Capítulo 19: Labyrinth of Crete Part - 7

After leaving the room where the monsters attacked them, Kane, Rachel, Theo, and Lucius continued deeper into the enormous labyrinth.

As they advanced, the place became stranger and stranger: the walls moved by themselves, the paths became illusory, and the monsters and traps became more deadly, decimating the survivors. There were only about 165 people left alive.

By this time, more than 80% of the people summoned to this "Historical Void" scenario had already died.

Looking at the lifeless expressions of the few survivors, Theo could not help but sigh.

"So many people dead, simply at the whim of that creature..."

Kane gave him a sidelong glance but said nothing.

During the journey, Theo does not use his unique abilities, only the normal ones, which Kane is not interested in replicating, as he sees no future use for them. Besides, he had no intention of replicating any ability he saw, as that would only complicate things as he moved up more levels.

'I'm in no hurry to replicate one of his skills either. It won't be long until we reach the boss room,' he thought as he looked at Rachel, who was to his left.

"By the way, can you tell me a little bit about this place?" asked Theo with a small smile.

Lucius, who had been quiet all the way, spoke up.

"We're in the historical void, as the creature said."

Theo was silent for a moment, rephrasing his question. "No, that's not what I wanted to ask. My question is: What is the name of the city in the material world, the continent, and something else?"

Lucius, understanding now, gave him a strange look before answering. He explained that the land is called Nexus Terra and that they are currently in the city of Ignes. He also mentioned the nearby cities Lyonesse, Caelumgrad, and Arkos, located to the north, south, and west of Ignes, where the river of blood that connects to the Black Sea flows through.

He didn't tell him about the Astral, Spiritual, Abyss, and Underworld realms because Lucius doesn't know they exist. Only Kane has that information, as he knows it from playing [Hero's Genesis].

After Lucius told Theo about the world's geography, Theo fell into deep thought.

'So, is he saying I was summoned to this strange world?' thought Theo.

Theo, who initially believed that he was still on "Earth," assumed that, since the creature had mentioned that they were in the historical void and were with their spirit bodies, the Earth was undergoing some transformation, as in many of the novels he had read.

But he was utterly wrong. Theo began to feel his world crumbling in front of his eyes.

At that moment, his parents, relatives, best friends, and friends ran through his mind....

Kane looked at Theo briefly, opened his mouth, and closed it again. He thought about speaking to him in English to tell him there was a way to return to Earth but decided against it because he wasn't sure if it was possible at some point in the game.

'Besides, it could be that we're already on Earth and don't know it,' Kane thought with amusement.

They kept moving through the maze, dodging traps, hitting dead ends, and facing more monsters. Some people died; some got too nervous and were easy prey for the monsters, who showed no mercy.

Kane didn't go out of his way to save everyone, either. He wasn't strong enough to protect 100 people and would not go out of his way to save those who would not hesitate to betray him.

...

After crossing the previous corridor, where the walls moved independently, everyone continued walking with much more caution and senses on high alert for any sound.

Finally, after an eternity, they found a small room in the middle of the labyrinth. It was modest, with a worn bed and a wooden table. On the table, a corpse reduced to bones sat as if writing something.

Kane and Rachel entered the room while the others stood hesitantly, fearing they might run into a trap or an invisible monster.

"Look under the bed. I think there must be some potions," said Kane, approaching the table to see if any valuable items were for him.

"Merlin, there's a box under the bed," Rachel said calmly.

She lifted the lid of the box, finding small glass jars inside. Each contained a mysterious liquid that glowed like magic.

Rachel looked at Kane for a moment and asked.

"What do we do with these?"

Kane looked at the potions for a moment and then fixed his gaze on the people who didn't enter the room, who avoided looking at him, apparently still frightened by what happened a moment ago.

"Give Theo and Lucius a potion; the rest is up to you."

Rachel nodded before asking, looking at the box, "What about you? Don't you need a potion?"

"No, I don't need a potion; that would only harm me more, as my condition is delicate now."

Hearing this, a trace of concern appeared on Rachel's expressionless face, but she asked no more and walked with the potion box toward Theo, Lucius, and the other survivors.

Kane watched her for a moment and then walked over to the table, where he saw a yellowed sheet of paper with contents written in the ancient language called "koine."

He began to read, and his words echoed throughout the room.

The center of the sheet reads, "To my dear mother who is no longer with me."

"In the garden of my soul, sadness blooms, Beloved mother, my heart is firmly torn, My tears are entwined in a sea of thought Because, in every wound caused, I did not know how to love.

"Forgive me, beloved mother, For sleepless nights, For every hurtful word, For torment without consolation. I was relentless wind, That swept away your calm, Now, repentant, I cry out for your sweet soul.

"In the mirror, I see my own cowardice, selfish actions, and negligence daily reflected in my cowardice. You are my beacon of love, my guide in the storm, And I, blind and wandering, failed to value your presence.

"Words fall short, Mother, to express The magnitude of my pain, the weight of my grief; I implore your forgiveness with tears in my eyes. May my rapture be the bond of our embrace.

"Mother, you are the sun that lights my path. You are the purest love, eternal and sincere. Let me make amends for the mistakes I made and write a new story with the love I shared.

"In our next lives, Mother Dearest..."
