"It's not something that I can answer, my daughter," her mother said apologetically. "The world that you came from was a regressed world. Only the people involved in the past know what happened then."

"But how did you know that I was the Eunice Harper of the past world, Mother?"

"I only found out because I saw a glimpse of the past," her mother explained. "Apparently, in the first world, I helped you use your ability to switch souls. But it was only a glimpse, so I also don't know the whole story. Moreover, it was actually Empress Liane who helped me find you in this world, Zoe."

"Right," she said. "Mother, I met Empress Liane here. Is she alive in this world?"

Her mother smiled sadly while shaking her head. "Unfortunately, the Empress Liane that you met was only the remains of her soul. It disappeared as soon as it sent you back to the other world."
