Capítulo 35: Chapter 33

"Pervert-senpai," Koneko said with a nod. The little loli was sitting on the sofa in the occult club.

"Motohama, glad you're here," Kiba is sitting next to Koneko and looks pleased with my arrival.

"Hi to you all too," I said as I readjusted my glasses and sat down on a bench.

Behind the club president's desk, Akeno remains standing and watches me carefully.

"Sato-kun," Rias said with both elbows resting on the table, both hands together that serve as a chin rest, and a serious tone.

"Yea?" I ask tensely, but I smile internally as it seems my plan has paid off.

"What do you know about rating games?" Rias didn't seem to be in her usual good mood and spoke politically.

"Not much," I admitted before adding, "Just a little bit I've read from the books and I know the basics."

"Great," Rias said, pondering the possibilities.

"Is there a problem, Rias-senpai?" I said in a worried tone.

"I want you to be our mind," Rias said without adding or explaining further.

"Huh?"

"Buchou wants you to use your perverted yet insightful mind to create a super plan for us," Koneko said in her kuudere mode.

Okay, I didn't expect things to skip steps like this.

"Er-- I'm sorry but I don't remember saying I'm good at strategy and well -- I only know the basics of rating games," I said with a pause. "Wouldn't it be better if you tried to get the opinion of someone who is experienced in this?"

Before she could respond, I kept saying, "Why not Sona? She seems smarter than me and she must have a lot more rating game knowledge."

With a pained look in her eyes as she thinks about her new situation, Rias says a little vulnerable, "Please, you're the only person I can think of who can help me."

"Rias-sama is forbidden to ask for help from other heirs and from her own family," said Akeno with a slight frown.

Ohhh, looks like I was getting what was going on here.

Unlike canon where Rias had the red dragon emperor in her peerage... Her political weight is now much less.

She has her brother of course and her gremory clan heiress status which is very high.

But Sirzechs couldn't show favoritism with his Lucifer status.

And the redhead's disobedience and near-death affair had consequences for the status of her marriage. Even though she was practically a princess, it wasn't enough to stop her now more unnerving situation.

Probably now her allies and families had their hands tied on how to help her.

"Umm," I pondered briefly and the redhead looks tense with my indecision. "I'll see what I can do, but don't expect too much... I'm just an ordinary human after all."

Rias seems much more relaxed upon hearing my answer and she smiles at me, "I discovered your identity Motohama-kun. No human like you could be considered ordinary."

Of course I wasn't scared as I know what she was saying.

"Akeno," said Rias in a commanding voice.

"Yea?" Akeno asked.

"Open the vault, the combination you already know," said the redhead.

Akeno grabbed the edge of a painting on the wall, which concealed a vault. After turning the right combinations, the metal vault opened and from there Akeno took a book.

After the book was tossed onto the table, Rias smiles at me.

I read the title of the book which was...

Naruto.

"You have the necessary qualifications," Rias said with a serene smile. "Should I call you Moto-sensei?"

It was never my purpose to hide my identity as a novel author. This was my alibi to explain where so much money from palladium mining came from.

I just took advantage of this status to gain even more favoritism from the redhead.

"With your super brilliant mind that you showed us that night and your mind so creative... It's like the anime goshs are sending us a signal," said the redhead passionately. "You need to be our strategist."

Anime goshs?

"I was about to give up on my otaku life. I had realized that maybe it was getting in my way," the redhead says with great disgust. "It was when I was about to burn my collection that a book among them caught my eye."

It seems I somehow managed to stop Rias from ceasing to be a devout otaku.

Unlike canon where she had given up and decided to focus on other things... I managed to revive the monster.

"I don't like anime that much, but Buchou insisted that everyone read it," said Kiba a little awkwardly. "But now I must ask..."

Huh? I look at the blonde curiously.

"Will Sasuke get his revenge? Please tell me he will," Kiba asks darkly. "He can't let his clan's death be in vain like that, can he?"

