Xenovia Quarta stood before the grand angel, Gabriel, as an unexpected conversation unfolded.
"Wh-What did you just say, Gabriel-sama?" Xenovia stammered, unable to believe what she had heard.
Gabriel, with a calm yet firm tone, repeated, "Didn't you hear me? Very well, I will say it again. Xenovia, as a warrior of Heaven, go to Kuoh Town and bear a child with Takashi Mitarai, the Red Dragon Emperor. This is not just a command from your superior but also an order from Gabriel, the Angel."
"Does that mean... I have no right to refuse?" Xenovia asked a hint of desperation in her voice.
"That's correct. There is no refusal," Gabriel replied with finality.
Xenovia stood in Gabriel's chamber, her mind swirling. As one of the Four Great Seraphs, Gabriel ruled over love, and yet this command left Xenovia in shock. She couldn't believe her ears and sought confirmation, only for Gabriel to reaffirm her orders.
After learning the truth about her former faith and being ostracized by the Church, Xenovia had spent her time hunting down stray devils like a broken machine.
Her world had crumbled, and she had been taking on dangerous missions, hoping for release from her anguish, moving from one place to another.
It was during one of these times that Gabriel, having heard of Xenovia's skills, invited her to join her ranks.
And now, here she was, facing this impossible task from her new superior. Gabriel herself, her belly swollen with a kid, had apparently conceived recently. Heaven, which had been unable to produce new angels, celebrated Gabriel's pregnancy.
Without having fallen, Gabriel was nurturing Mitarai's child and preparing to bring forth a new angel. For now, she had paused her duties as a Seraph and focused on administrative work in Heaven.
Xenovia, who had been called back from her mission of exterminating stray devils and preaching in lands where faith had dwindled, could not refuse Gabriel's order.
She set off for Kuoh, unaware of the devilish smile Gabriel wore as she left.

Upon arriving in Kuoh, Xenovia made her way to Rias Gremory, the one who governed the area.
Though they were no longer enemies, it was still necessary for someone not of the devil faction to announce their presence.
Xenovia remembered that the guy in question, Takashi Mitarai, had once been close to her former companion, Irina Shidou. Seeking information, she asked Rias for Irina's address and decided to visit her.
"It's been a while, Irina," Xenovia greeted as she arrived.
"Yes, it really has, Xenovia. Talking at the door isn't ideal. Come in, let's sit," Irina responded, offering her a seat.
Irina now lived in an apartment owned by the Gremory family, having become one of Rias' allies, or perhaps it would be more accurate to call her a "contractor." As long as she remained close to Takashi Mitarai, their alliance would continue indefinitely.
After sitting Xenovia at a table, Irina prepared some tea. She had received quite a bit of luxurious tea from Rias, who had a taste for it, and Irina was glad to have an opportunity to use it.
"So, what brings you here, Xenovia? Does it have something to do with a mission from the Church? If so, I'm afraid I haven't had any contact with the Church since... well, you know," Irina started.
"No, I'm no longer with the Church. I now serve Heaven under Gabriel-sama. I came here on her orders. I'll be straightforward, as I dislike beating around the bush!! What exactly is your relationship with Takashi Mitarai? I seem to recall hearing about it in a café once," Xenovia asked directly.
"Lady Gabriel...? Ah, I see. Well, it makes sense. She's also one of Takashi's Harem, isn't she? You've been sent as a... gift, I take it? That's just like Takashi," Irina said with a knowing smile.
"Hmm? What do you mean? If it's something private, I can come back later," Xenovia replied, confused.
"No, no, it's nothing like that. I was just thinking out loud," Irina chuckled.
"As for my relationship with Takashi Mitarai... Let's see. He's someone I would die for. Personally, I love him so much! We've... shared a lot if you get what I mean," she said with a sly smile.
Though not in a formal boyfriend-girlfriend relationship since Takashi has many, Irina was clearly one of Mitarai's wives. In simple terms, she was part of his Harem.
"Let me guess! Lady Gabriel told you to bear Takashi's child, right? You're a reincarnated Angel now, after all," Irina teased, sensing Xenovia's aura.
"Sharp as ever, Irina. I thought I was hiding it well," Xenovia admitted, impressed.
"Oh, please. I was a warrior for the Church not too long ago. I can spot a reincarnated angel's aura. So, did I guess correctly?" Irina asked, her eyes sparkling.
"Yes, exactly!! Gabriel-sama's orders were ridiculous, though. She's asking me to bond with a man I've never even met. That's not exactly part of a warrior's duties," Xenovia grumbled.
"Oh, come on! You've always said you wanted to have a strong man's child," Irina teased.
"So, Takashi Mitarai... is he a strong man?" Xenovia asked, curious.
"Physically? Yup. Well, he is the Red Dragon Emperor after all. I'm not sure if you're aware, but your superior, Lady Gabriel, is also with Takashi. He's got a knack for fathering children with non-humans," Irina laughed.
Xenovia sighed deeply.
Irina, a human who was bound to become one of Rias' devils soon, wished to be one of Takashi's subordinates.
"Ah, I see. So, he's powerful in... Both ways. Hmm, that's just my type!! Strength comes in many forms—physical power, yes, but so does virility. When it comes to ensuring the survival of one's species, that's the most important strength of all," Xenovia mused.
"If you want to meet Mitarai, how about tonight? I'm going to visit him to get…, so the timing's perfect," Irina suggested with a grin.
"That would be wonderful. I appreciate you making the introduction," Xenovia smiled, grateful.
"Then, let's wait until night. Do you already have a place to stay?"
"Well, I was thinking of renting a hotel room, just in case."
"In that case, stay here. There's no problem with you!!"
"Is that so? I appreciate it."
"No need to thank me. After all, we were partners once, even if things are different now."
They continued chatting as if filling in the time they had been apart.
