As bright lights greeted us I shielded my wife away from the source.
I didn't care that Carlton's reasons made sense, at this moment I would doubt the world just to protect my wife and unborn child.
"Mr. Harris! Mrs. Harris," the familiar voice of Lilith's bodyguard, Gabrielle Allen, called out to us.
"Gabrielle, thank God it wasn't a trap," I said as I relaxed and let her guide us through the trees.
Carlton's tunnel led out to the back of his restaurant, to a park that was somewhat deserted by now. The entrance was disguised as a dark sewage way.
"Mr. Carlton told us to tell you that you owed him a favor now for your distrust," Gabrielle said as we walked up to my car. "I have no idea what that means but he just said to tell you when you got out."
"And when exactly did he tell you this?" I questioned her.
"Before he sent us off to find this place." She shrugged, opening the door as I helped my wife into the passenger seat.
