Capítulo 3: "Hearth Of The Sea"

Professor Snape and I walked a bit and came to a small bar, in fact if Professor Snape hadn't pointed it out, I would have unconsciously ignored it, tiny and filthy looking.

Leo looked around and the people, who hurriedly passed by, only laid their eyes on him for a few moments and as if by magic the next second they ignored him as if he did not exist.

However, seeing Snape enter with such resolution he could only follow him.

For a famous place in the wizarding world, it was very dark and run down. Some old women were sitting in a corner, drinking glasses of sherry. Some smoked a long, strange-looking pipe or played with old cards.

Perhaps gambling, practically everyone did their own thing without disturbing the rest. When Professor Snape and I entered, the voices stopped for a moment, but after seeing that it was Snape everyone went back to their business.

Following the professor we entered a narrow alley located at the back of the cantina.

As he pulled a thin wand out of his sleeve Snape looked at me and said.

"Stand back and pay attention, I'll only show it once."

"Pick your wand, and repeat these movements."

I took a few steps back and saw how he hit the wall three times with his wand.

The brick he had touched shook, twisted, and a small hole appeared in the middle, growing wider and wider.

A second later they were staring at an arched passageway large enough for a giant to enter, a passage that led to a cobblestone street, winding out of sight.

"Welcome... To Diagon Alley."

Professor Snape gave a small smile as he saw the shock on my face.

After all, it was the first time I had witnessed something so magical in my two lives, it was certainly a completely different experience to see it with your own eyes than to read it on a sheet of paper.

Leo entered the passage, looked quickly over his shoulder and saw the wall closing again, it was just like watching a video in reverse.

What followed was a somewhat busy and fun afternoon, while Leo bought school supplies, looked at all the stores in amazement, and listened to the conversations of all the wizards.

At the same time he learned some news. Like Hogwarts' Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was hospitalized this year by a wild Bludgers.

That certain twins caused a disaster and filled the streets with a sticky liquid.

Among other crazy gossip, thanks to this he inferred that Harry Potter had not yet come to Diagon Alley.

After all, for someone so famous in the wizarding world it would be strange if they didn't talk about it.

But Leo didn't care about this matter, after all, once he came into this world he decided that he will live according to his ideas.

And he won't care about the plot at all. The fact that he is here is in itself the most chaotic, who knows the changes that will bring his butterfly effect to this world.

As for the child of the prophecy... I wouldn't force anything.

A few hours later, the most anticipated moment of the day arrived, Snape had left a few minutes ago, according to his words he had unfinished business.

In any case, only this last store remained, narrow and bad looking.

Above the door, in gold letters, it said "Ollivander: makers of excellent wands since 382 BC."

As he entered, a bell rang at the back of the store. It was a small and empty place, but what caught my attention the most was a dusty shop window with numerous old boxes inside.

"Hello good". Leo called softly and after a while he only heard a small gasp.

Some time later an old man came out slowly while he was scratching his head, he was full of dust and spider webs, it looked like he was cleaning a basement.

"Hello". I said a little awkwardly.

"Well, Hogwarts student, first year right?"

"You should come get your wand, come closer."

As I approached I asked doubtfully "How do you know that...?"

Mr. Ollivander began to measure all the parts of my body and upon hearing my question he said.

"Well, in all of Europe there is only one school of witchcraft and wizardry nearby and at this time of year they usually recruit new students, coupled with your age I can guess that."

"Besides, I never forget who I sell my wands to, Mr...".

"Jackson...Leo Jackson."

"Well Mr. Jackson. Which hand do you use most?" "He said as he finished taking the measurements.

"Right". After answering he seemed to notice something and went to the back and then returned with a box wrapped in dust.

"Try this mahogany wood and use unicorn hair as a core, it is very reliable and a good wand." Once he said this he opened it and blew.

A gust of dust wafted into my nose causing me to sneeze.

I extended my hand and when I looked at Ollivander I saw him nod so I waved my wand and then passed.... Nothing... absolutely nothing.

Mr. Ollivander and I saw each other and for a few moments, it was somewhat embarrassing.

He picked up the wand from my hands and while he muttered something unheard of, strange and impossible he returned to the back.

What followed was something strange, no matter what wand he tried there was no compatibility with any, in fact there was not even a magical reaction, which was just strange.

But then, just when Olivander was going to give up, Leo felt something drawing him deeply so he pointed at it and asked.

"This... Mr. Ollivander in that drawer over there."

"A... you talk about this one." Ollivander took out a wand, but this one was different: a dark blue color and Leo felt a lot of affinity with it.

As Ollivander put it on the shelf he began to speak.

"This is a very strange wand, my father obtained it on a trip to Greece many years ago..."

"In fact, no one has ever been able to use it, that's why I simply have it as a collector's wand."

"Although it is indeed a unique wand, perhaps it is just the right one for a wizard as particular as you, Mr. Jackson..." He said as he looked at me with a light in his eyes.

I took the wand in my hands and finally felt something different, I felt like two different powers were swimming inside me, one noble and powerful and the other soft but controllable, while one was like the waves of the impetuous sea and difficult to use, the other was more like easy to mold clay.

Although it was the first time that Leo so intuitively felt the power of him, in fact, he had some guesses.

He tried to extract the first dominant power but it didn't pay attention to him, so after giving up he could only try the second.

This time he did move. A magical current flowed through his body and waved his hand along with the wand.

Unlike the previous times, this time a change did occur, a jet of water came out of the tip of the wand but it was completely controllable.

Fascinated, Leo gave it different shapes until he felt tired and the water fell to the ground.

Ollivander who saw all this applauded and smiled.

"Congratulations Mr. Jackson! He seems to have found a wand that suits you...".

"Its name is Hearth of the Sea, it has as its core the heart of the sea, a very rare material to find, and its wood is from a strong, old oak from ancient Greece... certainly peculiar."

Leo still hadn't recovered from the feeling of doing magic for the first time but upon hearing Ollivander say this he looked at him sadly and thanked him.

"So Mr. Ollivander, how much does the wand cost..." He asked with a bit of pity after all according to Ollivander the materials were rare so they should be expensive.

And he, well, he is poor, he only has a few galleons subsidized by the school, and now he only had two left.

"You don't have to worry about the price Mr. Jackson."

"This wand has been without an owner for many years and now that it has found one, I couldn't be more pleased."

"Just give me a galleon as commission and it will be yours." As he spoke he smiled softly at me and I didn't know if it was a sensation but Leo felt that there was a hidden meaning behind it.

"Thank you very much Mr. Ollivander." Leo thanked him again, obviously he saw that it was Mr. Ollivander who wanted to help him.

So Leo gave the galleon and nodded as he said goodbye to Ollivander...

Once Ollivander saw the door close he stopped smiling, waved his wand and everything returned to its place.

Then a letter and a feather duster floated in front of him, he wrote something simply and folded it. But if one looked closely, the name of the recipient was written on the front.
