Capítulo 8: Chapter 8 - The Myth Of White

[June 6th, 23:22:12, 2248]

The harsh, snowy winds blew through the entirety of Floor 1. However, near the entrance of the dungeon, something was happening.

Multitudes of players had gathered up to push back against the horde of rabbits pushing in their direction.

The ground covered in snow now held beedy-eyed rabbits that sought to consume all. The mages fired off spell after spell with happiness in their eyes.

"Hello, everyone! It's me Overmaxxer again!" A blonde-haired boy spoke to nothing but the air beside him. "Currently, we are in a dungeon close to Millen that seems to give boosted EXP compared to other dungeons."

The young man covered his eyes as a massive wave of flames blasted towards the rabbits that had them nearly encircled, with only the entrance of the dungeon being able to allow escape.

"For some reason, this dungeon is going through this event where these rabbits almost infinitely push forward. Normally, this wouldn't be worth staying in, but because of the boosted rates, this might be the best way to level up if you have someone carrying you." The streamer hugged himself as the cold blasted into him while he was speaking.

In front of him was a line of twelve mages, with another twenty people playing melee or support classes. More people would enter the dungeon at a rapid pace due to the live stream.

"I don't know how long this event will last, but if I were you, I would get in here now and join a party with a high-level mage in it." The boy said as another mage raised his hand to the sky, only for a wave of arrows to pelt the grounds where the rabbits were located.

"Alright, any mage out of mana, rush in and die!" A mage in the front of the pack shouted. "You'll lose out on more EXP if you wait for your mana to regenerate! This applies to all mages between levels 20 and 60!"

The mages in the front, who were out of mana, immediately took off their best gear and ran forward. Due to not being player-killed, their loot wouldn't drop on death.

However, all their gear has durability, and in order to save their gear, they ran almost completely naked out in the snow towards the rabbits.

The boy watched as the ten mages out of mana rushed forward and got absolutely torn to shreds by a massive amount of small, chattering teeth.

Their bodies were covered in wriggling white as blood splurged and gushed from their bodies.

More and more people were entering the dungeon as the mages, not out of mana, kept throwing spell after spell.

"I don't understand," Overmaxxer nearly whispered to himself as the main fire mage threw ability after ability. "How are they respawning this quickly? It's like, no matter how many we kill, they just instantly pop up."

"I know the reason!" The fire mage in the front shouted as he pushed his hand out toward the rabbits.

A flash of orange light appeared as a large wave of fire spread out from his hands toward the small chittering balls of white.

"The rabbits have the ability to self-replicate upon eating! By giving them bodies to eat, we can keep this EXP event going infinitely, as it seems one of them upgrades its replication ability the more it eats." The flame mage in his heavy coat had a massive smirk on his face as he spoke.

The mage's eyes widened as, through the darkness of snow and wind, he saw a massive rabbit. Being around eight feet tall, the rabbit had more rabbits exiting its fur.

"This is an experience jackpot, boys! The more sacrifices, the better!" The flame mage said as he turned his head to the newer members of the group. "If you are a mage and run out of mana, run into the rabbits and die! You'll lose less EXP than you'll gain, and you should be able to respawn nearby very easily!"

Overmaxxer looked perplexed as he knew about the logout death timer.

"What about the death timer?" Overmaxxer shouted.

"Don't worry about it!" The smile on the fire mage's face grew bigger as he spoke. "We have a high-level priest here who can get rid of logout timers and speed up revival time! It should only take around five minutes to be revived in a nearby city."

"So that's why you have swordsmen in the front—not to guard the mages, but to guard the priests." The boy shouted aloud as he realized what the mage was truly doing.

That mage was maxing! Not min-maxing but truly maximizing everything. It was truly remarkable how he came up with this idea.

At the rate they were going, if they could keep the dungeon up for a minimum of 24 hours, they would be able to get up to level 80 from level 20, if lucky.

That was an absolutely monstrous level of growth, considering the amount of experience it took to reach that level.

And that was if they started from level 20. The ones starting higher, like the fire mage that was getting the most kills due to drinking potions, would get even crazier amounts of EXP.

'I need to post this online!' Overmaxxer thought of how many more viewers he would get if people knew about it, so he immediately went to ask his chat to post his link and situation online.

(First POV:???)

[June 7th, 02:02:25, 2248]

"Hahhh." I rubbed my eyes as I sighed. "I know Gluttony doesn't have to deal with this bullshit."

As I made my way through the dim-dark hallway, I saw other vampires look at me and either give a nod of respect or kneel.

This castle was way too old to be standing and either needed to be redone or destroyed. Good thing the werewolves outside loved to make a mess of things.

'Can't believe I was woken up for the seventh time in a row. I need a break.' I thought as I made my way to the balcony of the castle.

