Capítulo 4: Chapter : 4 Metting unexpected Potato

The classroom buzzed with the usual cacophony of children chattering and playing during their break time. Kaito leaned over to Vali, who was seated in front of him, and gently held another kid by the face.

"Vali, you do know that school is ending early today, right?" Kaito asked.

Vali nodded solemnly. "Yes, I'm aware."

Kaito's eyes lit up with excitement. "How about we head to the park near the hill at 1:00? It'll be great fun!"

"Okay," Vali agreed, looking forward to the plan.

Frustration soon brewed when the kid held by Kaito objected, trying to reclaim his seat. "Go to your own seat, Kaito?" The boy exclaimed, struggling to free himself from Kaito's grip.

"This is my desk," Kaito retorted pointing the desk he is sitting.

"You just swapped our desks," the bewildered boy pointed out, trying to make sense of the situation.

After numerous arguments and even involving the teacher, Kaito finally secured the seat behind Vali.

School ended early that day, and when Vali got home, he asked his mom for permission to go to the park to meet his friends. Sarah readily agreed, considering the park was close by and generally safe. However, she gave Vali a cell phone to carry with him while he was outside.

At 12:50 pm, Vali was dressed in green shorts, a black and white polka-dotted t-shirt, matching white sneakers with green laces, and a white cap.

He headed to the park with Kaito and his two buddies, Matsuda and Motohama. The park was empty when they arrived, allowing them to have it all to themselves. Kaito brought a football, and they divided into teams: Vali and Motohama versus Kaito and Matsuda.

The game continued for an hour, with Vali's team scoring more goals and ultimately winning. They were all tired and covered in sweat. "We should go to the top of the hill; it's cooler there," Kaito suggested as they sought relief from the heat.

As the four of them ascended the stairs leading to the top of the small hill, the lush trees surrounding the path, they noticed someone descending. It was a lady with striking silver hair, dressed in a maid outfit, accompanied by two girls who appeared to be around their age. One had long, fiery crimson hair, while the other sported a short, black bob cut.

As they passed them, Vali couldn't help but notice that he was the sole member of their group still making the climb. Kaito, Matsuda, and Motohama, on the other hand, halted abruptly, their gazes locked on something below.

"What are they looking at?" Vali wondered. Concerned, he called out to his friends, who eventually roused themselves and resumed their upward trek.

Upon reaching the hill's pinnacle, they were greeted by a serene panorama, where leaves gracefully danced their way down from the trees. In the distance, a few benches and a rustic wooden shed added to the picturesque scene.

Taking the seats on the benches, they savored the cool breeze, but Vali couldn't shake an odd sense of foreboding. His gaze drifted toward the shed, detecting a vague anomaly in the tranquil tableau.

"It's time to head home, or my mom will be furious with me," Kaito reminded the group, prompting everyone to recognize the need to depart.

As they retraced their steps down the stairs, Vali suddenly realized he'd left his cell phone on the bench.

"What's the matter?" Kaito inquired.

"I think I left my cell phone on the bench. You wait here; I'll be right back," Vali replied before dashing back upstairs. He quickly located his phone but was interrupted by a loud, echoing bang originating from the shed.

"What was that sound?" Vali questioned. Though initially tempted to ignore it and rejoin his friends, curiosity got the best of him. "Maybe just a quick peek," he thought, as he cautiously approached the shed.

Peering inside, he found a dim, dusty interior with a broken roof, sunlight filtering through and illuminating various old wooden boxes. At first, there was nothing unusual to be seen. Vali turned to leave, but another noise echoed startling him.

His eyes darted in every direction, finding nothing but the eerie silence. Gathering his courage, he ventured deeper inside the dimly lit space. But when he spun around to leave, his mouth formed the word, "Potato."

Before him stood a figure resembling a round, stubby man, with comically minuscule legs. As the figure gradually came into focus, Vali couldn't help but quip, "A rotten potato." It was an individual with an oval-shaped body, dark and blistered skin oozing some unidentifiable liquid, accompanied by its incongruously tiny legs and a grotesquely round head. Vali couldn't help but shudder at the sight, his skin crawling at the bizarre.

"Well, well, what do we have here? A young flesh," the unknown being in front of Vali leered, drooling, and extending its elongated, unnatural tongue.

Vali stood, paralyzed with shock, his cell phone slipping from his trembling hand. "Is this some sort of potato ghost?" he pondered, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Suddenly, the grotesque potato, which had been a bit farther away, materialized right in front of Vali, reaching out to grab him. Vali somehow sensed the impending danger and swiftly bolted to the left.

"This human dodged me?" the potato muttered in disbelief. "Why are you running? Do you think you can escape me?"he said.

In his thoughts, the potato schemed, "I've had enough of those devils treating me like a training tool for their little ones. I should devour this kid and make my escape before that woman returns. I narrowly survived once by feigning death, but I might not be so lucky again."

With renewed determination, the repulsive potato sprang forward, lunging toward Vali. "Ahhhh!" Vali screamed, instinctively pulling his fist for a punch.
