Capítulo 3: The Fabled Trial

The U.A's entrance exam, it sure is intimidating right?

I mean how could it not be? This whole goddammed thing is talked about in almost every Hero media outlet in Japan.

Every year in March, 19.000+ middle schoolers come here every year to take a test that determines if they got accepted as a student in what many consider the top Hero Academy in Japan or walk home defeated.

The first thing that those 19.000 people would see when arriving at U.A is, of course, the building itself, which is massive btw.

The main building is a system of 4 massive separate buildings that are interconnected through several bridges that were placed right in the middle point of each building.

When looked at from the front gate the building would make the giant letter "H", maybe it stands for "Hero" or "Heroic" idk, maybe it doesn't even mean anything and i'm just overthinking this.

And so i walked through the entrance with the other participants from my bus, while we walked we were presented with a row of statues decorating the side of the main road towards the main building, all of them were once students of this school who were all now famous heroes, businessmen, scientists, all of it.

This is where the best that ever came out of U.A is immortalized, their background and achievement written in marble right below their statue's feet.

All the big names are here, top heroes, famous scientists, CEOs, it has it all.

But right outside of the main door is the biggest statue of them all, it was a statue of All Might with his iconic smile on his face and his hand pointing down the main road as if saying.

"The next one to stand on this podium is YOU!"

As we walk further down the street i see that the front gate of the main building is packed with participants eager to enter the building.

You can see all kinds of people here.

From a massive guy with a very unusual robot-like head with a bunch of holes on his face, and when i say massive, i mean massive like, i'm 175 cm (5'89") and this guy is like, a full head taller than me, how the hell are we even the same age.

And in comparison right next to him is, i swear to God i'm not making fun of him, the shortest person i've ever seen with my own eyes, and on top of that (literally), his hair is made up of this big purple balls, i'm pretty sure that's his Quirk but i don't have any idea of what it does.

Same for the big guy really but from his frame, i'm thinking along the lines of super strength, maybe, idk i'm probably wrong.

Those two are not the only strange ones here though, there's pink girl, frog girl, bird head guy, grand canyon head guy, mohawk bug head guy, white on black a.k.a me if my hair and skin color were switched and i never shaved my hair, an actual Bigfoot, and the strangest of all, a normal ass guy IF his head wasn't an actual goddammed speech bubble, i can't comprehend how he can possibly breathe let alone speak.

Well enough thinking about others, back to myself, as i walk towards the main door i see a green-haired guy stumbling on his feet and falling face first towards the ground.

"This could either be funny, or just sad"

I thought to myself.

But just before the guy's face could hit the pavement, a girl suddenly whooped in and touched the guy's shoulder.

And then, the guy begins to float and stops his fall immediately, that's a neat Quirk.

Ignoring them and their little interaction, i decided to just walk inside and went on my own way.

~Written Exam~

I'm going to keep it short for you, it's an absolute hell but it's a straightforward forward one.

All HOTS, 45 questions, 2 hours, and no cheating, pretty simple in concept.

Oh but the practical part, that's a whole other matter.

~Practical Exam~

• U.A High Heroics Entrance Exam Briefing •

I was walking inside the auditorium looking around for my assigned seat while also looking around the giant room.

"It's massive!"

I thought to myself, well just about everything here is massive so i shouldn't be so surprised by now, but still.

When i finally found my assigned seat, i just decided to wait for the briefing to start and also re-read the pamphlet that they gave us.

Mock City, 4 robot types, defeat as many as you can, and don't fight other participants, pretty straightforward.

Then while i'm still in the middle of reading, all of the lights went off, and the light on the main stage turned on dramatically, revealing a lone man with banana-like hair standing behind a lectern.

"Gooood morning fellow candidates! And welcome to my live show! Now come on, let's start this off with some energy.

Everybody Say Heeey!"

"HEEEY!"

Most of us cheered.

That guy on the podium right there, that's The Voice Hero: Present Mike, he's quite a popular Hero around here.

And apparently, he's a teacher here too, in fact, all of the teachers here at U.A Hero Course are heroes.

"There it is! Alright, now that you're all here, i'm gonna give you a brief explanation of the practical test."

Present Mike started, but it was getting kinda hard to hear him.

You know that green-haired kid from earlier?

Yeah, he is sitting right above me and he just won't stop muttering to himself, like bro, i don't need to know about how you listen to his podcast every week and how touching it is, please, just let me listen.

