Capítulo 1: Chapter 1; Smile
Katsuki Bakugou was sauntering down the halls after school, heading for the front doors. His bag was slung across his shoulder, and his hands were in his pockets with his thumbs sticking out. He had his pants lower and baggier than dress code allowed, and his school suit coat slung over the opposite shoulder his bag was on. He was planning on heading for the dorms, after meeting with the Bakusquad at the front gates.
Suddenly, a crackling of strange electricity came from behind the blonde, and he was able to jump out of the way just in time for a green haired boy to go flying past him. "Sorry, Kacchan!!" Izuku yelled, now halfway down the hallway. He was using his quirk to make him run faster.
"Oi, Deku!!!" Katsuki yelled after Midoriya, not expecting him to hear the blonde.
Surprisingly, Izuku heard Katsuki and skidded to a stop on his heals. "Yeah, Kacchan??" He answered, walking back up the hallway.
"What the hell?!" Katsuki screamed as soon as Izuku was within 5 feet of the blonde hothead. "Why are you in such a hurry all of a sudden?!"
"I... uhm..." Izuku stammered. "I... need to go train with All Might..?" Izuku very obviously lied.
"Nerd, I know that's a lie." Katsuki said rather softly. Now don't think Katsuki was going soft, no no no! He was trying to pry into Izuku without anyone listening in on a possible conversation.
The green haired teen fiddled with the straps of his bag for a moment. "Listen... Kacchan..." He finally said, very quietly. "It might not mean much to you now, but my mom is in the hospital." Izuku's voice softened to a whisper.
"Auntie is in the hospital?" Katsuki echoed, shock creeping into his expression.
"Y-yeah." Izuku answered. Tears formed at the edges of his eyes. "She... she was diagnosed with Cancer near her spine last week." Tears started to flow out of Izuku's eyes and down onto his suit coat.
Katsuki had the worst urge to hug his childhood bestfriend again like he used to comfort him, but all he could do was grab the shorter boy's shirt collar, yanking him up a bit. "Hey, stop crying, damn nerd." Was all he could manage as comfort. Yet, this small action made the tears stop flowing all together.
"K-kacchan... doesn't want me to cry??" Izuku barely whispered, a smile forming on his lips.
Katsuki realized what he had influenced and quickly put the green haired teen back down on his feet. "Tch. I don't care about you, it's just fucking annoying." Izuku flinched when Katsuki cursed. "Also, Auntie Inko is strong, she'll beat that shit." Izuku flinched again.
"Kacchan sure does swear a lot..." Izuku muttered under his breath.
"What did you say?!" Katsuki blurted.
"N-nothing Kacchan!!" The small teenager scrambled to readjust his belongings before sprinting off again down the hallway towards the front of the school. And for some reason, a genuine smile formed across Katsuki's face.
