landed on Weiss while she herself was hit a few times by the white haired girl.
Oh! Weiss just froze half of Penny's Blades in a large block of ice and cut their strings.
Nicely done Weiss.
And now Penny was being pushed even more.
He felt Pyrrha's hand on top of his own and turned to see her giving him a smile.
"It'll be alright Jaune." She whispered to him, making sure that Ruby doesn't listen in on their talk "We've prepared the best that we could. If that Wyvern appears then we'll kill it."
He gave her a smile and tried to enjoy the fight despite the upcoming invasion.
Worse part of it all was that he had no idea how the attack will start.
Just like it was when the city was bombed by the remnants of the White Fang, he had no idea what was going to happen.
Especially because the attacker this time was Arthur.
What would 'he' do if he was in Arthur's place?
Hack the whole stadium they were in and drop it on the Beacon tower?
Destroy the electric Grid of the City of Vale and send it back to the Iron ages?
Hack the Atlas Airships and robots despite his warnings to Ironwood?
Bomb the City again?
Bomb the Stadium?
He… didn't know. And the 'not knowing' was what scared him the most.
If he knew what he was fighting then he could at least do something.
But right now, all he could do was sit in his seat and twiddle his thumb, waiting for something to go wrong.
The good thing was that he at least didn't need to worry about his teammates due to how strong they were. And Maria's Silver eyes should weaken the Wyvern Grimm enough for them to put it down if nothing else.
Down in the stadium, Weiss managed to cut off another few of Penny's blades before she created two Alpha Beowolves and pressed her attack.
The rest of the fight was painful to watch.
Penny was not good at hand to hand combat and the two blades she had left weren't enough to protect her.
Weiss used this to her own advantage and chipped away at the other girl until her Aura went below 20% and the match ended.
As far as a Final match go. This was not the best. Even Weiss and Ruby's match was far better than this one. But it was good enough and that was all that mattered to the public.
They rose in their seats and stared cheering for Weiss while the girl preened at her victory and the attention lavished on her.
He was just glad that Penny was not turned into Quarters this time around.
Unlike Ruby who was cheering at Weiss' victory, he kept his eyes peeled out for anything that could or might go wrong.
In the end… nothing happened.
The attack that he and his companions had been anticipating never came.
And the Vytal Festival Tournament ended at a high note.