"Now i'm sure that all of you have already read the pamphlet given to you so i'm just going to rehearse that.

All candidates will have to participate in a 10-minute-long mock battle.

You can bring any items you want to help you with the test as long as they correlate with your Quirk.

After this speech, you will all be transferred to your designated arena where you will be performing the test with other candidates understand‽"

Present Mic starts off.

"So no teaming up from students from the same school huh?"

Someone said behind me.

"So if there are students that come from the same school their arena would be separated? That makes sense i guess"

I thought to myself.

I then looked at my own admission ticket to see where my arena would be.

"So Battle Center F? Alright then."

After that short pause, Present Mic then continued on his explanation.

"The arena has 4 types of Villain-Bots.

You can earn points by taking them down, and the difficulty of the robot dictates the amount of points you can earn.

There are the 1-point bots, 2-point bots, and 3-point bots.

Use your Quirk to defeat the Villain-Bots and accumulate points.

It goes without saying that villainous behavior like attacking other candidates is strictly prohibited.

No-"

"I have a question!"

Someone suddenly exclaimed.

"I am sorry for interrupting but, the pamphlet here says that there are 4 Villain-Bots, and you have also mentioned that yet why didn't you mention the points of the 4th Villain-Bots, did you perhaps make some kind of mistake?

This is very unbecoming of Japan's No. 1 U.A High.

We, the candidates came here to seek guidance from model heroes."

Who asked? You might ask, well i don't know either.

It was a tall guy with a cream-colored suit and a pair of square glasses on him.

He has short dark blue hair, flattened neatly down and parted on the right side of his head.

"And also, YOU! The guy with the curly hair!

You've been muttering nonstop since the start of this briefing.

It's unprofessional, if you are here to only play around then please leave now."

Damn, that's mean calling him out like that but, he kinda got it coming for him.

Then again i almost thought that he was pointing at me since my hair is also a little curly but thankfully he was not.

Still felt a little bad for the guy tho, especially after he squeaked a little

"I'm sorry"

Bro sounded like he was about to cry.

"Alright. Ok. Candidates 7111.

That's a good observation and an excellent question. Thank you.

The 4th Villain-Bot gives you 0 points, the 0-point bots.

It's basically only there to distract you, so you can defeat it, but you'll get no benefit and you'll waste your energy and time.

I suggest everyone just avoid it instead."

Present Mic answered.

" *Bow* Thank you for your response! Please pardon my directness."

The guy said while bowing his body perfectly at 90°.

After that murmurs began to break out in the auditorium.

"So that means we have to avoid it?"

"This is just like a game."

"How many of them will there be in the arena?"

And so on.

But while everybody is busy theorizing about the test i'm more focused on the real question.

"Will there be a bathroom in the arena?"

But i kept that question to myself and just decided to go to the bathroom before going to the arena.

"That's all for now."

Present Mic cuts between the murmurs to silence them.

"Lastly, our school motto.

As the great Hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said:

"True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life, in whatever shape they may challenge us to combat"

- Napoleon Bonaparte

This means that a true Hero must always be striving to go further than what most people are willing to go.

So go beyond!

PLUS ULTRA!

That! Is our school motto.

Now all of you are dismissed, and please go to your designated bus where you will be taken to your respective arena"

Present Mic finished with his speech.

Well, i guess that means i have to be quick.

"Toilet!"

Is the only thing on my mind as i bolted out of the auditorium.

• Battle Center F •

This place is SO much larger than i could possibly anticipate, like holy shit.

It is a small city or a town, but a whole town compared to a bunch of middle schoolers, that is still huge.

After we were dropped off the bus in front of the giant city gate, we kinda just started chatting with ourselves.

"I can't believe they got multiple places like these around the campus, how much money could they possibly have?"

"I like it honestly, they go all out on everything, never cutting any corners."

"Including our safety?"

"God i hope so"

Well it is pretty boring right now, when will the next instruction come-

"And Start!"

We all froze for a second, and then we all looked confused at the tower with the speaker on top of it.

"What? The real battle won't have any countdown for you to follow! Now GO! GO! GO!"

And just like that all of us raced inside the city, and so the test has officially begun.

• Inside Battle Center F •

Chaos.

People running everywhere in every direction trying to take down as many robots as they can, and oh boy are there many.

Some started splitting into groups to maximize their points and safety, while some decided to break off from the main group alone to get as many points as possible for themself.

