"Amber," a child's voice called out. "Amber, wait for me!"
A young woman turned around and looked at the girl yelling from her house.
"Mom said I could go with you! Please wait! I'll be ready in five seconds!"
The front door slammed shut on the last word. Amber sighed and slowly retraced her steps to the house. One minute later, her sister Lauren popped back outside. She flashed an adorable smile only a twelve year old could get away with.
"I can't wait to go to the bookstore," Lauren said while skipping as they headed down the street.
Amber laughed, "You are a strange child. Begging Mom to let you go to the bookstore with me! Ha, I would've never done that at your age. The arcade, yes; but, never the bookstore."
"It's not where we're going, it's who I'm with," Lauren said. "I never get to hang out with you anymore now that you're working full-time! So, if you're going to the bookstore, I'm going to the bookstore."
"Aww, 'Ren! Don't make me cry, kiddo!" Amber gave her sister a quick side hug, "Tell you what: why don't you find a book that you're interested in at the shop and I'll see if a certain someone will read it to you until it's done. It'll be just like when we were younger!"
"Any book?" Lauren asked, "What if it's a long one?"
"Then we'll just have to read a chapter every night! But, I have a feeling I'm going to regret giving you free reign over this!"
Hey guys! Thank you so much for checking out my story! I plan on making this just a short one to give me the confidence and experience to write a longer novel that I've been planing for a while. Hope y'all enjoy! And I welcome any and all feedback!
