Capítulo 2: Gavin and the Flame

Mr.Edric pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing Edmund standing in front of the window, he bowed briefly and said with joy: "Master Edmund, the child is born, a boy, both mother and child are safe, his face is very similar to your brother's when he was a child, but his hair is silver ike his mother's. The child looks very healthy."

After hearing the news, Edmund showed happy expression on his face:"Oh? really?"

The old maester smiled and nodded: "Absolutely true, master"

Edmund put his hands behind his back and paced back and forth in the room: "Very good, let the kitchen prepare some good food. In addition, does my father know?"

Mr. Edric lowered his head slightly, looking embarrassed: "I haven't had time to report to the Earl yet."

Edmund stopped, his expression serious and his eyes firm, "Then don't say it, you also know my father's stubbornness, how long can you hide it."

The bachelor hesitated: "But the Earl will always remember it, and those servants..."

Edmund smiled bitterly: "it's okay, and nodded solemnly: "Yes, I know what to do, Master Edmund." He bowed to Edmund again and left.

Gavin's birth did not bring much joy to this cold castle only his mother Alice looked at him with joy.

Alex regained consciousness again and found himself in a completely unfamiliar environment. Everything around him became huge and blurred, and his body was so petite and weak.

Then, he was horrified to find that he couldn't speak, and even simple movements were difficult to complete. This small body was completely out of his control

This made Alex confused. Then he remembered that he was playing video game at home and accidentally knocked over a water cup on key board, After a crackling sound, he lost consciousness. Could it be he traveled through time? And became a baby?

He saw some unfamiliar faces around him and there was only one woman with wet silver hair and purple eyes full of tenderness.

Is this his mother? He opened his mouth to say something but all it came out of his mouth was cry of a baby.

Year 282 of Aegon's Calendar

Alex or Gavin flowers, was standing on the beach at this moment holding and iron pot in his hand looking at blue sea. He walked carefully to the sea, squatted down, slowly put the iron into the water, and waited for pot to be filled sea water, feeling the weight of the water he lifted the pot with difficulty and walked step by step to pile of firewood prepared in advance.

Gavin put down his pot and began to build fire skillfully a weak flame appeared out of thin air between his fingers and instantly ignited the hay. The flame jumped happily and gradually became stronger.

Gavin looked at the fire he lit with his fingers. Although he was very used to it he was very excited every time he used it.

This ability he discovered when he was 4 years old. He chose not to reveal this secret to anyone even his mother.

After all, after observing the surroundings in the past few years he was sure he traveled to a world similar to middle ages. He was afraid he would be burned to death as a monster if people knew of his extraordinary powers.

Gavin who figured it out, didn't tell anyone. He practiced silently when he was alone. Now he can lit up fire at his will the duration lasted 1 minute.

The sea water in the pot kept rolling, and bubbles came out one after another. When most of the water evaporated, a layer of white crystals appeared at the bottom of the pot. However, there crystals were not pure enough, but this was the salt eaten by civilians in this world.

Gavin quickly extinguished the fire and let the iron pot cool down slightly. Then he took out coarse salt from the pot and placed it on clean cloth. Then he took some clean water gently poured it on coarse salt, and began to stir. After stirring evenly he put the mixture into pot again and heated it for secondary purification.

He put a handful of wood ash in for the third time. After the repeated attempts, crystal white salt blocks appeared at the bottom of the pot.

Wiping the sweat off his head, He carefully collected the salt put it in small cloth bag and began to crush it.

After the task was completed, Gavin cleaned up everything, He picked the iron pot he's face full of satisfaction and walked towards the market place, He was happy to the results of his hard work.

The small bag of salt can be exchanged for 5 copper stars. In this town 2 copper stars were enough to buy a bread but that kind of bread is very hard which is nothing compared to the bread he ate in his previous life.

People here are not short of salt but most civilians can only afford coarse salt, which tastes bitter. Only nobles in castle eat fine salt most of mined from salt mines. People here do not have the technology to purify sea salt. The price of fine salt is 10 times more than coarse salt.

Gavin used the knowledge of his previous life to secretly make some to sell to subsidize his family. He and his mother had lived in the castle for a while before and the amount he sold each time was not large. So far, he has not attracted the attention of others, However, if he continues to sell, it may attract the attention of those who are interested. In serious cases, it may also bring danger.