And i, belong to the latter group of people.

When Present Mic was finished with his talking, all of us were quick on our feet, we began to run inside the Mock City as fast as we could, and right after we entered the city gate, that's when i decided to break off.

"Showtime!"

Planting both of my feet on the ground i immediately began to grow bones from the soles of my feet and propel myself into the air with them, i used the length and the force generated by my bones growing super fast to launch myself straight to the city center.

"Holy shit!"

"That guy is crazy!"

"Watch where you raise those pillars you asshole! I almost ran into them!"

A lot of voices expressed their surprised reaction to my action but by then i was already too far into the sky.

After reaching my desired height, i broke the bones that extend from my feet.

*Crack!*

The familiar feeling of a sudden sharp pain from breaking my own bones filled my head with much-needed adrenaline as i let myself enter a free fall toward the ground.

As the ground grew ever closer i immediately enclosed myself in a suit of Bone Armour and grew a bit more bones on my front to act as a crumple zone and absorb most of the energy of the impact and keep them from damaging my body.

Looking down i could see A LOT of robots waiting for me, and as i got closer to the ground they suddenly began to pile on top of each other as if desperately trying to reach me.

And then, came the impact.

*BOOM!*

"AAAAAHHHHH!"

I thought adrenaline was supposed to take your mind off the pain?

But good God, the PAIN.

Right after the pain came crashing in i immediately broke off my broken-to-pieces crumple zone and finally allowed myself to move around.

I look around frantically trying to get my bearings back and go on with the test, the amount of adrenaline that is pumping through me makes it a little more easier to focus on my objective.

Take down the Villain-Bots.

A long piece of bone began to grow out from my palm and kept going until it was as long as i was tall and even more.

And from the tip of the bone construct more bones grow out from the sides turning the tip of the pole into something similar to a medieval war hammer.

After i'm done creating my weapon and broke it off from my palm, i shed a layer of the bones that i used for armor to make myself lighter and more agile.

*Bonk!*

The first Villain-Bot that entered my range did not survive for long as it received a hit right to it's head caving his head in on itself and shutting down it's system in an instant.

"Alright you clankers! Have at it!"

More and more bots began to converge on my location, firing their arsenals in my direction.

Rubber bullets, laser-guided micro missiles, and freaking hydraulic power claw, it was an all-out war and i'm starting to regret going here alone.

But hey, i'm just hoping that the amount of points i'll get will be worth it.

*Smash!* *Smash!*

I swing my hammer as hard as i can at any Villain-Bot i can reach, with the amount of them surrounding me accuracy is just not a problem.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

"Grrrrrrr"

I only let out a growl as i tried to endure the pain of getting hit by those missiles.

More missiles and rubber bullets began to hit my armor of bones, each direct hit slowly chipping them away making it thinner and thinner.

Then suddenly.

*Swoosh*

I had to drop my body low to avoid an incoming power claw from a 2-pointer right behind me.

"Shit, that was close"

I thought to myself.

After dodging it's attack i use the spike end of my war hammer to stab one of it's front legs and make it lean down allowing me to cave it's head in as i smash it with my hammer.

*Ratatatatatatatatata!*

Two 1-pointer bots began shooting their load all over me forcing me to take cover.

Thinking quickly, i used the body of the 2-pointer that i just took down and raised it up and made it act as a barrier between me and the hail of rubber bullets.

After securing the body i turned around to deal with the Villain-Bots that were previously behind me.

Two 3-pointer and one 2-pointer in front of them acting as a shield between me and the 3-pointers behind it.

The 2-pointer engaged me first as the 3-pointers behind it were preparing to launch it's missiles.

The 2-pointer thrust it's tail at me forcing me to dodge it by stepping to the side.

Deciding to focus on the incoming missiles i stabbed the 2-pointer's tail and then planted my war hammer to the ground removing it's ability to move around.

Turning to face the incoming missiles i drop down to one knee and cross my armored arm in front of me.

I began to grow bones from my forearms shaping them into a circular shield, big enough to cover my whole body.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

"Mmmmfffff- fuck

The missiles began to hit and i endured them behind my bone shield, i could still feel the heat and force of each explosion like they were actually hitting me.

Well, technically they are since that is still my own bones but the important thing is that my actual body is not hit, the pain could be dealt with later.

Plus they help a bit by making my brain produce more adrenaline to cope with the pain.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

The barrage kept going.

