92% I'm Grant Ward / Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The Truth

Capítulo 138: Chapter 138: The Truth

The interior of the bus was quieter than ever as Coulson, Ward, Garrett, and Fitz prepared to storm the secret facility where Coulson had been treated after his death. The air was thick with tension and fear. Skye was still in critical condition, her vital signs stable but fragile, and the team knew their only hope of saving her lay in finding the mysterious drug GH 325.

"We have to hurry," Coulson said, adjusting his tactical vest as they approached the facility. "We don't have much time before the facility goes into self-destruct mode."

"Are you okay?" Ward asked, sensing the growing tension in Coulson. Ever since he had learned more about his own resurrection, something had changed in him.

"I'm fine," Coulson replied, not looking at Ward. "Let's focus on the mission."

Garrett, ever the superior one, glanced at Ward as he checked his own weapon.

"Don't worry, kid. We're here to make sure everyone gets out alive. And, of course, to get what we came for.

Ward ignored Garrett and looked at Fitz, who, despite being clearly nervous, was focused on accessing the facility's security system to clear a path for the team.

"I'm in," Fitz said finally. "The coast is clear, but we need to hurry. We have less than twenty minutes before everything in here turns to dust."

"Then let's go." Coulson led the team into the facility, a cold, sterile underground complex.

As they made their way through the long, fluorescent-lit hallways, Coulson couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu. Everything here seemed strange and familiar at the same time. The team finally reached the lab where Coulson's files indicated the GH-325 was stored.

"Here it is," Fitz said, typing furiously on the keyboard of a security terminal. "I just need one more minute to unlock the compartment."

"Hurry up, Fitz!" — Ward shouted, who was watching the door, his gun ready for any threat.

Garrett, who was scanning the room for anything useful, looked at Coulson with a curious look.

"So, this is where they brought you back from the dead, huh?" Garrett said, with a mischievous smile. "I bet you didn't think you'd end up back here, much less because of a miracle drug."

Coulson ignored him, his thoughts growing more and more disturbed. He knew something was wrong, something that hadn't been told to him. He could feel it.

Fitz finally managed to unlock the storage compartment, revealing a small glass box containing vials of the glowing liquid of GH 325.

"We did it!" Fitz said triumphantly.

Ward took the box carefully, quickly checking the contents before putting it in his backpack.

"Now let's get out of here," he said.

But before they could move, a shrill alarm sounded throughout the facility.

— Self-destruct in 10 minutes — announced a robotic voice over the speakers.

"Damn it! We have to run!" Ward exclaimed, starting to head for the exit.

As chaos unfolded around him, Coulson stopped when he saw a door at the end of the hallway with the word "Tahiti" written in large letters. He hesitated, feeling an inexplicable pull toward that room.

"Coulson, we have to go!" Ward shouted, seeing that Coulson had stopped.

But Coulson didn't respond. His feet carried him toward the door, as if something was pulling him. He entered a code on the panel and the door opened with a low hum.

"Coulson!" Garrett ran after him, realizing what was happening.

Coulson entered the room and was immediately overcome by a strange feeling of déjà vu, almost as if he were living an old dream.

The room was filled with advanced medical equipment, monitors and surgical tables. But what caught his attention the most was a large tank in the center, surrounded by tubes that led to what appeared to be vials of GH 325.

He walked over to the tank, his eyes wide with shock as he saw its contents.

Inside the tank, floating in a thick, greenish liquid, was an alien being with blue skin. Its body was covered in scars, and its eyes were closed, but there was something alive about it, as if it were in a state of forced hibernation.

"What… what is this?" Coulson muttered to himself, almost unable to believe what he was seeing.

He stood still, watching the alien, as confusing memories began to surface in his mind. The surgeries, the drugs, the voices whispering about "Tahiti" as if it were paradise. But it wasn't. It wasn't anything like that.

"I… I can't give her that. I can't," Coulson began to mumble, his voice breaking as he slowly backed away from the tank. "This isn't natural. It's not... right."

Garrett rushed into the room and saw Coulson, clearly distraught, talking to himself.

"Coulson, what What are you doing? We have to get out of here! — Garrett approached and, upon seeing the tank, his eyes widened for a brief moment, but he quickly returned to normal.

Coulson was lost in his own mind, still mumbling.

"I can't let her go through what I went through. I can't…" He turned, trying to leave, but Garrett grabbed him by the shoulders.

"You have no choice, Coulson! If you don't give her this drug, Skye will die!" — Garrett shouted, shaking him.

Coulson blinked, as if trying to come back to reality.

"Let's get out of here!" — Garrett ordered, pulling Coulson out of the room, as the alarms continued to sound.

Back on the bus, Simmons was standing next to Skye, the vials of GH 325 prepared next to her. Her fingers trembled as she held the syringe, ready to inject the drug.

"What if it doesn't work?" — Simmons whispered, fear taking over her.

"What if it doesn't work?"

"We have to try, Jemma," Fitz said, standing beside her. "It's the only chance we have."

Simmons took a deep breath and inserted the needle into Skye's vein, slowly pushing the glowing liquid into her body. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, suddenly, Skye's body began to convulse violently, the monitors around her flashing as her vital signs spiked.

"No!" Simmons exclaimed, trying to steady her.

Fitz rushed to adjust the equipment, and for a moment that seemed like an eternity, everyone stood frozen, watching Skye convulse. But then her signals began to stabilize. Skye's breathing returned to normal, and the monitor indicated that her heart rate was adjusting.

"It worked!" Fitz said, exhaling in relief.

Simmons burst into tears, the tension of the moment finally dissipating. They had done it. Skye was alive.

As the team caught their breath after saving Skye, Garrett and Triplet prepared to leave the shuttle, taking Ian Quinn with them.

"Good work, Coulson," Garrett said as he helped Quinn aboard the Quinjet. "But you're going to have to deal with the consequences of what you saw."

Coulson remained silent, his mind still stuck on what he'd seen in the facility.

"Until next time, Phil," Garrett said with a grim smile, before disappearing into the Quinjet with Triplet and Quinn.

Later that night, Coulson found himself with May in the operations room, watching Skye sleep peacefully, still hooked up to several monitors.

"Do you want to tell me what happened in there?" May asked, her voice low.

Coulson hesitated, but knew he could no longer hide the truth.

"I found… something," he said, his voice dark. "GH 325 comes from an… alien source. They were using the blood of a scarred, blue being… and that's what brought me back." May looked at him, processing the information.

"And now we're using it to save Skye," Coulson added, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know what that means, but I know it's not natural. I don't know what's going to happen to her now."

May put her hand on his shoulder.

"The important thing is that she's alive, Coulson. We'll deal with the consequences as they come."

Coulson nodded.
