Capítulo 22: An Unknown Motive
Vivian checked out of The Lavish Suites. After three months, she finally walked out and advised Jon that she wanted to file a case for her missing jewelry. She has sent her lawyers to speak with him, because each and every time she tried to, he obviously avoided her. Atty. Hudson, a tall man with dark grey hair and deep green eyes, went to see Jon, but he had his representative do the task for him. "Attorney Hudson, pleased to meet you", said Mr. Morgan, the resident counsel of the hotel chain. Attorney Clarence Morgan, a man in his early fifties has been working for the Albertsons even before Jonathan's birth. A man with thinning light brown curly hair, he always wears his hat which makes him look like an English man. "Good morning," he replied. "My client, as you know, has filed a complaint following the incident when her jewelry was lost in one of your suites." Hudson said to him in reply, "Mr. Albertson will be waiting for documents, he is willing to face the charges." Attorney Hudson told Jon the other day that this case is going to ruin the business empire. Whatever the court decides, guests will soon find out about the incident, which could lead to declined bookings due to loss of trust. Mismanagement may also be pointed out, considering the fact that he had been seen in public places, dating an employee which will count as conflict of interest, and since those times happened during his work hours. Apparently, there is no news that was published regarding the situation. Both parties have agreed not to call the press and to keep the settlement private, only if there will be such. "I see," Attorney Morgan got up from his seat, and offered a handshake. "We'll have to see you in court if that is the case." Attorney Hudson shook his hand firmly, and after the visitor walked out, he immediately called Jon and told him what had happened. "What should we do then? I am afraid this will get to my father in no time, this will eventually lead to a huge loss." Jon started to get anxious, but Morgan told him, "If it happened during her early days of staying, why file the case just now?" Jon did not entertain the idea, "I am so much worried about the possible losses, this is going to ruin our reputation." "We are going to look into it, I assure you." he told Jon, trying to calm him down, then he hung up.
Morgan started to wonder about Vivian's motive for filing the case. She has lost many of her precious gems during the first week of her stay in The Lavish, but claims an inside job after months of staying, hardly mentioning it to anyone inside the premise, except for a few people. She told Jon about it, and Lee came along with some security personnel to investigate. Alex and Cathy were also there because of mere coincidence, some staff were called to check if there was a forced entry and if there could be someone who entered her suite without her knowledge, but both possibilities were dumped by the security footage. Nobody but Vivian Desmonde herself was seen entering the suite. Morgan called Jon back, and as soon as he picked up, he told him, "Jon, there has to be something else." There was a pause and Jon did not reply. "This is not about her confrontation with Catherine. Vivian had something in her mind from the beginning. Her jewels were lost three months earlier, the scene with Catherine happened a few days ago." Jon quickly answered, "Whatever it is, we are going to find out." After saying such, Morgan hung up and walked to his office table, and put out a dark brown envelope from one of its drawers. He opened it, and got a small pile of documents. On the front page was written, "ALLANA ALBERTSON MURDER". Attorney Morgan then turned his computer on, where he searched for the case of the death of Allana, Jon's mother. She had been murdered when he was young, but no one had been put to jail due to lack of evidence. He then thought to himself, "Could this be the missing link?"