Not wanting to keep this up for too long, i grow my shield to be wider so that it covers the 3-pointer's sight of me.

Turning around again i rush toward the still-stuck 2-pointer, wanting to take it down immediately and retrieve my war hammer back.

Sure i could've just made another one, but why not save the energy and just retrieve the one already created?

From the knuckles of my armored hand, spikes began to grow out of them, i reinforced the tip to prevent it from breaking on impact.

When i got near it, the 2-pointer tried to use it's claw against me.

After dodging one of it's claws and parrying the other one, i forcefully climbed on it's back before i began pummeling the top of it's head with my own hands.

*Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!* *Punch!*

As i hit it one last time, it's armor plating gave up from the pressure of the punch and broke down.

With the 2-pointer dealt with, i took back my war hammer and went around again to attack the 3-pointers.

Wanting to catch them off guard, if that's even possible, i decided to immediately rush out from the cover of my shield.

The two 3-pointers immediately notice me and aim their launcher at me, preparing to continue their barrage.

But before they could fire their first missiles, i threw my war hammer at them, hitting one of them right on it's head.

Not letting the other one retaliate, i quickly rushed at the body of the fallen 3-pointer and ripped my hammer out of it's head, and slammed it at the other bot's head.

*Pant* *Pant* *Pant*

My lungs felt like burning up, every breath i took just filled my insides with pain.

Yet there are still so many left.

"Shit *pant* *pant* how long will this fucking test last? *pant* *pant* shit!"

I look around at the still numerous Villain-Bots, my whole body is screaming at me in exhaustion begging me to take a rest.

But there's still so many.

God, i sound like an addict.

"Just a little more"

I told myself, just a little more, and surely the time would run out.

"There he is!"

A voice suddenly called.

I look toward the direction of the voice and i see, several groups of participants all running in my direction.

"I'm saved!"

I excitedly thought.

But then i realised.

"Wait, they're not here to save me, they're here for the Villain-Bots! I need more points!"

And just like that, as the paranoia of not having enough points to pass kicked in, my brain just decided to ignore the pain and exhaustion signal from all over my body and forced it to keep going.

"Dammit look at how much he had already taken down. That's why he launched to the center area immediately."

"He's hogging up all of the points! Get the rest that is left!"

Damn right i hog up all of them points, it's not enough that i succeeded, others must fail.

Smashing the head of another 3-pointer, i was about to throw my war hammer at a 1-pointer not far behind it but, someone suddenly jumped onto the 1-pointer and began punching the shit out of it's head with his bare hands.

But i realized that his skin was silver colored, and every time his fist hit the robot's plating it made the sound of metal hitting metal.

"So his Quirk turns him into a metal human? That's cool."

I mused myself.

Some of these people's fighting abilities are insane, guess this means that i'll just have to get more points.

• Monitor Room •

Inside a dark room, i mean a very dark room, where it's interior is only dimly lit by one massive monitor hanging on the room's wall, and the screen of the monitor shows a perspective of each arena where the practical tests are being conducted.

Inside the room, various figures are sitting on their chair as they observe the various floating screens shown on the monitor.

"For this practical exam, the number and location of enemies are secrets."

Said a male voice inside the room.

"But their placement is consistent on all of the Battle Center, the closer you are to the center of the arena, the more Villain-Bots there are.

And because of the time limit and the huge space of each battle center, they'll need to compete with one another for every point they can find. They need to analyze their current situation, adapt to every circumstance, keep their heads cool, and show their battle prowess.

The basics to maintain peace is measured here via points."

The one that just explains about the circumstances of the participants just now was not even human.

Two of the most noticeable features of him are his head and his height.

He has the head of a mouse with circular black eyes, a large scar over the right one, and stands at a short stance of 85 cm (2'9½").

About as tall as a capybara's length, a little taller than them if you measure them from their shoulder height.

"This year's batch seems interesting enough i must say."

Now, a female voice exclaimed.

"Too early to say."

A different male voice confronts her.

"Because the real trial...begins now."

A hand opened the protective glass that covered a large red button, the protective glass had a label on it that read, "Yakuri Switch".

*Press*

• Battle Center F •

I was not having a great time, like, at all.

I can't believe how reckless some of these people are, like holy shit, there is a group of 3-pointers right down the street, how the fuck did you think that running straight at it with no means of protection whatsoever is a great fucking idea‽

I mean, i know i sounded like a hypocrite just now, remembering that i've done that exact same thing, multiple times before, but you know what? At least i have my armor. Plus, most of the time i usually use a shield or the robot's corpse as a meat shield while i'm rushing at them.

