Nicolás's eyes were on her watching intently.
He hadn't thought the first sight of her would hit him so hard but it had, it had slammed into him snatching the breath out of him and causing his chest to ache.
He'd missed her, it was a painful realization.
He took note of all of the things different with her, the crinkles on her forehead that he longed to run his fingers over to smoothen, the way she seemed to have lost so much weight, the bags under her eyes, the sadness in them, and finally, they way her body perked up at the sight of him but mostly what he noticed was the way his own body reacted to her. His heart was racing, the shiver that ran down his spine, and the way moisture had dried up from his tongue.
"Finally, I was beginning to think you'd never come home."
He said to her and he watched her flinch slightly at the coldness she must have felt in his voice. It didn't please him in the slightest, he'd thought it would.
Would it ever get better? Would he ever learn how to love someone this much without bringing himself to complete insanity?
