Capítulo 42: Recruit Position

While Luke was heading to the park near his mother's workplace, a serious discussion unfolded at the headquarters of the Extreme Martial Dojo, situated in the High District of Yang Zhou City.

"Captain, Lieutenant, have you both finished choosing the new students for this year?" asked Morris, the bearded man in charge of the test. A corporal at the Extreme Martial Dojo, Morris was also a 4-Star Warrior Stage.

Captain Thomas adjusted his uniform and replied,

"Yes, we have carefully selected the most promising candidates from the pool of applicants. These recruits will undergo rigorous training to ensure they are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. With this group, I believe we can continue to uphold the reputation of the Extreme Martial Dojo as the finest in Yang Zhou City."

Lieutenant Kevin nodded in agreement, adding, "Morris, take this and invite them personally." Lieutenant Kevin handed a paper to Morris, containing the names and details of the recruits.

Morris eagerly accepted the paper, scanning through the list with anticipation. As he read the names, he noticed a particular candidate who stood out. 'I knew that kid would be selected,' Morris thought to himself.

Luke Dawbringer's name was highlighted on the paper, and Morris couldn't help but smile.

His smile didn't go unnoticed by both Thomas and Kevin. "Morris, make sure you pay special attention to that kid; not only did he have the best result in the physical tests, but he also aced the speed and Cosmic Energy tests," Thomas remarked, nodding towards Luke's name.

Kevin chimed in, "Yes, that kid is already a 1-Star Warrior, but his physical strength is still that of a Peak Warrior Apprentice; he clearly just broke through recently."

Thomas continued, "It's impressive to see someone so young and talented. I have a feeling Luke Dawbringer is going to be a force to be reckoned with in our ranks. We should keep an eye on him and provide him with the necessary guidance to harness his potential."

Morris nodded, his smile widening. He liked people with potential and was always eager to help them grow.

"Okay, you could leave now and start assigning everyone their positions," Thomas said. Morris nodded and turned to leave the room, feeling a surge of excitement.

As he walked down the hallway, he couldn't help but check Luke's position in the dojo, since he was still new and needed training. He would eventually be a student in the dojo.

"What!" His heart skipped a beat as he saw Luke's position in the dojo.

"Are the Captain and Lieutenant crazy!?" Morris couldn't believe his eyes as he saw Luke's position in the dojo.

"Are you sure that you want to give that kid a position like that?" Kevin asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Haha, Kevin, don't worry about that kid, and it's not like I will give him that position without him earning it," replied Thomas.

"He is a 1-Star Warrior, after all; even if his strength and speed are weak, he is still a 1-Star Warrior, so I will give him the chance to prove himself. He may surprise us all."

"...But if you put him with the others at his level, he wouldn't be able to keep up," Kevin interjected. "I understand your point, Thomas, but putting him with other warriors might be risky."

"Don't worry about it, Kevin. I have thought about that too," reassured Thomas.

"Even if he fails, he could return to being a student until he is ready to try again. I just want to see what that kid could do." Thomas believed in giving everyone a fair chance to prove themselves and grow.

He knew that sometimes pushing individuals out of their comfort zones was necessary for their personal development. He was willing to take the risk and give the young warrior an opportunity to shine, even if it meant facing failure.

"Huff, really, in the history of the Extreme Martial Dojo, it is the first time I heard of a new student being promoted to recruit the first day he joined." Thomas chuckled, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he heard Kevin's words.

"Hahaha, don't worry, Kevin," Thomas replied, patting Kevin on the back.

Kevin could only shake his head at his friend's optimism.

Recruits are different from students; students are only in the Warrior Apprentice Stage, while recruits have already advanced to the 1-Star Warrior Stage, not to mention that they could start exploring the Wilderness outside the safe zone.

But before a student can advance to a recruit, they must satisfy two conditions: one is to advance to a 1-Star warrior, and the second is to pass the recruit-level test.

The test for 1-Star Warriors is different from testing Warrior Apprentices since this time the Extreme Martial Dojo wouldn't check their stats but would check their combat skills and their ability to adapt to different environments.

An 18-year-old boy who just entered the 1-Star Warrior Stage would be crushed by the immense pressure. Even if Luke was talented, Kevin didn't think he would be able to handle it.

Not to mention, that the kid never saw a beast before; Kevin was sure that Luke had never seen one before, as experienced warriors typically encounter beasts daily, so they have a certain aura around them.

Not to mention the smell of blood that lingers on their bodies.

Kevin wondered if Luke would be able to stomach the sight of blood, let alone engage in combat.

It was clear that it was too early for him to become a recruit and start exploring outside the safe zone.

'Well, I just hope that nothing too dangerous happens while he starts his test,' Kevin thought to himself. Since Thomas wanted to test Luke, Kevin couldn't help but accept since the latter had a higher position than himself.

In the end, Kevin decided to brush this matter aside since if Luke failed, he could just train with the other students until he was ready to become a recruit.

"I will also go; I still have some work to do," Kevin said, trying to sound nonchalant.

"Sure," Thomas replied with a nod.

With that settled, Kevin gathered his belongings and made his way out of the room. After he left, he couldn't help but smile.

"Oh, how long has it been that this dojo has someone interesting, Luke? I hope you don't disappoint me."
