Capítulo 60: Chapter 60 - Two Choices
The next day, Zach woke up from his slumber, but he still didn't get up from the bed as Zoey was embracing him tightly however, he felt a little relieved after a night of rest and a night of reminiscing about his memories of the children, Hannah, Jenny, and his mother. It was a hard and sad truth, but he needed to accept it and move on since he still had family left to take care of.
Not before long, Zoey also woke up from her sleep, and she immediately looked around anxiously. Only after seeing Zach did she calm down before tears started falling from her eyes again after remembering the undeniable fact that their mother was dead which left them together once again as their father's situation was still unknown but he was most likely also dead.
"It's the two of us again, Zoey. I know it is hard to accept that Mother was gone but we need to move on and only by looking out at each other again can we survive and continue living." Zach said while caressing her back wanting her to calm down. Though his eyes were also about to give in, he forced himself not to as he didn't want to look weak in front of her right now.
Only after they spent thirty minutes embracing each other inside did they head out of the room from which they found Shiela already in the kitchen cooking their breakfast and there was also Sophia who walking around in the living room carrying Angel in her arms.
In fact, Sophia was only forced to stay in the house as Angel couldn't calm down when she was not around her as if she had been regarded by Angel as her mother. And since there were now many vacant rooms, she stayed in one of them and spent the night in the house.
Seeing them, Zoey immediately headed straight to the kitchen to help Shiela while Zach walked toward Sophia wanting to see his child who always brings him joy and pain at the same time as he could see Jenny from her appearance. Taking her from Sophia's hand, he then proceeds to take care of her with Sophia telling him how to do it.
After that, they rested and then had their breakfast before Zach headed outside thinking that it was now time to talk about the result of their meeting last night to every survivor living on the base since he could no longer wait to halt it anymore knowing that he still had someone waiting for him back on Undead Enclave Shelter.
Zach then just immediately called Ethan and the rest of the Rangers to call on everyone in front of his house. This matter was of great importance and he needed everyone to be present when he announced it as it was not just for himself but for the people living inside the base.
After some time, everyone finally gathered seeing some of them were even on the roofs of the houses just to make sure that they would see and hear properly what is this all about. On the other hand, Ethan, Mike, Carl, Isabelle, Viktor, Patricia, and Kevin could now also be found standing on Zach's sides as they looked back at the survivors.
"I am here today to tell you that it has been a year already since the first calamity struck us. I still remember how this place looked like before survivors started coming in and that I would never thought to have become a leader of over a thousand people." Zach said as he remembered what day it was today.
"That said, the calamities were already over, and a new era was about to begin. It is now the era of evolution, an era from which we can become someone we've never thought of becoming before. All of you here have survived the tutorial and you must already know the benefits it gave us. It was a great opportunity for everyone and we won't hinder all of you from doing what you wanted." Zach followed.
"Last night, I ordered Ethan and the rest of the Rangers to ask if any one of you has completed the mission and owned a shelter back in Pluto Sanctuary yet only seven people have come to the gathering. Well, it's all good but I doubt that such a number were the only ones who completed the mission. For all you of who own a shelter but don't want to disclose it, I don't really care since you are free to do anything you want, however, I will ask you to leave the base and I will give you time until tonight." Zach said.
"This is no longer an order but a threat. We have been working until now, yet you decided to hide it for your own ambition. That's quite a daring thing to do but it's your choice. I will even give you time to convince people here to join your group, but I want you to immediately leave the place by tonight." Zach continued.
"As you all know, the reward for completing this mission is an item that connects the shelter we owned from Pluto Sanctuary to here on Earth. With the help of that item, it allowed us to travel between the two places which means it gave us the opportunity to continue evolving." Zach said.
"However, the world inside the sanctuary was harsh and filled with danger hence it was only for those who had the courage to continue evolving and take the risk. With my skill, I can see some of you here didn't reach level 10 even after almost four months inside which means that you either stayed in hiding and waited for the time to pass or you just didn't dare to fight back at all." Zach continued.
"What I am trying to say is that I and the people here with me will activate the portal to the sanctuary, and everyone will be given free access to it. Also, I would like to say that I will no longer provide any of you with supply assistance and that you need to start working on them from now on. I'm sorry but I can't continue to provide you since everyone pretty much was capable now with the help of the system." Zach said.
"So, I will give you a choice at this moment. You can either stay working for me under the pretext that you would do anything that I ordered, or you can break away and start living on your own. I will respect everyone's decision since you are already free to do anything and no longer need my help to live by yourself." Zach finally said.
Hearing such words from Zach, everyone started talking to each other which made the base noisy. Some already have a decision while some are still thinking about it. It would be a decision that they need to think carefully about as this is the future they are dealing with.
"What kind of orders will give us if we stay and continue to work for you?" One of the survivors bravely asked while looking at Zach. He was among those who hadn't reached level 10 and he kind of started worrying about his future after hearing that Zach would no longer provide them resources just like what he was doing before.
