Waking up in a refreshed state, I took my fully charged phone on the table, trying to check messages and other things as usual. However, instead of the familiar wallpaper, a line of white text appeared on the black screen.
[Welcome, O Fate Weaver!]
I put it back on the table, my expression was blank.
'...Where did that book actually come from?'
From the phrasing alone, it was clear the book was related.
I didn't feel afraid, but I was certainly disturbed by my lack of knowledge about it. I had only been toying with the book since yesterday with no serious intent whatsoever.
'Well, whatever, if I die, I die. I have a reason for doing this anyway; fun!' I wouldn't regret dying for it so much. My life is pretty decent despite the existing circumstances, but if you're asking whether I'm content or not, then no, not very much. 'And the book can make a difference!'
I picked up my phone again and found the text had changed.
[I am your guide for questions not covered in 'The Fate Writer's Guide.']
[This book originates from an extraterrestrial relic, and you have been chosen as the next Fate Weaver for no particular reason! Feel free to ask any questions.]
'Okay…'
That's weird, but whatever.
If you wonder about what the book has let me read before, here you go:
[Before you begin on your journey, note that this relic is still in its early stages and has many limitations. Rest assured, by becoming the Fate Weaver, you can potentially elevate this book to higher levels!]
[Currently, the book can focus on one aspect of fate, one that has been chosen by you. There are character limits (word's characters), repetition constraints, and particular writing styles required. With certain levels of influence you exert on it, they may be gone, and other aspects of fates can gradually be changed.]
[As you have learned from one of the examples, the book's influence extends to all "characters" of the fates you wished to alter, and when you make up a decision on the target, you will automatically be within the same scope as them— in other words— parallel worlds or alternate dimensions. It can be manual depending on what aspect of fate you obtained, incorporate it to another fate aspect so that you don't automatically get transported to the world in question without knowing anything and potentially in a detrimental circumstances.]
[You will also be able to change your own fate! Beyond that, the fate of a location, even the level of a planet, can be altered according to your will— by completing your obligations first, that is]

There wasn't anything much about the Q&A session with the phone. It was all general questions, and since there were too many of them, and info dump wouldn't be ideal, they would instead be delivered gradually as the story progressed.
There was some sort of terrace behind my room, apparently combined with other people, so I decided to hang out there after learning that others wouldn't be able to see the thing on the screen just like the book.
The scenery is pretty bland, let's say that right away. I only spotted a flat rice field with a few huts and a distant mountain backdrop too faraway to appreciate.
Sitting on the couch, my attention was fixed on my phone screen instead, feeling a bit weird. 'That's the method?'
[To elevate your authority, you can try making the target's fate as inversely proportional as possible with your direct physical and mental involvement with the target.]
[In Ai Hoshino's case—within the moral context of your world— you could get intimately involved with her, have children, and raise them as a husband and father unlike Hikaru Kamiki. With an indirect method, you may fix Ai Hoshino and Hikaru Kamiki's relationship so that they get together as a whole family. Otherwise, you could disrupt the family created by the couple to leave her in a far more tragic ending, creating a desirable requirement to elevate one's authority.]
I asked about how to "upgrade" the book's level, and that was the answer. '—that would take too long!'
How many years do I have to wait for that to happen? Besides, the "reward" given is still too small compared to the outcome and risks I'll face!
As if knowing my thoughts, the screen changed.
[I understand you're in a dilemma. For that, you can change the whole fate setting you've written into something shorter to achieve.]
'...yeah, I forgot that was an option.' I pondered for a while. 'I'm not exactly against a long-run mission, or whatever I should call it.'
Was it fun? That was a crucial question, alright?
A fun and long-run mission is cool, but I still have a feeling that it's not really worth the effort. The book would also be useless for a long time then. I wanted to change my own fate, traveling to some other worlds, and generally have fun using this item. To focus only on Hoshino in such a long time just rubbed me in the wrong way.
[Please don't worry.]
"?"
I glanced at my phone screen.
[You will still be able to increase the book's level with this method— affecting improvements such as removing the word limit, more freeform writing, and so on— although in the long-run. The entertainment you hope for is still viable.]
[You will be given an option to choose one out of 3 Fate Aspects randomly each time you provide accumulated minor, intermediate, and major experiences the target hasn't encountered originally. If you can't think of any, you can simply accelerate the existing ones and change the method from what was supposed to happen. They can include early family warmth, public friendships and romantic activities, and others. Altogether, they could give you the increased book's level.]
[You can check the progress of minor experiences accumulated by the percentage beside the battery bar on your phone screen. Once full, it will give you the corresponding Fate Aspects to choose. As for the Major Experience, you can click the percentage of the Minor Experience to see the detail. There will also be an Intermediate Experience bar for you to see.]
Indeed, they all seem to be fun...
Of everything regarding the examples of experiences mentioned, my attention was somehow drawn to "public friendships and romantic activities."
'...If I'm not mistaken, anything related to guys in public for idols is something that interferes with their work, right?'
