Harry walked into Hermione's office at the Ministry.
"Do you have a minute?"
"Yes, if it is a short one. I am about to have a meeting with the Greek Minister about a possible Magical Creatures Task Force. What is it?"
"Have you heard from Albus recently? Or Rose?"
"We had dinner with Rose on Sunday. Neither Scorpius nor Albus were there though. Why?"
"Rose didn't mention Albus? Ginny says he went to see them last Sunday. We haven't heard from him since. We are beginning to worry a bit. We try to give him space, but it is unlike him to not make contact for a whole week."
"No, she didn't mention him, only that Scorpius decided to stay home. Albus stays with them often though, so she may just not think it worth mentioning."
Harry couldn't help but worry. He didn't know why, but something about Albus' silence felt wrong. Ginny was worried too, since Albus had indicated he would come home after visiting Rose and Scorpius that day. But what could have happened? He was probably overreacting. Albus was a grown man, he could take care of himself. He had proven that. But it wasn't like him to not let them know where he was for a whole week.
Hermione probably saw how worried he was. She placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"If you are so worried, why don't you go and talk to Rose and Scorpius. If you want, wait about an hour or two, and I can come with you. The meeting with the Greek Minister shouldn't take long."
"Okay, we'll do that then. Let me know when you are ready. I'll be in my office, doing paperwork."
"Paperwork? You really are worried, if you need to distract yourself with paperwork."

Three hours later, Harry and Hermione were outside the Malfoys' house. The door was not locked, which was unusual.
"Rose?" Hermione shouted when they were inside. "Rose, are you here? Scorpius?"
No reply. Harry took the lead and went into the living room. It looked a little dirty, which was also unusual. Just as Harry bent down to check out the dirt, Hermione called on him from the kitchen.
"Here is a note from Rose," she said. "Hi Mum, just wanted to let you know, Scorpius and I are going away for a while. I don't know exactly how long we will be away, but I didn't want you to worry."
"That is strange." Hermione said. "The handwriting looks like Rose, but this is not the way she would have said it. And why is the note here in the kitchen, if she meant to send it to me? And she doesn't say where they are going, or why."
"And come look in the living room" Harry said. "Rose wouldn't leave it dirty like that."
He bent down and inspected the dirt. It was black and powdery. "Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder?" he said incredulously. "Why is that here?"
From the other side of the room, he heard Hermione's gasp. She held out a wand. Rose's wand. There was no mistaking that. Harry remembered vividly the last time they had found her wand on the ground. Could the same thing have happened again? Was it possible?
"What is going on here? Have Rose and Scorpius been kidnapped? When? And why?" Harry asked. "And where is Albus? Has something happened to him too?"
"I can only think of one thing that ties those three together. But that is impossible." Hermione said, trying to sound calm. Harry saw the same panic in her eyes that he felt rising in himself. He hoped they were wrong.
"Are we absolutely certain that the Death Eaters are still in Azkaban? All of them?"
"Yes. I was there only a week or so ago. And we found the guy who let them out last time, and he was fired."
"If they can get to one guard, they can get to another. I can't think of any other explanation. Either that, or there are more of them. No matter what the answer is, it is clear that Rose and Scorpius are in grave danger, and possibly Albus too. We need to start a full search for them."
"I agree. And I will send someone to Azkaban to visually confirm that all the Death Eaters are still accounted for. No, I will do that myself." Whilst saying this, Hermione looked under the couch. There was a book, and a small piece of parchment hidden underneath it. When she retrieved the piece of parchment; she gasped again. It was hard to read the note, it had been written hastily, and possibly in darkness, but a few letters were understandable, and the rest could be deduced from there.
"Death Eaters. Captured. Crabbe and Goyle." The names were particularly clear, as if Rose had wanted to be extra sure that those were legible.
"Oh no." Harry said as he read the note. "Not again."
