To say Meixiu is tired and worn out would be the right words to describe what she's feeling at the moment.
Xiaohui couldn't help but agree with what her mother said the night they had a conversation with Meixiu listening to them.
She couldn't handle any of Xiaowen's childish antics, so she didn't have a choice but to agree with her visiting her grandmother with a stranger.
Right now, Xiaowen ordered Meixiu to grab her bags and load them in the trunk of Tingfeng, as she didn't let Tingfeng help with anything.
The guy, wanting to spend some time with Xiaohui, quickly agreed with the outing that Xiaowen apparently prepared for them.
All he thought was that it was only the three of them—Xiaohui, Xiaowen, and himself—but he completely ignored the fact that Xiaohui wouldn't come with anyone without Meixiu.
Or go somewhere without her knowing.
So upon arriving at the Zheng family house, he couldn't help but feel upset that Xiaowen had just completely lied to him.
Xiaowen explained everything, saying that her daughter wouldn't come or even agree on things if they involved Tingfeng, so she didn't have a choice but to agree.
As she said, "She's acting like a child".
Which is the polar opposite of what really happened that night.
Meixiu couldn't help but just shake her head upon hearing what her mother-in-law just said.
Meixiu pulls the trunk door down and sighs heavily before looking at the door and seeing Xiaohui going out, struggling with her luggage.
She quickly went to her wife and put her hands on the luggage, but another hand put theirs on it, making her look up only to meet Tingfeng's glaring eyes.
"I can do this."
Tingfeng said, pulling the luggage forcefully towards him as Meixiu slightly stumbled in the process.
Meixiu smiles at her before pushing Tingfeng's hand away from the luggage.
"I can handle this; it's my wife's things."
Tingfeng scoffs before he grabs the luggage from Meixiu's hands, pulling it a little too hard and making the girl stumble a lot.
Xiaohui went to help Meixiu balance herself, but she got dragged down on the floor, with her on top of Meixiu as the taller woman put her arms around Xiaohui's waist.
The girl on top has her eyes closed, waiting to feel the floor, but all she could feel was a warm and soft body flushing a little too close to her.
She opens her eyes and widens them upon seeing Meixiu staring back at her with worry in her eyes.
"Are you alright?"
Meixiu asks, her hands going in to cup the smaller's cheeks, and feels it become hot as the red hue goes to scatter around her face.
Xiaohui was about to speak when someone held her up and forced her to stand up. Looking at the culprit, she saw her mother, who held a glare at Meixiu.
"How dare you hold my daughter like that!?"
She yelled before pulling Xiaohui away from Meixiu. The girl stood up from the ground before she was confronted by Tingfeng, who pulled her with the use of her collar.
"What the hell was that?"
"What?"
Meixiu asks, her eyes looking at Tingfeng in confusion as to why the guy is acting like a weirdo in front of her.
Oh right, he likes Xiaohui, and it's sad that the girl is married to someone.
Meixiu's mouth formed a circle before she smiled widely, feeling a little proud as she managed to make the right decision without panicking when seeing her father-in-law.
"I can do that for her; she's my wife anyway."
Tingfeng sneered before his fist landed on Meixiu's cheeks. The girl dropped to the floor as Tingfeng went on top of her and continued to punch her.
"You're an asshole!"
He yelled, grabbing the attention of Xiaohui and Xiaowen, who were about to argue with one another yet again.
Xiaohui's eyes widen, and she quickly goes to push Tingfeng away from Meixiu, squatting to look at her wife's bruised face.
"Oh my! What is he thinking!?"
Xiaohui voiced out her thoughts, her finger ghosting Meixiu's right cheek as the girl hissed in pain.
"Tingfeng! Are you ok?"
Xiaowen quickly went towards Tingfeng's side and helped the guy stand up from the pavement.
He scoffs before forcefully pulling his arms away from Xiaowen, glaring at Meixiu in the process.
"You're lucky Xiaohui's here because if she's not, then you're dead."
Tingfeng threatened before he went towards his car and sat down. Xiaowen glanced at the couple before running to the car, which drove off.
Xiaohui sighs as she expected her mother to help the two of them, but she just went with Tingfeng, probably to get a head start on going to Grandma Peng's hometown.
She looked at her watch and saw that it was already two in the afternoon.
"Come on, let's get your wounds treated first."
Xiaohui guided Meixiu back into the house before she went to the kitchen to find the first aid kit.
Meixiu's eyes bore into the coffee table, glaring at it and imagining that it was Tingfeng's annoying face.
Her thoughts got cut off when someone tapped her shoulder. Looking at the culprit, her eyes met Xiaohui's, which held a gentle expression.
