Capítulo 211: At least one of them knows how to handle the situation

"...whew… the city was the other way…"

She then leaned over to the side, attempting to peek behind the remaining parts of the mansion, grabbed her necklace, pulled it away from her neck as if it was scalding her, and breathed out to herself.

"I believe now it's alright."

The Royal Magician muttered to himself, and the entire barrier, along with the people and furniture inside, floated down to the ground level before dissipating.

"Greetings, Lady Melinda. It's an honor."

"Likewise, Lord Nathaniel. Although I must say that I would appreciate our meeting more if it wasn't a result of an abduction."

Lord Oalc stepped forward and was the first to welcome the gold-haired girl, who curtsied in response before gracing her father and commander Beo with scornful and agitated glare.

"If you have time, I will gladly entertain you with a conversation, but first, I need to see to my older brother's lesson in manners. Unfortunately, that coward seems to be hiding."

Melinda looked back at Nathaniel Oalc and smiled before turning her disgusted glare towards the ruins of the mansion.

"In this case, I must attempt to defend my former student's honor. You see, he is knocked out with a mana depletion."

"Please, hold the jests. Depleting all of one's mana doesn't lead to any consequences. Not that the little friendly fist-bump I gave him could take any significant amount of his reserves. in the first place."

The Royal Magician bowed his head while saying apologetically, making the gold-haired girl scoff at him.

"The standard of no side effects being present is created solely with an average person in mind. Even with them, the effects are present, albeit minuscule. But in the case of Lazurii Fenrioette, one cannot talk about average when it comes to mana pool's capacity and the consequences of its depletion."

Olac lowered his head and hinted at the answer with his griefing smile.

"..."

"To further ease your doubt, let this one just demonstrate…"

Seeing the complete lack of change in the girl's sharp glare, the man added, flicking his finger toward the ruined mansion.

The next moment the debris stirred up and and a limp body of a tall blue-haired individual with foam slowly trickling out from the corners of his mouth floated over and began to hover between the mage and the gold-haired girl.

"As you can see, he wasn't harmed in a physical sense."

"That does seem to be the case."

Oalc pointed out, carefully gauging the girl's reaction, but once again, he might as well observe a rock.

"That said. Duke Fenrioette. I am disheartened and disappointed. You directly promised me that the family would not interfere with my decision. Since that part was so quickly proven to be an utter lie, I am forced to assume that the part about me being welcomed back anytime is the same."

"...you know that's not true…"

Melinda let out a long sigh before turning to her father and declaring, making him tense and speak up with a face full of regrets. He stopped himself and then began speaking again, unable to find the right words.

Truth be told, in that case, there was no correct option for him to choose…

"...I do apologize for destroying the land like that, though…"

"...!"

Melinda ended up furrowing her brows and looking to the side as she grumbled, causing her father to perk up with hopeful expression.

"Don't worry about that, Your Grace. This one will take up the mantle of the teacher and once more teach his former students proper spells to reconstruct the scenery as part of his atonement. If we're lucky, the monster spawning grounds will not return, and the area will be able to develop into a prosperous region."

The Royal Magician hurriedly stepped forward and announced.

"...mmhm…"

Melinda nodded with a somber hum, discreetly taking out her adventurer's card and checking her Kill Log. Tens of thousands of new entries were added, and not all of them were for monsters.

"...isn't it upsetting how fragile this world is…?"

"!!!"

The gold-haired girl let out a bitter sigh, thinking she was discrete about it, but unbeknownst to her, the Royal Magician straightened his back and tensed up so much that he trembled.

Clearly, in response to what has been said.

"If you allow, this one will send you right back to the spot where you were teleported from, Your Grace."

"That would be much appreciated."

Oalc offered, and Melinda took him up on it without bothering to say another word to Duke Fenrioette.

Then, the gold-haired girl ended up disappearing in the flash of a pale blue light.

As the glow faded and the gust of wind from the newly appeared wasteland blew past the only three conscious beings in tens of thousands of miles of radius, the Royal Magician of the Diamondium Kingdom slouched as his body began to tremble uncontrollably.

It was to the degree that he had to crouch down and grab his own knees like a swaying athlete who went far beyond their limits and was about to pass out from exhaustion.

"...Sir Oalc, if you don't mind, are you able to estimate how much of my son's mana was used to defend against the attack that my daughter called a fist bump…?"

"Basic check-up, visualize."

Brynhild Fenrioette cleared his throat and asked the Royal Magician, who immediately cast a spell on Lazurii, causing a floating pale-blue window to appear over the unconscious body.

There were no numerical values there, but each stat was displayed in the form of a differently colored bar.

Only one of those bars appeared not to be entirely filled up.

"...one fourth was used… maybe two seventh… Perseverance almighty…"

Beo muttered, feeling faint to the point where Brynhild had to support him.

"On the bright side… I don't think this was actually a playful tap as she suggested…"

Oalc slowly straightened his back and breathed out before saying in a shaky voice.

"...that said, I never imagined Lazurii being that stupid… What was he thinking?"

"The same thing that I did. That he was always Melinda's favorite, so she would at least let him explain himself first."

Oalc shook his head, looking down on the blue-haired youth, getting his answer from the remorseful Duke Fenrioette.
