This island was quite large, with expanses of beach followed by thickets of coconut-like trees with broad leaves that could block out the sun.
Further back, one could see patches of dense woods and mountains; it was uncertain whether there were people on the island, as, at least from where Lu Ban stood, the beach seemed deserted.
Once more setting foot on solid ground, Amber couldn't help but feel weak in the knees. After a night's tossing and turning—even if she managed to grab some sleep—nightmares kept disturbing her, preventing peaceful rest.
She knelt on the sand, indifferent to her clothes getting sandy, her heart beating with the palpable thrill of having survived a calamity, unsettling the young woman who had encountered such disaster on her first trip away from home.
"I wonder if the fruit on these trees is edible."
