On top of a tall building, as the sun's light shines, Xiu Ye sat crosslegged, already recovering his soul power, he observed to the current situation of Skysea City.
His steel hawk eyes scanned through the streets and saw it all perfectly: as his eyesight could reach as far as three-km away and in clear detail, to the point of counting every tiny pebble in the street even at his maxed eyesight.
Right now, the area of three kilometers around him is completely clear of any undead and evil soul masters.
Still, Xiu Ye continued on observing the streets as he listened in to the reports of Tang Sect Battle Hall agents through his earpiece.
"Qian district, the public shelter area, is now secured."
"Zhao district, secured."
"Xie district, secured."
"The entire south area of the city is now properly secured, now beginning to secure the other areas of the city."
He narrowed his eyes and continued on listening.
"...Special agents Xu Xiaoyan, Ye Xinglan and Xu Lizhi found another group of survivors and are now heading towards the plaza..."
"....Special agent Mu Xi is currently engaged in a battle against two ghouls with Soul Ancestor cultivation base..."
"....The Federation is now available in reinforcing us but Spirit Pagoda seems to be preoccupied with a swarm of over ten thousand undead, consists of both types, completely surrounding their base. It also reported that a being called a ghoul general is there as well leading the undead army..."
'Looks like everything is progressing well~' Tianguo cheerfully said through their mental link.
'She isn't wrong. Just within a few hours, Tang Sect and the Federation is steadily pushing back the evil soul masters and killing the undead.' Ryūjin Jakka appeared standing besides Xiu Ye. Though he remains invisible to others except for the latter.
Xiu Ye eyes turned back to its normal golden color. He shook his head and said, "That's the problem. We're pushing back the evil soul masters and they haven't do anything big in retaliation. This just doesn't make any sense. With how numerous and powerful Tang Sect, the Federation and other secret organizations still operational in the city, just how did the city easily end up how it currently is? Just losing this city's top experts' ability to act against the evil soul masters, shouldn't be enough to have the city fall so easily."
'Isn't it because they were just caught off guard, which ended up them being unprepared in dealing against an invasion of a thousand evil soul masters and a zombie outbreak?' Tianguo said.
"As well as for the fact that these undead is stronger than any average soul masters and the officials were busy evacuating the city's populace, all would be enough for the evil soul masters to easily take control of the city in just a few hours. Ye, aren't you just overthinking this?" Ryūjin Jakka said with a raised eyebrow.
'Yeah Ye, lighten up.' Tianguo lazily yawned. 'Besides, don't you have the information where they're hiding at from that Xie Xie guy? You just have to gather an army from both Tang Sect and the Federation, possibly even Spirit Pagoda if you decide to go and help them, and storm their base. No matter if Na Nali manage to breakthrough to the Titled Douluo realm, she still wouldn't be able to kill an entire, probably.'
She hummed, 'Though with her martial soul and aoe soul skills, that little girl would be able to take on an army. But if you sacrificed a few guys in a suicide bombing.... ah, but she would also use her own underlings as her own shield. Hmm. This girl is a pain in the ass, how troublesome.'
Xiu Ye chuckled, amused at what his second spirit soul was saying.
Even though Tianguo looks a lot younger than Na Nali, true age wise, she does have the right to call the latter a 'little girl'.
He narrowed his eyes, spotting a lone zombie burst out of window glass of a thrift store several blocks out due east; looking both frenzied and hungry with its snarling expression as it looked around, trying to find a living human to eat.
The zombie, and others more like it, were like the ones from Train to Busan!
His eyes changed back to its steel silver color as he stood up from his position. He took a stance and traced a nameless black, iron long bow in his left hand.
Taking a small breath of air, Xiu Ye raised his right hand up and traced a nameless rank E noble phantasm broadsword and used an advanced technique of Reinforcement called Alteration to alter its shape into an arrow.
He pulled the steel string of the black bow as he nocked the sword-arrow back, aiming it straight towards where his intended target is at as he stood completely still.
He waited for a moment, the wind brushing against his face and blowing his hair back, making it seem as though it was spiked.
For a moment, for a single moment, instead of Xiu Ye standing with his bow and sword-arrow ready to strike an undead, a different person stood in place.
