I tried on the last dress there was to try on. Rose and I had picked out many different colors and sizes. They were all cute and pretty, but this white one really caught my eye. I stared at myself in the mirror. It had a lace neck, didn't cut too low, but showed some of my chest region. It was short, to my knee, and flowed like a ballet gown. Definitely a garden party dress. I smiled as I walked out, and Rose had the same expression on her face. This was it!
"You're so getting that dress," Rose chimed.
While I showered and got ready for Scott to pick me up, Rose offered to help make pancakes. I rolled my hair into a towel and tied one around my chest as I joined Rose in the kitchen.
"Here's your pancake." She placed two huge pancakes on my plate and dropped a tiny one for Hailey.
"Thanks for making it," I said.
"No big deal. I was hungry anyway." Rose dropped the last of the cake on her plate. Sighing, I rested my cheek on my palm.
"Something on your mind?" Rose asked. I looked down, feeling a bit down, maybe it's because I'm going to meet David's parents and I don't know how I'll act. It's normal, I know, but still....it's weird. And then Scott would be there. He's already a case on his own.
"Nothing."
"Have you talked to your mom lately?" Rose asked, and I gasped. Shit! I haven't talked to her in a while.
"I'll call her when I get back tonight," I shrugged. Instead, I sent her a message now saying hi.

Rose left after she helped me fix my hair. She needed to make dinner for her mom or something. For the tenth time, I stared into the mirror. My eyes were smoky black and looked hot. I didn't want to look too extravagant, so I just went with a simple lipstick and no eyeshadow. I grinned at myself. I don't think I've ever looked this pretty before. It was like staring at some model, not me.
Scott's POV
I don't know why the hell I even agreed to this nonsense. Who holds garden parties these days? Oh yeah, my fucking aunt. The annoying part is Storm is going, and I have to go. I can't imagine not being with her while she's having fun and David is there giving his signature fake laughs. I know he has a girlfriend, but he should stay away from Storm. I'm sure I've made that clear to him.
I sighed. Now I'm getting really possessive. I don't know when or how I've become like this, but it does feel good, especially when I have to punch guys.
I fiddled with the tie in my hand, and when the thing won't knot, I flung it on my bed. Stupid thing. I wonder why and how people wear this and feel comfortable.
My phone chimed, signifying I have a call. I picked it up, swiping my screen when I saw Valerie's name. Her voice was normal but had a clipped tone to it.
"Scott."
"What!" I barked.
"Sheesh! I just called to say Dad will be at Aunt's party," she said, annoyed. God! Even she is annoying. Everyone is annoying right now. Except Storm. I can't wait to see her. She'd texted me during the day and told me she was at the mall with her friend Rose, the cafe owner.
"Who gives a fuck!" I barked. If my dad is going to be there, that's his problem. I'll try my best to comport myself during this shit. Only because I don't want Storm to think shit of me. We're really heading somewhere unlike when we first met. She was a feisty little thing. Somehow, I care about what she thinks of me. I never cared what anyone thought of me, but I don't want Storm to think I'm messed up. But you are!
I know!
"You sure you want to come?" Her voice was beginning to shake now. I hate this shit.
"I'm coming anyhow. I'm not letting Storm be there on her own."
"Who?"
Fuck!
"Forget it."
I ended the call, flinging my phone back to the bed. As much as I don't want Storm to meet my dad, the idiot just had to be going to this party. If she finds out it's my dad I fought with the other day, I wonder how she'll see me. I and my dad have not been on good terms. It's not a day affair. It's been since I was a child. The psychopath of a father. My phone vibrated, and I knew it was Storm texting me, probably reminding me we'll be late.
I don't give a shit if we are. I'm hoping she'll change her mind and we won't have to go again. I just want to spend time with her without anybody around. I grabbed my car keys and phone before heading out of my condo.

The drive to Storm's apartment seemed like forever because I was dying to see her. Finally, I pulled into her apartment building parking lot. As I made my way up to her apartment, I ignored the look I was given by a woman holding a child.
I looked at the child, and he was pulling his mom's dress, probably about to cry. If he does, I swear I'll evaporate into thin air. I gave him a nasty glare. Finally, the elevator pinged open, and I jumped out as if a wolf was after me.
I rang Storm's doorbell twice before she opened it, and my breath was caught in my throat. She looked more breathtaking than usual. Her hair was twisted up, allowing her bright blue eyes to shine even more. The white dress she was wearing reflected her innocence and beauty, and I took a moment to take in her curves. Her eyes fluttered down as she fiddled with her gown shyly.
"You don't like it?" She asked, alarmed. How the hell could she say that? I'm literally having a hard-on, but I'm not ready to tell her that. Maybe she can notice it, but she's too busy fiddling with her dress. I scratched behind my head.
