"Why…" her voice shook with the pain that gutted her wrench at Francesca's words. She knew he hated her but maybe before now, her head hadn't been able to comprehend the extent of his hate.

"Why does he hate me so much?" 

Francesca looked at her with disbelieving eyes. "You really do not know?" She asked.

Annalise shook her head slowly.

"He's jealous of you, Astrid! Luca has always been jealous of you even when he didn't know you were alive, he was jealous of your memory. All his life he has remained in competition with you and even more so now."

She gaped. "What?"

Francesca shook her head. "You are your parent's golden child and to some extent, it was like he never existed for them." She chuckled. "You know during your kidnap, you were reported as the heiress, yes, they completely forgot Luca existed."