These dumbasses? They ain't got shit but skin and meat as armor.

Some of the people here actually have some kind of defense-type Quirk, like that silver dude from earlier, they usually act as a shield on the front, taking the robot's attention and tanking their attack.

But this particular group of idiots? They don't have any of that on their stupid little suicidal charge, i bet they haven't actually known what it felt like to actually be hit by those fucking missiles.

"Arrgggh, fuck it, i guess i'll help them a little."

But because they're too far away from me, i decided to take a different approach than my usual one.

Suddenly, as the 3-pointers fired their volley of missiles at the group of idiots, they all got impaled by a large bone spike that came from underneath the ground under them.

While for the little party that was rushing at them? Well of course i help them too by making a bone wall to shield them from the missiles.

But i make that wall just barely thick enough to not immediately crumble when the missiles hit, but i make sure that it won't survive the whole barrage, just giving them a little lesson about having a little sense of self-perseverance.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Break!*

As the wall got blasted away, the amount of explosive it was taking knocked the group on their asses from the force of the explosion alone.

"Aarrgh! Dammit, thank you whoever made that wall, and fuck you too for stealing our points!"

Said one of them, now i can't really call him ungrateful, but still, fuck you too.

Then suddenly, a massive tremor hit the whole mock city causing all of us to drop to the ground as buildings suddenly began to collapse in the city center.

And just as the tremor continues, from the dust of the collapsed buildings, one massive motherfucking robot rises out from the dust and turns it's massive head in our direction.

The 0-pointer has been released.

Now i understand the real reason why Present Mic advised us to avoid it.

How the fuck are we supposed to deal with that anyway?

All of us looked at the absolute unit that was taller than the buildings surrounding it in either fear or absolute terror.

As the 0-pointer reeled it's massive arm back to cock up a punch, most of us are already running in the opposite direction while those that are too petrified to even escape just stood there, frozen in fear.

But no matter how far any of us could run that time, it wouldn't matter.

When the 0-pointer throws a punch on the ground in front of it, it creates a shockwave that is taller than the robot itself.

But the real problem is not that, no, it was the super strong gust of wind, dust, and building chunks and rubbles that got thrown in our direction that was the problem.

The tremor that was caused by that punch alone forced us to fall on the ground again and the dust that was sent by the wind forced us to cover our eyes as well.

And when the dust finally cleared and i could see again, the effect of that single punch, was not pretty.

Because of how close we are to the 0-pointer, a lot of people are blown away from the shockwave of the punch and multiple people are now trapped under the rubbles of collapsed buildings, struggling to free themself.

People began to run away, regardless of the people that were now trapped they decided to save themself first.

I guess it's true that, in moments of stress, people unintentionally show their true colors.

And it's no small number of people either, most of us have already fled away, some straight to the city's gate, some to search for more points away from the 0-pointer, but some of them stayed.

Those who stayed were either too scared to move or were contemplating their next decision.

Run. Or, save the ones that needed help.

But i say fuck contemplating it, if i want to be a Hero, i'll say doing something heroic would be a good start.

I ran towards the closest of the trapped participants, a chubby boy with a round face and ice-blue colored hair, now covered in dirt and dust.

"HEY! Hey you! Where are you stuck‽"

I asked him.

"O-oh! M-my right leg, it's just stuck don't worry! I'm not hurt!"

Immediately i began to lift the rubble off of his leg as he wiggled and moved his leg around to free himself.

Finally, after some more wiggling he finally pulled his leg out of the rubble and freed himself.

"There you go! If you're injured go to the back, if you're not, help me help some other people!"

I tell him.

"I can help you! My Quirk will be helpful!"

Well good, this guy is keeping his cool too, maybe even better than me, guess he's good then.

"Follow me, there's multiple people stuck over the-"

"WAIT!"

Suddenly as i was talking, someone screamed at us making us turn our heads toward the source of the scream.

"Please let me help too! I can help!"

It was the silver guy, so he's still here too, more help means good.

"Alright then let's go-"

"TWO MINUTES LEFT!"

Once again, somebody just had to cut me off, now it's Present Mic announcing that there are two minutes left for the exam.

Wait.

"Two minutes left‽ Have i gotten enough points‽"

My thoughts began to stir in panic, how many Villain-Bots did i take down? I didn't count.