"His brother is evil," Koneko said as she associated Itachi with a certain someone in her life.

"I bet it's all Sasuke's father's fault and really," Akeno has a disgusted look on her face as she pauses briefly. "What kind of godfather is Jiraya? He abandoned his godson in the village that mistreated him. He was supposed to act like a father to naruto, but he abandoned him at the moment he needed it most."

It seems that Akeno had problems with father figures.

One after another, everyone wanted to ask me about the fate of the story and I just said...

"Sorry guys. I can't tell you because it would be a spoiler," I said with a tight smile.

It seems like they were all very intent on knowing more about naruto.

The four of them became naruto fans. Although Rias is the only otaku, the others liked it as they saw hidden aspects of themselves in the books.

"See?" Rias had an animated look on her face and says, "Not only is your story brilliant, fun and action packed ---- But it also stirs the hearts of the audience. I honestly don't know how it hasn't become a best seller yet. It was luck that the janitor from the school bought another shipment as usual."

It wasn't luck. I was the one who put it mixed in her collection.

"Due to my disappearance just this week sales have started," I said sadly. "But sales are more than tripling every day. By the end of the month I'm sure naruto will be the best seller." I smile back excitedly.

"Mm," She nods in agreement.

"Alright, let me understand your situation a little," I pondered briefly. "How long until the rating game? What's really at stake here?"

"We have two months," Rias said as she placed her hands on her temples as if she had a headache. "The problem is --- Our enemy is a high-class devil. He's much older than I am and has his full nobility. Not to mention he's gone through several rating games and won most of them. My despicable fiancé who makes a point of always humiliating me when we see each other."

Unlike Issei in canon, Rias didn't make drama or mystery about her situation. She opened the game and said it all.

"And what are you doing about it?" I said with a raised eyebrow.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Rias asked not understanding my question.

"Are you at least training? Studying your enemies' weaknesses? If he's played so many rating games this is an opportunity, isn't it?" I asked pointedly.

"Rating games are recorded and you can use it to study them," I said again.

"Unfortunately not," Rias shook her head from side to side, "Most of the matches Riser won using his own raw power and immortality. His peerage barely participated in the match."

"Hmm... Although unfortunate, we can look at this on the bright side, can't we? It means his peerage is as inexperienced as you are. You can prepare better and take advantage of their inexperience and lack of preparation," I explained.

Rias could see truths in my speech.

Riser peerage was wasted. They were more like dolls and trophies to him.

His peerage was as inexperienced as Rias's.

"We're doing training," Rias said with a confident smile. "Kiba."

The blonde got up from the couch and picked up a tree leaf on the table, much to my curiosity.

The blonde puts the leaf on his forehead and...

"You," I said in disbelief to the redhead.

"I know I know." The redhead smiles widely before saying, "I'm a genius. You can tell me now."

"You stole this from naruto," I accused her.

"Ugh," Rias winces at my accusation before saying, "I prefer the term modified, inspired and implemented more efficiently and safely."

I couldn't believe her lack of shame.

"It's exactly the same and without any modification," I say with my gaze boring into her. "And what's the risk of putting a leaf on your forehead? Your safest method doesn't make sense."

*Cough*, "Umm, these are just technical details, Moto-sensei," said Rias, looking away.

And everyone in the club laughed at their king's childish moments.

With my knowledge of evil pieces, I was probably the second most knowledgeable of devils' physiology, second only to Ajuka.

Unfortunately I couldn't imitate the power of imagination without losing my humanity. A human's brain and soul did not have the capacity to use this power.

As strange as it may seem... Their training would work. Not because they follow the same logic as naruto.

Demonic energy is very different from naruto's chakra...

But because the power of imagination is very flexible and adapts according to the devil's imagination and will.

They would be improving their demonic energy controls just because of their cheats called power of imagination.

*Sigh*

This world really is unfair to humans.
