Quest: Exterminator
Aim: kill buggers in the city's foundations
Rewards: one petal per five buggers

Buggers were a type of rodent descendant that resided in the mazes under cities. They had sharp teeth, a small body that was covered in scales and fur, a tail that resembled a stingray's and an affinity to water. They were not very hard to kill but there were thousands under the city. That would eventually lead to a lot of petals if they managed to kill most of them.
Petas were literally petals of crystal flowers. They had different colorations depending on the kingdom but they could be used everywhere as their value was the same. When they obtained a thousand petals one would go to the bank and exchange them for a small crystal flower and so on. As they were in the capital, some petals were orange and some green, representing the nature and light elements that were most prominent in the capital. They were truly beautiful to look at.
They left The Obelisk and went to the outside of the city, on the opposite direction of the Behemoth was another path that led to a small entrance to the underground maze that lied underneath every city. They were given a dimensional rune to store the buggers bodies that would serve for their payment.
This time, they agreed with Ace's idea of going all out as they really needed the money to buy the grimoire and the spatial rune. They already had a spatial rune but of a different effect, Nya had gifted them a portal rune to the spiritual realm so they could hunt their own summons in the future. The only problem was they had no idea how to make it work, of course Nya loved to be mysterious.
For now they entered the maze and Ace casted a small fireball surrounding them while Trevor sucked the moisture out of the air making a ball of water that floated opposite of Ace's, making two small moons orbit them. They could not be found using water magic so Trevor quickly froze the water moon as Ty used earth magic to examine their surroundings by creating waves that traveled through the earth in a sonar-like way.
Theo blended their figure out of sight by using light and shadow magic making it impossible for anyone to see them. Caleb was the one controlling the body but they all helped.
As soon as they felt a bugger's presence they either shot a magical arrow, trapped it in an earth cage, pierced it with an ice spike, burned it with a small fire or used the shadow to consume it from the inside. This made for fast progress as they hunted at the same time using more than their eyes to hunt.
After a few hours their storage rune was full and they had to return to Echo in order to both claim their rewards and empty their rune. The dwarf behind the desk was surprised to see so many buggers in just a couple of hours. He gave them a total of fifty petals which meant they had hunted 250 buggers. That was the limit of the storage rune.
The dwarf gave them a bigger storage rune as they asked for one to keep hunting. At the end of the day they had killed a thousand buggers which was the limit of the new storage rune. This gave them a total of 200 petals which was insane for their second quest. This brought up their total petals available to 353, which would go down as the daily expenses were not met yet.
They were slowly making their way to their goal. However, they had to buy some basic equipment so they went to the merchant district to find some more common weapons as well as a backpack and clothes.
They were at the commoners district as they were not even close to being nobles. They entered a tailor shop that had some cloaks on their windows. This was mainly because Ty wanted a badd*ss look and wanted a black cloak that would move with the wind as well as leather boots, black pants and shirt.
After buying these items they had little over a hundred petals. The city was not cheap at all, especially if you wanted to look like a superhero.
They started focusing on the infestation type quests as they provided the best rewards and they were the best way to make money.

The most difficult the minor Descendants were to deal with, the higher the reward, there were some that even paid one petal per kill. These types of quests were perfect for Caleb and the rest as they could even summon their champions to hunt with them as long as no one was around.
They had to first hide their magical aura and the one of the champion as they didn't want to risk it with the Pegasus Academy that was in the vicinity. They hadn't seen a single student come out of the Academy but that was going to change soon.
They did so many quests that they now held the E+ rank and were moving to the D rank soon. They were very excited as the higher the rank, the higher the monsters and the higher the rewards. But before this, they had managed to get their hands on two flowers and were headed to the border between noble and commoners merchant district for their own first spatial rune.
They arrived at a shop called "Shadoworks" that was pitch black on the outside. This repelled lots of customers as it was very different from the others. The owners of the shop were shadow users themselves and there was a stigma over the shadow users, some even calling them devils or demons as their power could hurt others very easily.
This was unknown to Caleb and the rest as they hadn't been in the city for long and even though they never used their magic in the city unlike lots of other people. One could see people running very fast or some watered their gardens with conjured up water. The night guards carried no torches and used either fire or light magic.
Magic was the thing that surrounded every being in this world and their lives were filled with it. People didn't need technology as magic was way better, that is why this world was advanced in aspects Earth was but seemed to be stuck in the medieval era.