Did i take down enough to pass? I didn't know.

Is there any point in saving those who are trapped? We're in a test, not a real situation, there should be people who are always watching us and making sure anything doesn't go wrong.

Should i leave and get more points?...

"Hey!"

A voice snapped me out of my trance, it was the chubby boy, looking at me with conviction in his eyes.

"Let's go! There's still two minutes left, it should be enough to help all of them!'

"Yeah, let's go!"

Those two.

"They're right."

Oh yeah, i'm still not a Hero yet, and i understand now what makes them a better Hero than me.

"Yeah! Let's go!"

It's the willingness to sacrifice for other's sake.

I don't know if i have that drive in me, i'll just follow them, knowing that they did the right thing, and i'll do the same.

And so we spend those last two minutes lifting people out of the rubbles, that chubby boy, or Nirengeki Shoda now that he tells me his name, his Quirk really is useful.

His is Quirk "Twin Impact," which allowed him to create a second impact remotely or on contact and at his discretion, at the site of any initial impact. And that second impact is many times stronger than the initial one.

And he can channel that power through people too, so when i punch something while he is holding my shoulder or even my leg, he can use his Quirk through me, and the second impact will be even stronger than my initial one.

But i must admit tho, that strategy is way more effective when used on that silver guy, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, God i felt bad for almost laughing at his name but he on the other hand seems to be really proud of his name, with his own words he say to me.

"It is a testament to my parents' sheer intellect and psychic prowess, they have predicted my Quirk way before i was in my mother's womb."

Oh yeah, his Quirk is "Steel", it allows him to turn his skin into steel.

Pretty straightforward, just like it's owner.

He is virtually impenetrable, his Quirk gives him superhuman strength, he is resistant to extreme heat, and he is as reckless as an angry bull.

With his strength and with help from Shoda's Quirk there is no rubble too big for us to move.

And all is fine and dandy until fucking Cherno Alpha just decides to wake up and start rolling it's giant fucking threads towards us.

Now it should be okay cause there's only one person left to save, but this one person, this one girl is not trapped under a piece of rubble or a piece of a building no, it's a whole ass floor, standing vertically on it's side.

Her legs are not surviving this one that's for sure.

"COME OOONNN!"

Tetsutetsu kept trying desperately to move, destroy, or do anything to the floor that was crushing the girl's legs, but he had hit his limit, he had used his Quirk for too long and was now in a state of iron deficiency.

And Shoda couldn't do anything else, he had tried everything but nothing worked, the girl had already given up and i...i don't know what to do.

I'm not strong enough to save the girl, i'm not strong enough to-...

"Fuck it, no point in letting anything back now"

This is the final thought i have in my head as i decide my next course of action and my next objective.

Stop that motherfucker.

I quickly began to take off my shoes and socks to prepare for my final attack.

"Honshiro-san, what are you doing?"

Shoda asked me.

"Finishing the fight."

Goddamn, do i feel really cool right now.

Bones grow out of my palms and feet stabbing into the ground beneath me, using my utmost focus and control i grow them as fast as i possibly can.

Reaching under the 0-pointer's massive threads i began sprouting giant bone spikes to try and stop the robot's movement.

*Stab!* *Snap!* *Stab!* *Snap!* *Stab!* *Snap!* *Stab!* *Snap!*

I could feel the first four bones that tried to impale the threads are instantly snapped from the sheer weight of the robot.

But i wasn't planning on giving up either.

*Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!*

More and more gigantic bone spikes began emerging from the ground and stabbed the robot's threads enough time to make it stop it's advances on us.

"It's lifting it's hands Honshiro!"

I heard Tetsutetsu screamed

And as i look up towards the 0-pointer's body, it has already lifted both of it's arms halfway across it's massive frame.

"Hold on, i'll try something!"

I'm almost out of energy, the exhaustion from the start of the test is beginning to catch up to me, and they're becoming increasingly hard for my brain to ignore.

Using every last drop of energy that i could muster, i willed my bones to grow even more inside of the 0-pointer.

Branch after branch i began to sprout inside the 0-pointer's massive body, to it's arms, to it's neck, and finally, to it's head, i could see darkness from the corner of my eyes just as i watched the robot's 8 red "eyes" turns dark as the light inside them turns off when i puncture what i assume to be it's main power source.

It's arms was already fully over it's head, ready to crush us all, if not for it's eventual destruction.

