Sydney ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She knew she was already in trouble for even stepping her feet outside the house.
"What were you thinking, Ari?" She yelled out loud.
"What would I have told the alpha if he had eventually caught me?"
"I don't know. Something just pulled me there. Even I was quite blank about how we got there." She retorted, sounding frustrated for some reason.
"Well, try not to take over next time. I don't know how to lie but because of this, I have to look for something to say." She hit her head, not knowing what to do.
"Something felt very familiar about that wolf. And she called me sister... How weird is that?"
"Very, because I didn't hear no such thing. You sound very delusional right now because I don't think wolves have relatives."
"Or maybe they do and we don't know that yet."
Sydney wishes she could smack her wolf. As she approached the gate, she saw the alpha headed back in with Clara and Zane behind him.
'Great! All three of them are together. Could my day get any worse?' She rolled her eyes and pretended as though she didn't see any of them. She wanted to run inside but the alpha had other plans.
"There's my favorite blue bird, looking so good in her husband's clothes." The aloha hailed, dragging the attention of two that followed behind him. Sydney was tired of hearing the word 'husband' from him and her wolf because Ari never missed an opportunity to let her know she was now married. Although, Ari couldn't connect with his wolf because he wasn't her alpha yet.
Sighing, Sydney stopped and turned to them. The alpha seemed very happy as he increased his pace towards her. He embraced her with his sweaty body which she found disgusting.
'First, wolf spittle, and now, alpha sweat. My day did get worse.'
She just stood still, not embracing him back.
"Are you not going to hug me back?"
"I don't roll with men who already had a mistress before getting married. I'm a respecter of territory, alpha." She complained, gently pushing him away.
"I have no intentions of getting between the two of you. I know, let's get divorced. I'll be the mistress instead. The only difference is, I won't let you touch me."
"Look at my little blue, getting all jealous." He pulled her in again and this time, he carried her in bridal style. Clara was furious and stormed away, leaving Zane in bewilderment. But he went after her anyway.
"Well, little blue. I am your husband and I have every right to touch you however I want. You don't tell me who to get married to or not." He laughed as he headed upstairs with her.
"So you play around with women? Is that it?" Disgust was knitted in her voice as she gaped at his well sculptured face. When his jade eyes dropped anchor on her awe-struck expression, she looked away instantly.
"Clara knew what was going on. She chose to ignore it." He replied and placed her gently on their bed.
"Don't move." He ordered with a smile and went into the bathroom. For some strange reason, a wave of sleep washed over her and she laid down. She tried hard to stay awake but it was as though her energy was zapping away the more she stayed awake.
"Are you okay, blue?" Ryder asked the moment he caught a whole new scent from her. She just laid there weak with her eyes open. She tried to explain how she felt but she couldn't.
"It's okay, sleep now." He cooed as he stroked her hair gently. Her eyes slowly began to close and she fell into a deep sleep. Ryder's orbs turned pink, allowing him to see the spiritual activities that were going on around her.
"Zealot..." He whispered, his expression turning dark. He removed the cobwebs that were hovering around her body and shut the windows. He applied salt to every inch of the room to prevent the entry of any other life threatening spirit.
"I should have known this was going to be a tough battle. I hope you're strong, blue. The battle is yet to begin." He muttered as he glanced at her still figure breathing peacefully.
Ryder found his way down, calling for Zane, Asher, and Clara. They assembled in the living room in a matter of minutes because of how urgent that alpha sounded.
"Zealot is on the move." He broke the news, gritting his teeth.
"That bastard wants her dead before it's even time. How did he even know?"
"He has a lot of connections for a small man like him. Someone must have tipped him off." Asher opinionated, crossing his legs.
"It's definitely not the Order of the Blue Moon. They don't want her dead but Zealot does." Zane contributed.
"He tried to kill her a few minutes ago by sapping her energy through the interwebs but I managed to stop that. There's no telling what he could do next." Ryder was frustrated. He didn't understand why she would be wanted by so many terrorist groups, his enemies precisely. What did they know that he didn't?
"Protect her for now. Watch her every move and expression. There's no telling what could happen next. Guard her with your life. Aside from having a special thing that I need, she is my wife and your Luna. If anything happens to her, you can consider my life shortened. Is that clear?"
"Yes, Alpha!" They responded.
The males exited, leaving Clara and the alpha.
"Just because I didn't comment on the show you pulled off the first day Sydney came here doesn't make it right."
"Alpha... I ----"
"Don't make me look like a fool in front of her. I told you countless times how we would end. You could have moved on but no, you had faith."
"What's love without faith, alpha? Just because the witch said so doesn't mean it's true."
"But it is true. Sydney would not be here if the two of us actually worked out. And I told you years ago."
Tears drilled down her cheeks as Ryder spoke. Her heart was heavy knowing that she could never be with the man she loved. Instead, he went ahead to marry someone else.
"I deserve better, Ryder. You're a terrible person. You could have at least told me you were getting married. Words can't describe how much I hate you right now." With that, she stormed off, vowing never to see him till she died.
