Capítulo 20: Worry

The two carefully followed the man to his room and watched him as he looked through the assignments he was carrying before.

While he read the papers, Ace could feel Silas's impatience growing and, after the twenty-minute mark, pulled him to the corner of the room.

"I need you to do something for me."

"At this moment, I would do anything you ask."

He said, rolling his eyes. "What is it?"

"Look around the room and see if you can find anything suspicious." Ace said, looking over the man's back. "It would seem that he knows that we are here."

"If he knows, why isn't he doing anything?" he asked, frowning.

"That would give us more reasons to be suspicious of him." Ace reasoned. "He is bidding his time. After all, he doesn't know who it might be and he could be in serious trouble."

"But ... isn't him not reacting to us meaning that he is already suspicious? If he wasn't, he would have just called us out.

"Seems he knows that there is a reason he is being followed and is trying to appear as unsuspicious as possible. What? Don't look at me like that."

Ace looked at Silas with a slight smile on his face and surprise.

"I am just impressed with you." He chuckled, hitting him on the back. "I thought you were an idiot but I guess I was wrong."

"Excuse me?"

"Go now." Ace pushed him away. "See what you can find. I will look at the man."

Rolling his eyes again, Silas began to look through the files in the room while Ace looked at the papers on the man's table.

There wasn't anything too impressive at the moment and the two are not even caring about the noise or how much of themselves they are giving away right now.

There was no need to care too much anymore and it seems the man knows that they know that now.

"What is it that you want?" He asked, looking at the spot where Ace stood.

"Oh? So you did know that I was here." Ace said, amused.

"I do, your magic was not concealed. Did you not learn that from any of your classes?" He asked, annoyed playing with his pen in hand.

"Classes?" Ace thought for a second, sitting on the table's surface. "I don't think I remember any of my classes at all."

"You should be studying instead of being here." He said, standing up. "Go our now before I complain about you to the headmaster."

"Go ahead." Ace said, unbothered as Silas continued to look through the things in the room. He walked over to him and whispered, "Anything?"

"Nope. His office is clean," he said, shrugging.

"We will have to follow him then." Ace whispered to him. "Let's go out for now."

"Can't I land one hit?"

"No."

"Are you still here? Do you want me to call the headmaster that bad?" The man asked, holding the door open.

"Sorry." Ace faked fear and grabbed Silas as he ran out of the room. "Come on."

"Wha-"

Silas was about to say something when they bumped into someone and fell to the ground.

"Ouch." Silas pushed himself off the floor and looked to see Ace laying on the floor, covered with pieces of pepper all over his face.

A girl sat on the floor, looking around, confused.

Looking at his hands, he saw that they were still semi-transparent.

So, we are still invisible.

"Sorry about that." Ace said suddenly with a worried look on his face as he handed the papers to the girl.

She looked at him with concern as she could not see anyone in front of her and Ace looked oblivious to her fear.

Silas sighed, jumping in, "don't be afraid. We just came from the Mr Denvor's room and our magic is still a little bit unstable so we haven't been able to turn back."

"Oh." The girl said, a shadow coming over her face. "What were you doing in Mr Danvor's room?"

"Magic practice." Ace said, voice slightly strained as if he was struggling with something.

"Why with Mr Denvor?" She asked, looking at them suspiciously.

"What are these papers for?" Silas asked helping to pick them up from the floor and handing them to the girl.

"I have to submit them to him." She said, disgust written all over her face. "I don't know why he can't ask the boys to deliver the assignments to the room."

"He never asks the boys?" Silas asked, frowning.

"He does ..." She said, pursing her lips. "I-I s-"

"Come with me," Silas said, pulling her into an empty room as more students started to come out.

____________

"Wh-what are you trying to do?" The girl asked, eyes burning as she looked ready to kick them in the balls.

She reached to her side, hand on the slightly visible dagger placed there.

"We aren't going to do anything." Ace said, snapping his fingers and the girl's eyes widened when she saw their uniforms.

She had been addressing them at the same level as her height but only realised then that they towered over her.

"Y-you are-"

"Hello." Ace said, brightly showing the badge on his blazer. "We are with the Student Council. We have been receiving complaints about this teacher and are investigating everything right now."

"Sir Denvor?" She asked, eyes widening as the corner of her lips slightly turned up.

"Yes. From your reaction, I can guess that you know what I am talking about." Ace could finally see her face.

Before, there was just a dark shadow over her face but now, he can see everything.

She had curly brown hair with a bow at the back, deep purple eyes and a bright smile.

"Wait, may I know your name?" he asked, thinking he saw her before.

"Oh, I am sorry for my rudeness." She curtsied. "I am Jill Hatter of the Hatter household. It is a pleasure to meet you both."

"Jill Hatter." Ace replayed her name in his lips as he thought. "Where have I heard that name before?"

"I think we have more pressing matters to talk about, president," Silas said, frowning at him.

"Right." Ace said, shoving that thought to the back of his head. "May I ask, are all the claims of this man true?"

"They are." She said with no hesitation. "He is a disgusting man and, for some reason, no one can see that."

"There is a worry about his records too." Ace said. "They are all clean. But as Leon said, they were too clean."

"What do you mean 'too clean'?" Silas asked, leaning against the wall.

"You know how people make mistakes right?" He asked, looking at Silas with a gleam in his eyes. "The records the student council has includes your mistakes as well.

"Every detail is recorded. Now, the only way your records would be that clean is if you one, came here only a week ago or ..."

"If your details are not correct." Silas continued.

"Bingo." Ace said, patting the boy on the shoulders. "He may be someone that we have to look more into."

"Why didn't you think that before you admitted him?"

"We didn't have a choice on the people being admitted." Ace explained. "The administration has all those rights. Besides, there are a ton of students and faculty members, we take care of the students.

"To have to take care of the teaching faculty as well is demanding too much of us. That is why we only knew about this when the complaints came in.

"You saw how busy we looked just from this morning. And classes just started."

"Fine fine," Silas said, holding his hands up in surrender. "So what do you suggest we do? Continue observing him?"

"That may take too long and a lot of those complaints stated that it has been happening for months now. Besides, tonight I will not be free. I will need to deal with this today itself. Is that ok with you?"

"I don't care as long as that disease is taken care of." Silas aside, voice full of venom.

"Wonderful." Ace clapped his hands together. "Now, I need to think of what to do."

"I ... I think I can help." The girl said in a very small voice.

"You can?" Ace asked, grinning. "How?"

"W-well, I could ask him for a private tuition." She said, swallowing hard.

"No," Silas said immediately. "I refuse."

Ace didn't say anything as he continued to observe them.

"Why not?" the girl asked, "it won't be suspicious, right? I'll be careful."

"You don't have to subject yourself to that or even have to put yourself in that situation." He said, frowning. "Let someone else do that."

"Brilliant idea, Silas." Ace said, putting his hand on the boy as something gleamed in his eyes.

"I do no like that look on your face at all." He said, looking at the boy suspiciously.

"Just trust me here."

"I don't at all."
