On the second day, in the afternoon, the diplomats and politicians began trickling into the dining hall for the welcoming meal.
Isabelle made herself comfortable on the table.
It was still just a little disconcerting to be in such a strange place, surrounded by complete strangers.
And worse, she was essentially on trial, with everyone watching her every move, judging not only her and her rule but all of Nevremia by every little thing she did - especially each and every faux pas and mistake she managed to make.
She struggled to resist the urge to show how much it intimidated her.
She was an empress, after all.
Empresses of powerful kingdoms weren't easily intimidated, and if she were willing to let Nevremia look like a cowardly kingdom, she'd have taken the out of not going at all and cited the assassination attempt on Alexander as a reason not to go.

Amesaya Some days chapters are just super hard and nothing seems to happen, other times the chapters feel really easy to write and I feel more satisfied with their content. (except My Knight Rescuer is a Jerk, that one is just always a wild ride, because I know no one reads that, so I don't feel bad at all about writing whatever I feel like happening.)
