Capítulo 28: CH: 28 Lupin's Case

"He's a truly despicable villain!" Fiennes floated in mid-air, looking down at Pedro with disdain. "Taking advantage of the girl's state of madness, he created the illusion of death and left me for an enemy he couldn't handle himself."

Pedro's face flushed, and he quietly took a step back. Then, he straightened his posture and approached. "All of you disciples want me dead, so why can't I use you as a shield?"

"Hah," Fiennes let out a sharp laugh. "You've finally admitted it, don't you?"

"Have you ever considered why your apprentices don't see you as a true teacher?"

Pedro finally regained his composure and stared at Fiennes with cold, mocking eyes. "You died and became a ghost. I have no reason to fear you anymore."

"Yes," Fiennes smiled, brimming with mockery.

"It's not the same for you. Your own apprentice wants to kill you too!"

"Yes, yes, yes," Fiennes replied with a triumphant tone, having gained true insight into Anton's background. Pedro's face flushed once again at the old wizard's dismissive attitude.

Anton looked at Fiennes curiously. "I remember the last time I accompanied you to the gathering place of wandering wizards, and Pedro was there as well. It seemed like you two were on somewhat amicable terms."

Fiennes sneered. "That's because he can't kill me."

Pedro sneered in response, "Because he can't kill me."

"It's truly interesting," Anton exclaimed. "So you maintain that delicate balance?"

The two then spoke in unison, "People always have to learn to compromise."

Beings like them, neither human nor divine, must learn to compromise.

One is an ancient goblin, several hundred years old, and the other is a ghost who barely clings to his will.

"Can you tell me about Lupin first?" Anton pointed to the Lupin figurine on the pile of sand. "Oh, that's my friend I mentioned to you."

Anton didn't care about their quarrel or whatever relationship they had. He found them both unreliable.

Fiennes claimed that Anton enjoyed deceiving people, but Anton believed that what the old wizard said wasn't necessarily true.

Lupin, on the other hand, could be trusted.

In the future, Anton would rely on Lupin to protect him, just like Lupin protected Anton. Would you care about that?

Regardless of their personalities, whether good or bad, these two share one common trait, and that is their dedication to research.

Fiennes looked serious and said, "Don't compare blood-cursed beings to werewolves. Can they really be the same? You fail to see the true nature of magic. I have personally witnessed the same magical patterns in werewolves and Animagi."

"I don't understand what you're saying," Pedro impatiently replied. "An Animagus is a complex shape-shifting spell, a werewolf is a magical affliction, and a blood-cursed being is a result of a blood curse."

"It's like comparing goblins, house-elves, and humans. They may appear different and have varying heights, but they are fundamentally different species."

"Oh, poor Pedro. He thinks he knows everything after a few hundred years, but he's just a mere trick that everyone understands." Fiennes's voice carried a strange mix of arrogance and condescension.

"You don't know anything!" Pedro shouted in anger, attempting to reach and strike Fiennes, but his short stature prevented him from making contact no matter how much he jumped.

"Heh, can't reach, heh, can't reach," Fiennes taunted as he floated out of Pedro's reach.

Anton could already envision the next scene, as he had experience it before.

This unfortunate goblin, even when eating, sleeping, or using the toilet, would always have a perpetually noisy and invincible ghost pestering him.

Indeed, he is a master of the Cruciatus Curse. Even in death, he possesses the ability to torment and drive people to madness.

Impressive.

Anton can now look forward to a peaceful life of sleeping and waking up undisturbed in the future.

After patiently waiting for the chaos to subside, Anton skillfully interjected at the pivotal moment when the tension was palpable.

The goblin Pedro finally took a step forward, ignoring Fiennes completely, and continued to point at the sand on the table.

"Watch closely, young wizard."

The image of the werewolf disappeared from the sand, leaving behind only a black wolf in its place.

The black body began to split, resembling a mass of jellyfish with numerous tentacles.

The tentacles intertwined, contracted, and danced around each other.

Then, with a sudden force, the tentacles tightened and reshaped themselves into a humanoid figure.

"This is the state of magical transfiguration during the transformation spell," Pedro explained.

The figure continuously shifted between human and werewolf forms. In that moment, Pedro snapped his fingers.

The sand condensed into a magical wand, releasing a wave of fan-shaped sand.

Then, the white sand tightly filled the gaps that didn't align perfectly when the werewolf transformed into a human.

"It achieves a similar effect," Pedro said, picking up his cigar once more. "You can understand that after transformation, the appearance may change, but there is an unstable and gradual adjustment process at the core. Powerful soul spells will leave an irreversible impact on this state."

"In other words, Fiennes' Cruciatus curse solidified during his transformation. If these magical effects are not removed, he remains in a weakened version of the Cruciatus curse."

"Cruciatus turning into a state of weakness?" Anton blinked in astonishment. "So, the werewolf is in a vulnerable state before and after transformation, and soul-based spells are particularly effective?"

"Hehehe," Pedro chuckled strangely, pointing at Anton and glancing at the old wizard. "Your apprentice, just like you, is eager to kill."

Fiennes sneered, "You're no different."

"Shouldn't the priority of magic spells be focused on attack power in God's special slaughter?" Anton rolled his eyes. As a young wizard with limited knowledge of spells, he didn't prioritize things that could save his life. What else was there to consider?

But regardless, he now finally understood Lupin's condition.

"Can it be cured?" Anton inquired.

Pedro sighed, "It's incredibly difficult. It's like untangling silk threads that are intertwined with every bone in the body. Each thread must be delicately removed, requiring a major operation that can only be performed during the brief moments of a full moon. It's a slow and painstaking process."

"At least six times, or half a year."

"It's truly foolish," Fiennes sneered once again. "You only remember how to unleash all the dark magic, but you have no understanding of their secrets at all."

This provoked the goblin Pedro, who retaliated with a barrage of curse words accumulated over the centuries.

Anton's eyes lit up. "How can it be treated?"

Fiennes smiled proudly. "It's simple. Use the 'Soul-shifting Curse' to expose all the non-essential magical powers to the outside, and then utilize the werewolf's inherent reshaping abilities to naturally repel these magical forces."

"As for how to shape the soul in this manner, the cooperation of the 'Oculus' potion is necessary."

Seeing that Pedro didn't refute, Anton became very excited. "I will prepare the Oculus potion, Mr. Pedro. Can you try this method?"

"Hahaha," Fiennes laughed. "He tried a fart! The goblin couldn't even cast a human spell, let alone dare to drink the 'Oculus' potion."

"Exactly, my dear teacher. When you called that centaur witch to steal my experimental materials, I assume you had someone try the potion, right? Are they all dead? You don't dare to drink it, do you?"

Pedro simply sneered. "I decline this proposal."

He turned his head to look at Anton. "Young wizard, I cannot let you heal the werewolf. Fiennes only hopes that once you heal him, the 'Unbreakable Oath' curse will kill me!"

"Hehehe." Fiennes floated around. "You will beg, Anton. You foolish yet cunning goblin. In order to kill me, you trapped yourself in an 'Unbreakable Oath'. Peeling away bit by bit, what a ridiculous method."