*Pant* *Pant* *Pant* *Pant* *Pant*

It's hard to breathe, everything is dark and i can't focus on anything.

"...shiro! Hon.....! Please res...nd!"

Who's that, chubby boy? No, Soba, Nirengeki Soba? I think that's his name.

"Hey man! Ho...iro-san! Are you okay‽"

Tetsutetsu, oh yeah i remember now.

"T-Tetsutetsu *Pant* *Pant* c-come here"

I rasped out to call him with my dry mouth.

"Huh? What is it man? Are you okay?"

He asks genuinely concerned.

"I...

i...

i thought your eyelashes were fake at first, i'm sorry."

Soba just giggled to himself on the back while Tetsutetsu just stared at me with such a funny angry expression i couldn't help but laugh as well.

"Oh we got a world-class comedian over here! Screw you."

We all have a short moment to laugh for a moment, to just laugh it all away.

"Umm excuse me but, can you help me out of this before you guys celebrate?"

A very familiar emotionless voice calls out from beside Soda.

"Mrs. Kodai?"

I immediately looked at the person who we were trying to save this whole time, her face void of any emotion, her voice even more.

It is not Mrs. Kodai but goddamn does she look really close to her, is she related to her?

"O-Oh! Yeah, sorry about that uh... Honshiro-san could you help me with this? You too Tetsutetsu-san."

And so we went on and freed her, i began growing a bone to lift the floor a little while also creating a cover for her so that if the structure collapsed, she wouldn't be crushed.

Soba and Tetsutetsu slowly began dragging her out from under that floor and to a safer place so that her wound could be treated properly when help came.

"I can help you with your bones."

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

Well, i understand their reaction completely i mean, how would you feel if you just had your bones crushed to bits and then some pale guy with pitch black eyes came up to you and claimed that he could heal your bones, i'd be sceptical too.

"TIMES UP! THE THE PRACTICAL TEST IS OVER!"

Present Mic finally, announced the end of the practical test.

"Well...do you trust me?"

I asked her.

She takes a few moments to think before giving me her answer.

"I'll...I'll trust you."

I only gave her a nod as a response before i began to detach myself from my extended bones, this time without snapping them but instead disintegrating them, which is a lot less painful than just snapping them free but it's also slower.

As i walked towards her sitting form i glanced at her face again, she was just getting more and more similar to Mrs. Kodai the more i talked to her.

"This is going to be a little painful, so please tell me if you want to bite something or not."

She nodded her head.

Soba and Tetsutetsu watch in curiosity and nervousness as i begin with my procedure.

I inserted a small piece of my bones into her leg and began fixing and rebuilding her leg bones from the inside, she almost let out a yelp of pain as i began moving around inside her.

Piece by piece i began putting her bones back into their proper place, taking a glance at her face i could see that she was clearly in pain but she refused to let out any voice.

Stopping my movement, i extend my unoccupied hand towards her and create a small piece of bone, big enough for her to bite.

After finishing the treatment, i disconnected my bones from hers but left a small amount of my bones inside her that i used to reconnect her broken ones.

After some time, her body should adapt and claim the small amount of bones that i put in her as her own, it will be able to grow normally so it should be fine.

Now you might be asking, "How the hell does this guy know how to perform a surgery?" Well to answer that i'll just say that it ain't my first rodeo.

"Alright, you should be able to move now."

I told her.

We all move back a little to give her more breathing space while we hold our breath in nervousness.

*Wiggle* *Wiggle*

"I can move, but it's still a bit sore"

That same emotionless voice filled us with relief as we released our held breath.

"Man, that was nerve-wracking, how do you even know how to do a surgery? So quickly too."

Tetsutetsu asked me.

"Well, not the first time i did this, i mostly only did it to myself but sometimes, others get hurt."

I replied.

"Wait, you did surgery on yourself? Without training without nothing? You're crazy!"

Soba exclaimed worriedly.

"Ah don't worry i've had practice."

Which is probably not the smartest answer to that question.

"Wait you wha-"

"Ah, there you boys are! I've been looking all over for you lot!"

Suddenly an old lady with a giant shot injector walks toward us.

Thankfully it's not a real injector, just a walking stick that looked like one.

"Now-now i didn't get to see about this 'surgery' you just did but i'm going to judge that based on the looks of your 'patient' here i'm going to assume that you have some kind of a healing Quirk that allowed you to heal this girl right here?"

She asked me.

