Capítulo 35: Chapter 35

Registering a monster in the guild is a simple task. All that's needed is to fill out a form and draw a portrait of the creature. Most of the time is spent on the portrait, but magic can speed things up—though it requires an additional fee.

"Is Mr. Momon here?"

A group of people, clearly anxious, rushed outside.

Narberal looked at the group and responded, recognizing their voices.

"Mr. Momon is registering the monsters."

This group was the 'Dark Sword.'

Lukrut then ran into the guild, quickly relaying what had happened.

"What! Someone invaded Nfirea's shop?"

Momonga was shocked, his mind racing to understand why.

Hijack? Robbery? No, it seemed they had just taken Nfirea away.

In that case...

"But Mr. Momon, fortunately, there was a 'Mithril Level' adventurer who arrived at the scene."

Momonga looked puzzled.

"You said he was a 'Mithril-level' adventurer?"

"Yes, if he hadn't appeared, we would all have died there."

Momonga sighed in relief. It was fortunate that the mithril-level adventurer had appeared; otherwise, his plan would have been completely ruined.

He made a mental note to thank the adventurer properly when he had the chance.

---

Genji followed the two figures into a massive cemetery, watching them prepare for the initiation of the 'Undead Army' ritual.

Now was not the time to act. Ideally, they should wait for Momonga, but the process was moving more quickly than expected.

As the ritual sped up, Genji couldn't help but think that when things escalated and threatened the entire city, lending a hand would not only ensure Lizzie and Nfirea's safety but also secure Nfirea's life for the time being.

If possible, Nfirea's survival would bring far more benefits than the sacrifice.

---

E-Rantel's outer walls stretched across a vast area, about a quarter of the city, occupying much of the western side. This was where the common cemetery of E-Rantel lay. While there were other cemeteries in nearby towns, none were as large as this one.

This cemetery served to suppress the creation of the undead. While much about the undead's origins remained unknown, it was believed that unclean things often arose where the living perished. The undead were among them.

The Empire had even signed an agreement to treat the undead as a common enemy during the battle.

A wall surrounded the cemetery, not as tall as a city wall but high enough to separate the undead from the living. The wall was wide enough for people to walk on, and the gates were reinforced to prevent easy breaches.

This was all to control the undead born within the cemetery.

Stairs stood on both sides of the gate, and a watchtower was positioned nearby. Five guards rotated shifts, yawning and keeping an eye on the graveyard from above.

Magical "perpetual light" lamps illuminated the area, but many spots—especially the backs of tombstones—remained shrouded in darkness.

One guard, absentmindedly looking over the cemetery, yawned before speaking to his fellow soldiers.

"It's been quiet tonight."

"Yeah, there were five skeletons earlier. Judging by the frequency in the past, it seems the undead have become less frequent."

"Well, the souls of the dead were summoned back by the six gods, right? If that's the case, we're lucky."

The other soldiers joined in the conversation, mentioning the undead creatures they'd encountered before.

"If it's just skeletons and zombies, we can handle them, but it's not easy to take down skeletons with guns. That's a bit troublesome."

They continued discussing the more troublesome undead, like corpse demons and skeleton centipedes.

"Quiet!"

A guard, suddenly alert, noticed something in the distance and focused his gaze on Genji.

The others followed his lead, growing uneasy.

"Did you... hear that?"

"Is this some kind of illusion?"

"I didn't hear anything strange, but it feels... off."

"Stop joking."

"...Wait... What's that? Over there!"

A guard pointed toward the cemetery, and the others quickly turned their attention to the same spot.

Two guards were running toward the gates.

Panting and wide-eyed, they appeared terrified.

The sight before Genji left them all frozen in place. The soldiers who usually patrolled in groups of at least ten were now represented by these two, who were unarmed and clearly fleeing.

"Hurry... open the door! Open the door quickly!"

The two guards shouted in desperation, prompting the others to rush down the stairs to open the gate.

However, the two guards couldn't wait and tumbled through the gates, crawling inside.

"What's going on?"

The soldiers were in a state of confusion, but the pale faces of the two guards told a chilling story.

"What... what happened? Where are the others?"

The guards choked on their words, their faces filled with terror.

"Th... They were eaten by the undead!"

Learning that their eight companions had been sacrificed to the undead, the soldiers turned their attention to the captain.

Without hesitation, the captain called up to the watchtower.

"Hey... what did you see up there?"

The guard on the watchtower trembled uncontrollably before turning to shout in fear.

"The undead! A horde of undead!"

He could barely comprehend what he was seeing. Under the lights, a massive black mass of undead legions approached.

"I don't know how many there are... one or two hundred? No... there might be thousands of undead."