As I walked, I noticed footsteps mirroring mine. They were doing a great job, but too badly, I memorized the footsteps of everyone who defended this castle.

I immediately stopped walking, which was followed by silence as the person behind me had also stopped walking.

There happened to be a mirror to my left where I stopped, and as I looked into it, all I saw was the hallway, as my reflection wasn't shown.

'Should I shave my facial hair?'

A sigh nearly escaped my lips as I knew I was based on my real-life appearance, but unlike real life, one of my eyes was blood red, with the other being blue.

"What do you want, Marius?" I said aloud to no one in particular.

For a minute, nothing happened, and I was left messing around with my appearance. I would need Gluttony to help me get an artist to draw me, as even trying to take pictures of me in-game would have me not show up.

Turning my head to the left, down the hallway, I saw Marius appear from the shadowed corner.

"Lord Heavenly," Marius said as he bowed to me.

"Are you still wearing that Butler suit? You know you don't need to wear that anymore." I began moving to my original destination as I spoke. "The white gloves do look cool, though."

Marius was a tall, pale-skinned man with black hair and a neatly trimmed black beard. His eye color was black, showing how he was an impure vampire, while he always wore a butler suit.

"The elders have designated me as your butler. There is..." Marius stopped speaking as I gave him a look that he knew meant 'shut your mouth.'

"The elders are a bunch of scared bats! They have given you to me as a servant; you no longer worry about their opinions, only mine!" My rant was cut short by myself opening the door to the balcony.

The balcony could hold a maximum of 20 people. It was big due to the size of the castle. Outside, gray clouds hung in the sky as if trying to block any semblance of the moon from shining through.

The trees around the castle had been cut, the closest tree being around 25 meters away, and for good reason too.

Walking to the edge of the balcony, I stood on the edge of the railing. I could see them...

"To think those dogs dare try! Look at them in the woods, hiding like a pack of cockroaches under rocks!" As I spoke, I saw multiple eyes in the woods appear and disappear. The glow they reflect in the dark is their main giveaway.

Jumping from the balcony, I grabbed onto the edge of the castle wall, only to flip myself upward onto the roof of the castle.

'Tch. It's not high enough.' I thought as I climbed higher up.

I stood, overlooking everything. Everything else is insignificant compared to me. The wall of vampires below is ready to defend our first line of defense.

There were at least three thousand vampires stationed here, but as the werewolves attacked, we would gain more reinforcements.

"Be careful, Lord Heavenly! We have no idea if the enemy has prepared anything."

Ignoring the rambling servant, I looked through the forest with my enhanced vision.

"Start recording," I said as I received a notification that the recording had started.

I saw many different werewolves, their eye colors ranging from yellow to red to brown. I knew they had specific eye colors for the different shades of fur they had.

Brown werewolves were the basic foot soldiers, while black werewolves were the true commanders.

'Red. Brown. Orange. Red. Yellow. Yellow. Black. Red. Brown. Brown. Orange. Brown.' I mentally tallied the number and color of each pair of eyes I saw.

'Black. Brown. Red. Blue, wait what?' I paused my counting to look back where I saw the blue-eyed one.

"Werewolves don't have blue eye-!" I couldn't finish my sentence as my eyes widened and time seemed to slow down.

A steel rod was in front of me. How?

*CRACK-CHRREESH*

The steel rod tore through my chest as I tried to jump away to protect my face. It didn't go straight through, though it got stuck in my chest, and its momentum poured into me.

"Lord Heavenly!"

"Ugh..." I groaned as I found myself inside the castle, the metal rod piercing my chest and embedding me into the wall. "Fuck..."

[+12]

The wound in my chest began healing. With a few grunts and massive amounts of pain, I pushed myself through the other end of the steel rod.

[+12]

"Hah. Hah. Stop recording..." I said as I landed on my hands and knees after forcing a metal rod through my chest.

[+12]

The wound, now unbothered by the foreign object, began healing much better.

[+22]

"Replay recording." As those words came out of my mouth, a transparent blood-red screen appeared in front of my face, and I mentally commanded it.

Speeding up the recording, I pulled back to just the moment when I saw the blue eyes in the woods.

Pressing play, I watched as moments later the metal rod tore through my chest and quite violently ripped me through the building.

It had only been a few seconds, yet somehow the blue-eyed creature moved far enough away to allow the trajectory to pierce me and stab me into the castle wall.

As far as I know, that bastard could not have been the one to throw it, but as this has never happened previously, I can only assume.

'I must put that mutt down! To be embarrassed in front of the maidens is one thing, but to be embarrassed in front of a whole army and the maidens is too much to bear!' I gritted my teeth in rage and anticipation, as I knew what I was going to do to that blue-eyed bastard when I got my hands on him!

"Disgusting dogs that can't even correctly use magic!" I spat in disgust.