Though it soon disappeared as if it were an illusion as Xiu Ye fired, sending the sword-arrow flying towards the zombie; the air split and distorted as the arrow travelled across several blocks in a split second, before hitting perfectly straight to the undead's head, killing it in an instant.
"It's just, it seems too easy." He shook his head as he lowered his bow and detraced it into specks of blue light. "I don't know. I just have a bad feeling about this."
Though, it wasn't really easy...
His steel eyes stared unblinkingly at the chaotic city sounding out explosions and he heard through his reinforced ears the cries of unfortunate humans, begging for help.
'I wonder, is this what superman feels when he's in a war torn country?' He thought as he clenched his fists tight. His cold steel eyes blazed golden once more as he thought about the person responsible for this.
'Na Nali, I'm going to kill you. Just you wait!'
Xiu Ye narrowed his eyes and said out loud, "So, are you going to show yourselves or do I have to force you all to do so?" As he turned around.
It was silent for a moment before four black cloaked figures appeared standing in front of him. All of them had their hoods on, hiding their identities, with the exception of the soul rings around them.
All of them had four soul rings with the same ring configuration: two yellow and two purple.
They stood in front of him without saying a word but the killing intent surrounding them that was aimed at him was clear, they wanted to kill him.
'Assassins? Evil soul masters?' Feeling the killing intent that surrounded them, which felt so evil and dark compared to the killing intent shown by other normal soul masters like Wu Zhangkong, made Xiu Ye certain that these people were evil soul masters.
He wasn't really surprised in seeing assassins coming after him, Na Nali seemed like the type to hold a grudge after all. It would have surprised him if she hadn't.
It was for a moment, but the group of evil soul master assassins instantly noticed Xiu Ye was distracted and they immediately leaped towards him with the intent to kill.
They all had different martial souls. One showed he had big obsidian colored claws that looked like it could easily tear through iron and a feline tail, while two of them had similar martial souls of a crimson edged scimitar and the last one had an evil looking bo staff.
They were an impressive sight, as they all moved as one and aimed their attacks to hit each of Xiu Ye vital area of his body.
It seemed as though he was about to get killed, as he continued standing there with a calm look on his face.
Because, why would he fluster against a group of ants? He had stood face to face against their leader, a Soul Douluo. He fought in martial arts against his teacher, a Soul Emperor at the time, and won!
Does a group of Soul Ancestors, really think that they could kill him?
"Know your place, mongrels." A flash of cyan light sparked on air on both of his sides and two C-rank nameless noble phantasm swords with the holy-attribute appeared, pointing its deadly tip towards two of the assassins.
As for the remaining two? "Are you coming out, or what?" Xiu Ye called out, further shocking his would be killers/turned victims.
There was someone here besides them?! They all thought and tried to find where this person was hiding.
Suddenly, two of the assassins with similar martial souls felt a cold chill running down their back. Behind them in the air, space distorted as a familiar black haired girl came out with very, very familiar blue spinning balls of destruction on both of her hands. It also radiated with holy brilliance.
"Hmph. I just wanted to see how well you'll fair against these small fries, ah, but I guess they were a bit too much for you huh?" She teasingly said as she brought the two wind and light mixed elemental balls towards the back of the evil soul masters.
They tried to run away from her but it was too late. They let out ear piercing screams of pain as their backs caved and ruptured; their spine and other internal organs destroyed.
They dropped down dead.
The other two were frightened so much in shock at the deaths of their comrades that they weren't been able to dodged the two swords flying towards them, puncturing their hearts and killing them.
Not as if they could dodge it anyway, if they did noticed them...
Xiu Ye coldly stared at the dead bodies before turning to quirked an eyebrow at an approaching Gu Yue, "What are you complaining for? If I didn't told you to come out, you would be sulking in a corner because you weren't able to join in killing them."
"Bleh!" Gu Yue stuck out her tongue and giggled. Her long black hair tied into a ponytail float around by the breeze of the wind, making her look cute and lovely.
Xiu Ye shook his head, "What are you doing here Gu Yue? I thought you were heading towards where Wulin was stationed at?"
Gu Yue's expression turned serious, "That's why I'm here Ye, Wulin is in trouble."
Xiu Ye's face turned flat.
'Yup, main protagonist alright...'