"Come on, let's get you treated."
Xiaohui pulls the cotton ball from the container, adding a little bit of alcohol before looking at Meixiu's wounds.
"Why did you even provoke Tingfeng?"
"I wasn't saying anything; I was just telling him facts."
Meixiu said, wincing as the cotton ball came into contact with her wounds.

"... storm will likely break out later in the evening."
The radio rang as the news broke out. Meixiu and Xiaohui are both on the road already, taking a little longer as Xiaohui slows the drive.
Not clearly that good at driving and not wanting to disturb Meixiu's healing process, she drives very carefully to not cause any accidents.
"Baby, you can drive a little faster."
"No, we need to be careful."
Meixiu sighs and shakes her head, looking at the road and seeing that no car is coming their way.
"There's no car that's driving around."
"Still, you heard what the radio just said."
Upon speaking, the roof of the car can be heard creating a sound, causing the two to look around and see that the rain is starting to fall from the sky.
"I thought it'd start at night?"
Meixiu said, a little confused, as she looked at the radio time and saw that it was just 6:30.
"It's continuing to rain heavily."
Xiaohui said, slowing down more as the rain hit harder. Meixiu sighs before she leans towards the driver's seat.
"Stop for awhile, and let's wait for it to lie low."
Xiaohui nodded as she let Meixiu guide her to park at the side, turning the car off with the heater still on.
Xiaohui turns to the side to look at Meixiu, confusing the taller, as Meixiu also turned to the side to face Xiaohui.
"I think this is the best time we could talk more."
"Aren't we talking for, like, the past 4 years?"
Meixiu raises her eyebrows as Xiaohui shakes her head, smirking at her.
"No, I meant a lot more deeply."
"How deeply do you want it to be?"
"Maybe we could get to know each other more."
Meixiu sighs as she looks away, shaking her head in the process. Xiaohui looks at her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Don't you want to know more about me?"
"If it's you, of course I'm willing, but baby, you don't want to hear my story."
Xiaohui looks at Meixiu in confusion.
"Why?"
"It's messed up."
Meixiu looks at her with all seriousness.
"You don't want to share it with me?"
Hope y'all like the chapter! I don't know how long this story would be but I'll try to finish it this year. Have another book that am excited to release :)
Meixiu shakes her head, her eyes seemingly begging Xiaohui to drop the topic, but the smaller girl doesn't notice it.
"Then why don't you share it?"
"I don't want you to judge me."
Meixiu looks away again, not wanting to look at Xiaohui as the smaller nodded, dropping the topic.
"Ok, we'll just-"
A thunderstorm suddenly broke out of the sky. Xiaohui screamed as her hands quickly went to her ear, closing her eyes in the process.
"Are you alright?"
Meixiu went to Xiaohui's side slightly, grabbing the girl forward to put her arms around her.
The heater went out as Meixiu cursed and rubbed Xiaohui's back.
"Come on, go in the backseat."
Meixiu instructed as Xiaohui nodded, pulling away from the hug as she stepped towards the back.
Meixiu opened the compartment area and sighed widely upon seeing a coat lying inside.
She grabbed it and went to the backseat, sitting beside Xiaohui as she put the coat around the shaking girl.
"The rain keeps getting heavy."
Meixiu said, her eyes looking outside and almost seeing a gray-ish environment, the rain clouding the outside.
Her eyes went to Xiaohui as the girl nodded, her eyes drifting away as Meixiu sighs, knowing already what's inside Xiaohui's mind.
"Do you really want to know who I am?"
Meixiu asks, finally having made up her mind for the past few minutes and feeling guilt eating her up as time goes by.
Xiaohui looks at her, her head shaking but her eyes telling a whole lot different response.
"Fine, after this, I'll tell it to you."
Xiaohui's eyes widen in response as she aggressively shakes her head, her hands going in front and waving it.
"You might be uncomfortable."
"It's fine; I've been meaning to tell you about me anyway since I laid my eyes on you."
Xiaohui's face heated up but was quickly shut down by another thunderstorm. Squealing at how loud the sound is, her arms quickly went towards Meixiu as she hugged the taller girl tightly.
Her face was hiding in Meixiu's neck.
"Well, that was loud."
Meixiu said calmly, her hands going behind Xiaohui as she fixed the girl to be more comfortable.
"I'm sorry."
Xiaohui mumbled enough for Meixiu to hear. The taller person nodded and hummed in response.
"I'm sorry for forcing you to tell me things about you..."
Meixiu shudders as Xiaohui's breath flutters around her neck.
"... and for hugging you."
Meixiu couldn't help but chuckle, as she could already imagine Xiaohui's red face hiding behind her neck.
