Capítulo 1: Prologue
"They did what!?"
Lionel was beyond shocked. He could not believe what he was hearing at the moment. For those guys to have gone and done such a thing. The consequences were unfathomable, and considering who they were, he would not get out of this unscathed.
"Are they out of their fucking mind!?" Lionel questioned. "Do they even know what kind of shitstorm they have unleashed!? Do they!?"
"Apparently not. If they did, they would not have attempted such a thing," the messenger replied. He smiled faintly. "Long story short, those under you had broke into his private chamber and try to steal something they should not have. It was a good thing that he was not there at the time, opting to retire at one of his other establishment, or we would be lifting their remains off the walls. Maybe that is not really a good thing, now that I think more about it."
Lionel remained silence. A deep frown had never left his face. The person the messenger was referring to was basically his God. Everyone's God in this place, actually.
"In any case," the messenger continued, "in the ensuring fight afterwards to take back the item before he finds out, one of the sacred statues got destroyed."
"Sacred statue… which one?" Lionel asked, knowing exactly what would happen if one of those statues was destroyed. Those statues decorated the long hallway, leading towards his private chamber. Thus, for any of them to be destroyed or missing, he would certainly know about it.
Lionel was referring to his God, not himself.
"We believe it to be Incest," the messenger answered.
"Oh. Great," Lionel said, feeling a headache coming up. Incest was a taboo. One of several taboos that trapped in those statues. Any of the taboos could create untold amount of chaos if they were released into the world.
That was the real reason for them to be imprisoned in the first place. They had caused way too much problems.
"Not great. In the chaos, Incest escapes. Of course, we chase after it, but it manages to slip away. Since you know how vast the multiverse is, catching Incest before something happens is very unlikely."
"I say," Lionel agreed. "Did you get the item back though?"
"Yes, of course. That was the priority at the time."
"What about those who are responsible?" Lionel asked despite already knowing the answer. With the crime they have committed, there was only one outcome. He thought that he would ask anyway.
"Terminated," the messenger answered simply.
"Is that why you are here? To terminate me?" Lionel questioned. It was his men after all, and whether he knew what they did or not, he was still responsible for them. "Can I have a moment with my family before you do?"
"No," the messenger replied. "I mean I am not here to kill you and destroy your soul. If I did, I wouldn't be talking to you at the moment. There would be no need."
"I guess I should thank you then," Lionel responded. He knew that he was not off the hook despite the fact. It was still better than the alternative. "So, what do you want me to do?"
"Not me personally. He does," the messenger points out, "whether you are complicit or not, it is still your fault, and therefore, you must be held accountable. In other word, he wants you to go and hunt down Incest."
"Me? He got to be joking, right?" Lionel uttered.
"No idea, but if it is a joke, you still have to carry it out, nonetheless," the messenger advised. "Oh. He did say that if you refuse, he will go and bang your mothers, sisters, daughters, and whatever females in your family while making you watch."
"Eh? He cannot be serious," Lionel responded. God would never cuck him or any of his followers. That was one of the promises God gave.
"Probably not, but would you really want to get on his bad side?" the messenger asked. "He might not pay much attention to how we run things around here, but we are certain that if you do not bring the incestuous Taboo back, he will fuck up your family. Literally and figuratively. You don't want him to do that."
"I certainly do not," Lionel agreed. "Alright. When do I have to leave? And can I talk to him before that or not?"
"Unfortunately, he has already left this realm, citing about something interesting," the messenger said with a shrug, "and while he does not give you any deadline, I suggest that you leave immediately. That way, you are hot on Incest's tail."
"That makes sense," Lionel responded. He supposed that the faster he catches Incest and seals it back into a statue, the faster he can return back to his job. Since time flowed differently in this dimension, he didn't really need to say anything to his family.
They would not even know that he was gone.
"Very well, I will leave you to it then. Here is the report of the theft and what happen afterwards. Hope it will help you, and good luck," the messenger said before handling over a data crystal and teleporting away.
Lionel frowned deeply and leaned back against his comfy chair. He really did not want to go and hunt down a taboo simply because it would take him away from his comfort zone. But sadly, since God had requested, he had no choice.
The question remained, however, where did Incest escaped to, and to that end, Lionel took the crystal into his hand, allowing him to view the event leading to Incest escaping. He examined the escape part over and over again, understanding the method that Incest had used to jump into another reality.
Incest did not use any normal spatial teleportation technique. Instead, it used a unique technique that left a distinct energy wake behind.
With that, Lionel teleported to where the fight happened. The place had been restored to its original state. Except, there was one statue missing. It was the same statue that contained Incest.
Lionel wasn't here to check the statues. He was here to check the energy wake left behind. The others could follow Incest when the dimensional portal it created was still opened.
Now that the dimensional portal was closed, another method must be used.
Lionel let out a sigh and channel his power, causing a spatial rift to appear. He then stepped through the rift, arriving at an alternate reality where Incest had escaped to.
He recalled that the others had followed it here but then lost it afterwards. It was not their fault since they weren'nt specialized to fight and capture one of the taboos.
He was, however.
And with that in mind, Lionel begun to follow the invisible trail, leading to wherever Incest was hiding at the moment. He just hoped that Incest had not influence anyone already.
With each soul become corrupted by Incest, it would grow stronger, thus making his task of capturing it became ever more difficult. Even so, he had no choice.
Lionel could never be able to return home as long as Incest was out there in the multiverse, changing the course of history.
