Everyone present was dumbfounded after Jett started petting Mike, even more so the guard. He had never seen anyone crazy enough to pet Mike besides the family members. Mike himself had never been pet by anyone other than the family that raised him, he had instinctively wanted to attack but being a well-trained dog that could not harm anyone that came through the gate, he held back.
Mike began shaking Jett off, but Jett kept petting him for a while. After petting Mike for five minutes, Jett was satisfied and finally let go of Mike and continued to follow the old guard to his residence. When they arrived, the old guard showed them that everything in the house was heavy. Even the broom they used to sweep was a few hundred kilograms. All of this gave Jett an idea: He needed to train Gon, and this was the perfect way to do it.
"Gon," Jett called out to Gon, who was pushing the door open to the guard's house.
"Yeah," Gon said.
"We are going to train; I'm going to teach you how I train Nen," Jett said.
"Really?" Gon asked.
"Yes, how I train my Nen is different from how others train it. You will find out if we ever meet a Nen master. I will make you stronger, Gon," Jett said. Gon looked grave when he heard Jett. He also wanted to become stronger; he had been feeling left behind by Jett.
"We will also be fighting; you have to be able to move your Nen to any part of your body at any given moment," Jett said.
"I'm ready," Gon stated.
Jett then began to tell Gon how he should control his Nen. Jett explained to him that he should be using Ren for every activity until his body could activate his Nen just as simply as his brain sending signals. Kurapika and Leorio had also been listening on the side, Kurapika understanding what Jett was talking about, while Leorio was only scratching his head.
In the original timeline, the group had taken a week to strengthen themselves. With Jett's interference, it was two weeks later that they decided to finally leave the guard's home after opening the gate. In those two weeks, Gon trained as Jett had told him. In the first week, Gon was having trouble doing as Jett instructed. If he had trained without using Nen the way Jett used it, Gon would have taken at least a whole day to get tired while using the weights. With Jett's training, Gon tired in a few hours, but even so, Gon could tell the difference in the second week because he had to change the weight he was carrying.
As for their fights, they were slowed pace, while they could move at faster speeds. Gon wasn't able to control Nen well. After they headed deeper into the forest that surrounded the mountain, they came across a dark-skinned female in a suit standing guard in what seemed to be a stone fence.
"Leave," was all she said. After that, Gon started being Gon. He wanted to enter without fighting, which Jett just let happen. While they could fight, it wouldn't be helpful in the least. They had no idea what type of guards they had, and Jett had activated Gyo. The girl in front of them was a Nen user.
The later events were nothing to talk about. They met with the butlers of the Zoldyck family and played a game with the head butler. Killua later arrived, and they were able to leave without any interruptions. After Kurapika and Leorio left to do their own thing, only three of them remained.
"Here we are, only three left," Killua said.
"What are we going to do?" Gon asked. Killua was about to say something, but Jett interrupted.
"Before that, Killua. I must apologize; I didn't mean what I said back then, maybe only a little. But my main purpose was to divert your brother's attention from Gon. Threatening to kill you in that situation seems to be the most sure way to get his attention," Jett explains.
In response, Killua changes the shape of his hand and attacks Jett. Jett easily dodges to the side, and Killua continues to attack him. On the side, Gon said nothing and didn't try to stop them either. After dodging Killua's attack, Jett decided to test his theory about Killua being manipulated to fear Nen users. He used his Nen, letting out a small killing intent. Killua instantaneously jumped back, sweat coming from his face, a fearful look clear on it. This proved it: Killua was somehow being manipulated. This also made Jett wonder if he should tell Killua or let him find out alone. He snapped out of his thoughts as Killua began to ask questions.
"What is that? I felt it at that time. That's why I knew you were serious about killing me. You weren't kidding; you would have killed me if my brother tried to kill Gon," Killua said.
"It is called Nen. This incredible power makes you strong," Gon said.
"Yes, it is called Nen. While it does make you strong, it can do more than that," Jett said, ignoring Gon's words. He pulled the tablet from his backpack and handed it to Killua, who had now calmed down. The tablet was already open to the page where Jett kept the information about Nen. Killua read through the information like a fish out of water.
"I get it. You already did it for Gon, right? The Nen initiation, do it for me too," Killua said.
"I was actually going to offer to do it already. Gon and I need competition that will drive us to become stronger," Jett said with a smile. Gon on Jett's side was also smiling.
"First though, we will need a place to get experience. I also need to make some money. I want to know something, and I need money for it." Jett said.
"I know the perfect place to go before we have to head out to York Shin on September 1. It's called the battle tower. You can fight and earn money at the same time," Killua said.
"That's perfect. Then, along the way, I will awaken your Nen," Jett said.
All three of them boarded an airship and headed to the battle tower. On the ship, Jett performed the Nen initiation on Killua; like Gon, Killua was also a natural and could control his Nen within a few minutes. Standing next to two people who could be called fighting geniuses sent a chill down Jett's spine. While he was ahead of both of them in Nen practice, they could easily catch up to him. That did not bother him; it would only push him to get stronger and better, and he knew it was the same for both Gon and Killua. All three of them practiced their basic principles, which Jett had stated was something they had to do every day without fail as long as they had time.
