So, I'm Junior year of High School, huh? I don't feel any different. Maybe it's my senior year where I will sense a change. So far, it's the same thing as before: studying, hanging out with friends, playing soccer, dating some random guys. Same stuff as always. Nothing's really changed. My life is pretty much... normal. I guess that's why I goof around. It's just boring sometimes. I wonder why I feel this way. I sometimes think there's something wrong with me.
Well, I did, until I met Nola. Oh yeah, I'm convinced I'm sane now.
That girl is pretty interesting. I mean, I feel bad for her. She clearly has, like, a mental issue going on, but... man... Elon going to the bathroom with her because she can't go? For like, 10 years? That was only the beginning.
And poor Elon too. I was mad at him when he entered my stall while I was using it. If it wasn't for the other women in there, I'd beat him up twice as much. But then I realized something was wrong with him, and man... poor Elon. That guy needs a hug. One where he doesn't get violated either.
Those two are crazy and I just had to get in on it. Maybe this is what my life needs. A little spark of controversy. To think, my friends thought me going out with Elon was bad. If only they knew about this. But I can't tell them because it would pretty much make them both outcasts. They already have enough crap to deal with, I don't think I need to add to it.
It's Saturday and I usually hang out with my friends. I texted them and said I'm not hanging out with them today. I think I'll hang out with Nola instead. Elon has been keeping his distance from her. I figured she was lonely and needs someone to comfort her.
I go to their building but I stop by Elon's place first.
"What's up, Nola?" he says when he answered the door.
"What's up, Elon? I'm going to hang out with Nola today."
"She should be in her apartment. I told her you're coming."
"Great. So how are you? Are you working your way up?" He just gives me a blank stare. "Elon, are you?"
"I don't know what you mean by that."
"You don't? Come on. Work your way up."
"Hmm..." He's thinking about it? How dense is this guy? "Oh, you mean... school? Yeah, I'm doing good."
"No, Elon. Remember what I said? You got a long way to climb."
"Yeah, I know. Councilor said I need to think about college, which is what I'm doing."
"You really don't know what I'm talking about?"
"Um... no."
I just start laughing a bit. This guy is serious. "Well, how about I let you know, when you're ready."
"Uhh... I don't know what you mean."
"Okay... well then. Let me speak to Nola now."
"Sure. Just make sure you come back when she feels she needs to go."
"Alright." He closes the door.
This guy serious? Could this be one of those situations where the girl wants the guy the more he ignores her or something? 'cause I want to kind of see if he finally gets it. But I have a feeling by the time he does, I'll be in a retirement home.
Anyways, I head on over to the other door and knock. The door opens and there she is.
*SLAM*
...and she just slammed the door.
I knock again and it's not opening. I get my phone out and call her, but she's not answering either. I knock again and tell her, "Nola, I'm not leaving until you come out." I keep knocking the door and it opens. It's her mother.
*SLAM*
...who slams the door on me. I can see where she gets it from.
"Leave or I'm calling the police!" I hear Mrs. Uro say through the door. Nice try but I know you're not going to.
"Tell Nola to hang out with me."
"No! You're a horrible person! I heard how you mistreated her at school. She claims you went into the bathroom while she was using it and forced the door open so everyone will see and then you took a pencil out and-."
"Mom, I didn't say that!" I hear Nola.
"Elon abandoned you in your time of need and it's all her fault."
"He came later."
"And where was he when you needed him? Huh? Why didn't he come when you called him instead of her? I told you to mix the tracking device on his cereal. He would never notice it because it's so tiny."
I knock again, "Nola, get out here. We're hanging out today."
"No. I don't want to." she tells me.
"Nola, you want to help Elon, don't you? You gotta learn how to do things yourself. You can't have your mom dictate everything you do."
"I'm not listening to my mom anymore."
"What do you mean?" I hear her mom say. "Nola, you get back here this instant."
"No mom. I don't want to rub your feet anymore. I swore that infection in my hand came from that white stuff on your toes."
"You get back here, young lady, and give me a pedicure."
The door suddenly opens as she runs out and heads for Elon's place. She's desperately knocking and moving the knob. I head on over and put my hand on her shoulder.
"NHJGAHTY!" What was that? I don't even know how to describe the noise she made. "Why are you still here? I don't want to hang out with you."
"Come on, Nola. Elon is not coming out."
She continues to knock and turn the knob. "Elon! Elon! Let me in! Please! I promise I'll do anything you want!" I push her over a few feet away.
"Nola, we're going to hang out today, okay?"
"No, not okay. I only hang out with Elon."
"Now, Nola, you remembered your promise, right? You promised you would better yourself for Elon. He shouldn't be going to the bathroom with you anymore. You see how it messed you up. It's time to get out of your shell."
"But why you? I don't like you. You keep wanting to peep at me and touch my nasties."
"Nola, who was it that protected you when the bathroom was full? Who was it that killed that spider before it entered that stall? Who was it that introduced you to a bidet? Huh? You like that bidet, don't you?"
"Why are you asking that? That's a naughty thing to ask. Shame on you. And yes, I do, it feels nice."
"So I do all this for you, and you still think I'm not your friend."
"Yeah."
I start to giggle a bit. I just can't get mad at her. She's like a tiny little kid.
"We're going now."
"MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.." she runs back to Elon's apartment but then her apartment opens up. Oh gosh! it's her mom, and she's wearing a bath towel over her large body. "Young lady, it's time for my sponge bath."
Nola runs the other way and pushes me forward, "NO-MOM-I'M-HANGING-OUT-WITH-HEATHER-OK-BYE!" And we head towards the elevator.
