Capítulo 14: Let her be complacent

Veronica was lost for a moment before she realized what this was about. So it was because of that necklace!

'Humph! To think she had been ignoring her all this time just because of such a small matter, truly too petty' Veronica thought but she still reluctantly apologized to her sister. She still needed Nicole for a lot more things so she couldn't let this cold war go on for too long.

If her sister didn't listen to her and told their parents all the things she had done behind their backs she would be in deep trouble. Also where else could she find such a useful lackey?

Nicole accepted the apology with a cheerful grin on her face.

She held her sister's hand her face the picture of relief and happiness. As Veronica watched this she sneered inwardly.

Nicole just didn't match the Reyna family genes.

Every single Reyna is a prodigy, a dragon among men with a quick mind and great skills but this wasn't the case with Nicole.

She was hopeless with people! Her communication skills were practically zero and she was extremely gullible to boot.

You would think that with that kind of childish mind she wouldn't have any great talent but it was the exact opposite.

Nicole had great talent beyond anything the family had ever seen. Her dedication was also unparalleled so she progressed faster than most others. Talent without hard work wouldn't get you far.

A lazy person with talent is nothing to fear but a talented person who also works hard is truly a nightmare.

This was exactly what Nicole was. What would take others months to master she would do in a month.

Still, with all that talent, she couldn't put it to good use!

Their parents didn't even know about Nicole's talent courtesy of Veronica. Veronica had told Nicole to hide her talent from her parents so they would be all the more proud and surprised when she showcased her talent, and as gullible as Nicole was, she believed her.

From then on whenever Nicole did something she would only do it to fifty percent of her capability. This slowly became a habit that she could never get rid of.

In the end, she was never able to bring out her full talent again no matter how hard she tried, and Veronica had successfully eliminated the only thing that could threaten her position; her sister's talent.

As Veronica was thinking this, Nicole thoughts were also whirling.

Nicole had initially not wanted to even put on a pretense of civility with her sister but then the realization of something struck her like lightening.

Nicole had just realized Veronica had been able to fool her entire family! Even their grandfather who had seen so much of the world couldn't see through Veronica how more the dim-witted her.

If she was going to stop Veronica this time she couldn't let her become weary of her or she might get deceived again.

'Let's let her be complacent a little longer' Nicole thought as a famous quote reverberated through her mind; Keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer!