The smaller woman groans and slaps Meixiu on the shoulder, hiding herself more behind Meixiu's neck.
Another thunderstorm broke outside, but Xiaohui didn't flinch or squeal; she felt more comfortable being so close to Meixiu than she expected.
"Do you remember the night of Grandpa Zheng's birthday?"
Xiaohui nodded her head, still not removing her face from Meixiu's neck.
"Yeah, the time Grandma asks for you to buy crackers?"
Xiaohui said it was more like asking; she isn't sure if that was what really happened that night, but she doesn't want to push anything.
Meixiu sighs and nods before she fixes her body on the seat, her head resting on the headrest, as she contemplates whether to tell her wife or not.
"That night..."
She stops, her words getting caught up in her throat as Xiaohui finally rises from the hug, her hands quickly latching onto Meixiu's cheeks to wipe away the tear that left her eye.
"My father died."
Xiaohui stops, her mouth parted, as she expresses confusion and shock at the same time.
Didn't her father tell everyone she was an orphan?
Meixiu looks at her eyes before holding the hands that are on her cheeks, nodding her head as if answering the question Xiaohui has in her mind.
"I know, Mr. Shen have told everyone that I am an orphan, but that's just to keep my identity hidden."
Xiaohui couldn't help but feel a pang of pain wash over her chest. She trusted Meixiu and thought she would tell her some secrets, but she didn't know the girl was not someone she might have known for the past 5 years.
"I'm sorry, but it needed to be done. Mr. Shen knows how her wife might react to my identity, so he agreed with what my father wanted."
Meixiu looks down on her lap, ashamed that she'll have to say this earlier than expected.
"Also, I'd like to test you as well, and I don't have any words but to thank you, as you've been good to me."
Meixiu continued, her hands feeling a little cold as Xiaohui slowly parted hers.
"I never want you to know this, or if you do, I planned it to be in the future; I didn't know I'd tell it to you right now."
"Meixiu."
Xiaohui finally spoke up; her voice was not filled with emotion like when she called the girl in front of her.
Meixiu nodded as she sighed, understanding that Xiaohui might not forgive her after she revealed everything.
Well, half of everything
"I don't know how I would feel if I were to find out your identity, but promise me, the attitude and gentleness you're showing me are all true."
Meixiu finally looked up, her mouth lifting into a smile as she nodded happily. Excited, her arms quickly wrapped around Xiaohui's body as the smaller girl flinched at the unexpected action.
"Thank you so much. I'll drop every detail on you, but please keep it a secret."
The smaller girl's arms wrapped around Meixiu's body as well, her face going back to its original place as she nodded and hummed.
-
"Xiaohui!"
Tingfeng looks around the area, not seeing a car at the side. He sighs before he walks a little further to see a car.
The morning came with foggy weather because of the hard rain that hit the town.
Xiaowen is worried about Xiaohui and wants to come with Tingfeng, but the guy doesn't want to drag Xiaowen as Xiaohui might get mad at him.
"Xiaohui!"
Hearing a small voice away from the car, Xiaohui stirs from her sleep as she looks up and meets Meixiu's neck.
Her eyes scan the surroundings, and she quickly detaches herself from Meixiu, her cheeks getting painted with a red hue as the taller girl stirs in her sleep.
"Xiaohui!"
The girl cleared her throat before she sat down beside Meixiu, her arms hugging her petite body.
"Good morning; you can stay there, and we'll drive to the town."
Xiaohui nodded her head as Meixiu walked towards the driver's seat, her ears picking up a voice calling for her wife.
"Xiaohui!"
Her eyes looked ahead and saw a silhouette of a man, her mind already knowing who had called for her wife.
Meixiu's hand rested on the steering wheel as she looked at her back, seeing that Xiaohui was looking outside of the window.
"Are you tired? You didn't sleep well last night?"
Meixiu asks, her hand tapping on Xiaohui's knee to snap the girl out of her trance.
The smaller girl looked at her, her eyebrows furrowing as if asking Meixiu to repeat the question she just asked.
"Xiaohui!"
"Are you tired? You didn't sleep well last night?"
Xiaohui smiles at her and shakes her head, fixing the coat that is on top of her body.
"Can we go? I don't want to deal with Tingfeng."
Meixiu smiles at her and nods, caressing the smaller girl's knee in the process.
"Anything for my baby."
She looks away, not noticing Xiaohui's red cheeks as she starts the car and drives past Tingfeng.
"Xiaohui!"
Hey guys! I plan on updating daily this time but would y'all give the day tomorrow for me to ready a few chapters? Anyways, hope y'all like it :)