I'm gonna be honest with you, the aura she had around her when she asked that question, that shit was horrifying.

Now i'm a good boy alright, i prioritize being good and honest, over being bad and dishonest.

But when being good and honest doesn't bring you to success, what can you do except find another way?

"Yes Recovery Girl-san, he used his Quirk on my legs, if it wasn't for him my legs would still have been broken by that fallen building over there.

But before i could even say anything, the girl that i just healed, she already answered her for me.

And she redirected her focus as well by pointing at the original cause of her injury.

"That thing fell on you‽ Oh, i've had it with that Power Loader, i've told him to change the 0-pointer for the test but he just wouldn't listen. These kids are getting crushed to death."

As Recovery Girl started her rant i looked at the girl a bit surprised, it's nice that she appreciated my help but i didn't expect her to lie for me like that.

Well, she's not exactly lying per se, she just gave a vague answer to encompass the whole question.

As Recovery Girl finished her short rant, she turned her attention back to us while rubbing her temple as she released a sigh.

" *Sigh* I'm not in the right age for this.

Here kids have this gummy, they'll help you regain your energy, all of you are going to the infirmary, no questions, understood?"

She told us strictly, well i guess that's okay i need a little rest after all of this anyway.

And so i take a step closer so that i can take the gummy she offered.

*Black*

I opened my eyes that i didn't remember closing before as i looked around the room that i woke up in.

"Woah, did i pass out back there?"

I thought to myself while i continued to look around, i was sitting on a hospital bed but, this didn't seem like a hospital room, i must be in U.A's infirmary.

"Oh? Honshiro-san, you're awake! So quick!"

I heard a voice from my side.

I then looked at the source and found Soba, sitting awake on the bed beside me and Tetsutetsu on the bed beside him who was also awake.

"Oh? Soba! Tetsutetsu! How are you guys?"

I greeted them.

"Pfffft! Soba! Ahahahahaha!"

"Soba‽ My name is Shoda, not Soba you jerk!"

Damn.

"I'm sorry, i didn't remember why i thought your name was Soba.

I've been calling you a damn noodle."

Tetsutetsu continued to laugh his ass out while Shoda continued to glare at me pissed off.

"Excuse me."

A female voice suddenly called for my other side.

I turned to her and saw that it was the girl that was with me when i passed out.

"You're name is Kentaro Honshiro right? I wanted to give you my thanks for saving me back there, and healing my legs for me."

She asked with the flat and emotionless voice that i was so used to, i had to ask her.

"Yes, i'm Kentaro Honshiro, but can i ask you a question first?"

I told her.

Her eyes almost seemed puzzled for a moment, as if not expecting my initial response but she nodded nonetheless.

"Are you perhaps...related to someone named Niko Kodai?"

I asked her.

Her expression, uncharacteristically, turns somewhat surprised or maybe excited it's hard to read, just like Mrs. Kodai's.

"Mm! She's my mom. I'm Yui Kodai, her daughter.

How do you know my mom?"

And that ladies and gentlemen, is how i met Yui Kodai.

We continued to chat there in the infirmary, i told her about how i was her mother's student at my middle school.

Then in return, she told me a bit about herself, and how much she likes tomatoes.

We just kept talking to each other while ignoring the rest of the world around us, i even temporarily forgot about my friends who were right beside me

"I'm sorry, i must go now, my parents are waiting for me outside, i hope we'll be classmates if we manage to get in."

And just like that, she goes away with simple parting words before going out of the infirmary.

Then i realized, after turning my attention to the two of my friends right beside me, that i forgot to even introduce them to Kodai before she had to leave.

But before i could even say sorry to them, a folded-up piece of paper suddenly appeared on my lap.

Deciding to pause the apology, i took the folded-up paper on my lap and began to unfold it.

Inside it, turns out to be a writing.

" I want to talk to you more.

We can talk on the phone.

+81**-****-****

- Yui Kodai "

After reading the little message, i turned my head back toward the boys.

A single nod from both of them was the only sign of approval i needed as i got up from my bed and dapped them one by one with them patting me on the back for good luck.

After that, we decided to go home together before finally splitting up at the train.

And as i walked my way toward Arga and Aksa's home, i couldn't keep thinking about the practical test

Did i get enough points?

Did i do the right thing by saving those participants instead of getting more points?

Should i call Kodai this night or just wait for tomorrow?

"I guess i'll just think about it on my bed."
