I stumbled in shock while Alice forged on, linking her arm with mine to help steady me, keeping her voice down when Oliver trundled on along ahead of us.

"You know by now I used to work for Sadie." She wrinkled her brow at me, nose scrunching as she admitted what looked like a failure if I was reading her expression right. "Yes, I thought so." My own face must have given her the confirmation she needed. "I know the sheriff thinks I'm a suspect because of my past with her and I'll admit there were times when I was living my jail sentence I wished she would die." Sounded like Pamela's admission, though without a hint of emotion behind Alice's words. "When I was done, I made it my mission to track Sadie-I knew her as Marigold Hopp-and expose her as the fraud she was." Again, sounded like Pamela.