They had made it to the battle tower just fine and were waiting to enter. They had only been there for around ten minutes when Jett felt a slight chill that made the hairs on his neck stand up. At the same time, a memory replayed in his mind of when he had felt the same way. It was at that time when that strange creature had come up behind him and would have killed him if it wasn't because of his body's instinct and luck. Snapping his eyes, Jett's body explodes with a burst of Ken, an advanced technique of Nen.
"Jett, what's..." Gon started.
"Guard yourselves!" Just as Jett finishes shouting, his head jerks to the side quickly. His body follows the momentum of his head and is lifted into the air, sending him sliding across the floor a few feet. Killua uses Ren imminently to guard; he doesn't yet know the advanced Nen techniques.
"JETT!" Gon shouted, rushing to Jett's side, but before he could get to him, Jett jumped up and rushed at an incredible speed in the direction of the attack. Killua thought that Gon would rush after Jett, but Gon was frozen in place as if he had seen something horrible.
"Gon, let's go!" Killua shouted.
"What? Right." they both rush after Jett.
As Gon ran, he was still thinking of what he had seen and what Jett had whispered. He had rushed to Jett the fastest, so he could hear what he said. As Jett jumped up, Gon saw he was bleeding from the side of his temple. Gon's face instantly changed to one of joy, but when Jett looked at him, it was an indifferent look. Not soon as he rushed, Gon heard him whisper.
"Useless."
Jett rushes at high speeds in what people from Earth call the Naruto run, performing flash steps from time to time. Jett had to say it was the best way to run if you wanted to move at high speed while rushing. The essence of running in that form was to push off the ground with your feet as if running up a hill. This running style was also present in the training memories left behind for him. Running in a usual way created resistance because of the torso hitting the air. In a Naruto run, the head was the first to hit the air, creating a cone that pushed the air to the side. Of course, your face would be hit with air pressure, but his other self thought that people in Naruto use chakra to protect themselves. Jett used Nen to test out the theory, which proved correct.
Jett was also thinking about a moment ago with Gon. He was disappointed with Gon; he didn't even activate his Nen. Did he think he would die? Jett had already noticed it before, while he liked that part about Gon he was also worried. Gon became too emotional when it came to people he cared about. He became so irrational that he stopped caring about what could happen to him. What was the point of having so much talent and so much potential? All the hard training and all those hours of hard work were precisely for moments like these, if he didn't use it for this moment all the work they did was just, Useless.
This time, it wasn't like the shuriken Hanzo had used on him on the Hunters exam. The projectile was too fast to change trajectory in mid-air. The bullet, which he saw fall after it had hit his temple, had to travel in a straight line. He also saw that the bullet was covered in Nen. He had no idea why a Nen user was targeting him, but he would capture him and find out.
As Jett kept moving at high speed, another bullet was fired at him. He saw it coming and used his hand to deflect it to the side. He had also wondered if the shooter would instantly run after he saw that he was alive, but he was wrong. But this also gave him a view of the building the shooter was in. Locking on to his target, Jett ran faster. A third bullet was fired at him; he was about to deflect it as he had done before, but he saw the bullet was covered in dense nen.
As he got closer and closer to the shooter, the bullets got faster, and the Nen in them became stronger. What changed was the accuracy. Jett guessed that it was the shooter's Hatzu. If one weren't an idiot, they would think that the closer they got, the better they would be at shooting their target, but that was not the case for this shooter.
Jett had to zig-zag to avoid the bullet, making his speed drop; while the shots sometimes missed, the power behind them was no joke; they made the ground around explode. Jett was hiding behind another building; he had almost been shot in the head when he tried hiding behind a dumpster. The bullet had passed right above him, missing by an inch. He had also discovered that he was the only target, Killua and Gon who were steps behind him were left alone. He was now in a stalemate and had no idea what to do. If he went around, then it would only give the shooter time to leave. Even if they did try, Gon and Killua were not strong enough to block a bullet with their Nen. While pondering, he saw that the shoots had somehow become weaker.
'Was there a time limit?' Jett thought. Earlier, the shots were piercing through the concrete walls, but now they only made small indentations.
"Damn, he ran away," Jett said.
Rushing out of his hiding place, Jett moved again at high speed, the bullets were still firing but all of them were only shooting in one direction, not even aiming at him anymore. As he jumped from building to building, he arrived at the sixth floor of a building; he found the sniper riffle attached to a small machine that kept pressing the trigger.
Jett didn't curse or shout in frustration; he only thought about why he was being targeted. The first thought in his mind was that it was Killua's brother Illumi, but he pushed that thought aside. If he wanted to kill him, he would come himself, but only after someone paid him to do it. He was sure of it; the shooter was someone else. Then, who was trying to kill him, and for what reason?
