Capítulo 14: Chapter 14: William Cole, are you trying to rebel?!

Archie Dawn's expression was indifferent. He glanced at everyone in the hall, "I've gathered you all here today for an essential matter, and that is about the construction of Sunshine Community."

"Sunshine Community?"

Valerie Dawn and Elsie Dawn were caught off-guard, unable to understand.

"Dad! Has the Sunshine Community project been approved?" Maxim Lawson asked repeatedly.

Sunshine Community was the largest real estate project in Midocen city in the past year.

The community was planned to be developed with hospitals, schools, shopping squares, subway and other transportation facilities in its vicinity, ensuring that residents would have everything they needed.

Just for the land of Sunshine Community, a whopping ten billion in bidding was made.

A total of six commercial buildings were to be constructed. More than a dozen real estate companies participated in bidding, including the one owned by Archie Dawn.

If they obtained the Sunshine Community project, the assets of Dawn family's real estate company could double, even solidify the company's leading position in Midocen's property market.

So, this project meant a lot."

"Yes, Maxim, you do understand the importance of Sunshine Community, right?" Archie glanced at Maxim Lawson.

"Of course, I do! Dad, I have been preparing bid materials for this over the past year, committed to securing this great deal! Dad, leave this bidding task to me!" Maxim Lawson thumped his chest, oozing confidence.

Valerie Dawn immediately kicked her husband under the table.

Eddie Brews instantly realized that if Maxim managed to take on this bidding task, Maxim might likely become the successor to the Dawn family's business.

After all, Archie Dawn could only choose a successor from his three sons-in-law, Eddie Brews, Maxim Lawson, and William Cole.

As William Cole was null and void, he could never be the heir of the Dawn family.

"Dad, I can do it too! I've prepared lots of materials over the past year as well," Eddie Brews quickly added.

"Haha, okay, then at tomorrow's bidding conference, you two can go and represent your respective companies. If the bid is successful, the parent company will provide backup support." Archie Dawn smiled contentedly. It was about time to let his two sons-in-law compete.

Eddie Brews and Maxim Lawson glanced at each other, a flicker of rivalry in their eyes.

Just as this matter was about to be finalized, William Cole stood up, "Dad, Mom, I want to try too!"

Whoosh!

Instantly, all eyes from the Dawn family landed on William Cole.

"You want to try? What do you think you're doing? William, do you know anybody in the real estate industry in Midocen?" Maxim Lawson burst out.

He thought that William was only trying to create chaos out of spite.

"Do you have any connections?"

"Are you even qualified?"

"Do you know any bosses?"

"Can you secure investors?"

"You don't understand anything, you didn't even finish middle school. Do you even know how to write ABCD? Do you speak English?"

"You want to try? Do you think this is a child's play? That you can just participate if you feel like it?"

With every word Maxim spoke, he aggressively took a step toward William.

He leaned in and pointed his finger at William's chest.

Ultimately, Maxim's nose was almost touching William's nose.

The two of them glared at each other, creating an intense atmosphere.

"Stop it! William, what are you trying? Go back!" Archie Dawn yelled.

"William, what are you doing? Go back immediately and stop messing around," Ruth said. Although she too wanted to bid, her company was too weak. There was no way it could compete with the companies that Maxim Lawson and Eddie Brews controlled.

If they went to bid, it would only lead to self-humiliation.

Thus, even Ruth thought William was just messing around.

"Honey, how will we know if there's a chance if we don't even try? Let me do the talking!" William turned back to glance at Ruth.

Ruth was stunned. She gazed at William's retreating figure.

At this moment, it seemed like she didn't know William.

What was going on? It seemed like everything about William had changed since last night.

He had become confident and strong, no longer a coward.

It was also the first time he had stood in front of her.

'Should I give him a chance, and hold off our intended divorce?' Ruth pondered. She had planned to divorce William right after leaving her parents' house. She had all the necessary documents, including the marriage certificate, identification cards, and the household registration book.

"Dad, I want to try, why won't you give me a chance?

Even if you don't give me one, doesn't Ruth deserve one too?

You need to maintain equilibrium. Even if you don't regard me as a son-in-law, isn't Ruth still your daughter?" argued William.

The Dawn family was stunned.

When did William become so eloquent?

"Watch your mouth!" Archie Dawn yelled furiously, "Are you accusing me of favoritism?"

"Isn't that the case?" William replied, neither obsequious nor supercilious.

"What did you just say?

William Cole, are you rebelling?" Archie Dawn slapped the table, rising furiously as he glared at William.