"It depends because, after this, I will be creating a place solely for those who want to stay and work for me. I'll create two groups after that. The Ranger Group will continue as it is and they will be the main combatants under me while the other will be called the Lifestyle Group whose main role is to provide assistance to the Rangers with most numbers probably start working on rebuilding the society." Zach answered.
"If you stay and decide to join the Lifestyle Group that I will establish then I will promise to give you reasonable compensation through Evolution Coins. Just like I said before, your main role was to focus on rebuilding society and giving assistance to the Rangers Group. Also, if you decide to level up, the Ranger Group will carry and help you in the sanctuary. This arrangement, however, still needs to be discussed carefully." Zach said.
"You do not need to decide immediately as I want you to think carefully about it. That would be all for today. Remember, you only have until tomorrow to decide." Zach lastly said before he turned around and entered his house as he had already told everybody what he wanted to say and just left the decision to them since they were the ones holding their lives.
Following that, the survivors then started bustling with noise as they started discussing what Zach just said because aside from any of them who didn't know what really a shelter was, they were more concerned about Zach saying that he would no longer give them supply assistance.
On the other hand, Ethan and the rest are also headed somewhere since they have been told not to convince any survivors to stay as Zach wanted to see who is loyal to him and to the base as a whole. They also thought that it was impossible that they were the only ones who had owned a shelter since there were over a thousand of them before. Though their group has reduced drastically after the tutorial, it would only mean that most of them here have evolved and that the possibility of some of them having a shelter was high.
Noon came, and Zach could be found outside of the base seeing him surrounded by trees and tall grasses however, he wasn't alone at the moment because he was riding on Adam's back with Eve following beside them. He didn't know where they went last night but he felt glad seeing them come back.
Right now, Zach wants to see the vicinity of the base because he feels like there's something more to Earth than meets the eyes since there would be no reason as to why the place has become a forest since they had just gone on Earth for a few months.
Riding on Adam, Zach felt like they were faster than a car. However, even though they had already quite traveled a distance, he could only see trees around and nothing more until they arrived at something like a lake in the middle of the forest.
Zach saw a deer drinking water on it however, it wasn't an ordinary deer upon seeing that it was bigger than normal with its antlers which looked like sharp blades. It was something that completely surprised him as he really never thought that there were still animals like that around since he felt like they should have been already dead from the calamities before unless they really had survived.

Using Appraisal on the beast, Zach then saw that it might also be a bronze-class beast just like Adam and Eve. With this, he can't believe that there were beasts that also occupied Earth which was quite concerning since it would mean that there is also danger here not just in Pluto Sanctuary.

Meanwhile, Adam and Eve bared their fangs at the Mutated Deer as if it were their natural enemy.
Zach, on the other hand, was quite interested in seeing Adam and Eve's reaction, so he got down and took a clear look at the Mutated Deer since upon using the system, he saw that it was brimming with the color red signing that it was dangerous.
Meanwhile, the Mutated Deer immediately got alerted by Zach's arrival as it stopped drinking and looked at them. A deer should have been not that fierce but upon seeing them, it immediately started charging at them while flaunting its blade-like antlers towards their direction.
"The fuck." Zach cursed before immediately taking out his Battle Sword and Savage Shield. Seeing it charging at him, he immediately put his shield to block it and it created a sound as if two metals had collided, however, he got caught off guard by its strength as it flew him away and crashed into a nearby tree.
"I-It's that strong?" Zach couldn't believe what just happened since he was very confident with his strength and yet he was still being flown away. Though he didn't get hurt from the impact, just the thought that it was stronger than Smasher in terms of strength was already a surprise for him.
Seeing Zach still fine, the Mutated Deer started charging again but it immediately stopped after seeing Adam and Eve blocking its way. As if it was infuriated by their actions, it angrily charged at Adam however, it couldn't follow its movements at all as Adam was just too fast and it was the same with Eve.
Looking at this, Zach felt amazed seeing Adam and Eve playing with the Mutated Deer, however, he could also tell that they couldn't get an opportunity to attack as the former was very cautious and the fact that its antler was just too dangerous even for him.
Knowing this fact, Zach then just used 'Stealth' and immediately went straight to the Mutated Deer. He really couldn't get enough of using this skill as it was just too convenient. In fact, he felt like it was really made for him as he had a lot of Spirit in the beginning, unlike any normal people.
Getting near and having seen the opportunity, Zach dashed forward while holding the Battle Sword tightly before swiftly swinging it on the Mutated Deer's neck and saw how its blood gushed out from there.
On the other hand, the Mutated Deer didn't know what happened and could only start shrieking in pain while charging mindlessly in the area before falling down and breathing heavily until its body finally stopped moving.
"That's quite easy." Zach said after looking at the dead body of the Mutated Deer and he was no longer surprised upon seeing shining dropped items from it. With that, he then takes them all and also the dead body in his inventory thinking of experimenting it back to the base.
Following that, Zach just looked at the surroundings first wanting to see if there was something special to the place but seeing that it was just an ordinary lake, he then just rode on Adam again and told him and Eve to get back to the base.
