Chapter 75: The Boy Who Loves Creating Miracles!

The baseball soared into the outfield bleachers.

Several fans in the stands rushed toward where the ball landed, creating a moment of chaos.

However, at that moment, the players from both teams, along with the rest of the spectators, were too captivated by what had just happened to pay attention to the commotion.

They were all stunned, staring at the calm and collected boy in the batter's box.

"I remember, he's..."

A fan hesitated, stopping short of completing his thought.

But even without words, the fans around him understood what he implied, as they shared a similar line of thinking.

In their minds, Furuya wasn't regarded as an especially formidable batter.

Although Furuya could send the ball flying a long distance due to his exceptional strength, that was pretty much it.

A player known for being erratic couldn't possibly be labeled as a superb batter, right?

Yet, the player known for his inconsistency had just cleanly hit a home run, helping Seidou High School increase their lead by two runs.

The score was now 4:0!

With such a large gap, even the most confident players and supporters of Kokai U Sagara High School knew deep down that their chances of a comeback were slim.

Even if Seidou did not change pitchers and let their ace finish the game, Kokai U Sagara had no hopes left.

"That hit was devastating!"

In the stands, a player from Inashiro Industrial, who had come to watch this game, felt their fighting spirit surge.

Not long ago, they had defeated Seidou High School's baseball team on the field.

As one of the top three powerhouses in West Tokyo, Inashiro Industrial's players never thought Seidou posed a significant threat to them this year.

The main reason was the disparity between the teams' aces.

Their ace was Narumiya Mei, and Inashiro's players could confidently boast that their ace was the best.

Not just in Tokyo—across the nation, they'd make the same guarantee.

As for Seidou High's ace, his pitching was nothing to write home about, and not being a hindrance was considered fortunate.

The significant difference in ace capabilities provided Inashiro Industrial with their biggest confidence.

But now, the situation seemed to change subtly.

A monstrous first-year from Seidou suddenly emerged, not only throwing pitches over 150 km/h but also with exceptional pitching quality.

His pitching, in harmony with Seidou High School's overall strength, was a perfect match.

Facing such an opponent, Inashiro couldn't afford to be anything less than fully prepared.

And that's not all—the same monstrous first-year from Seidou was also formidable at bat.

Though he was somewhat unpredictably inconsistent, showing an unstable performance—

To date, Furuya had secured two home runs and five RBIs for Seidou.

Given this, even as erratic as Seidou's player was, his presence could not be ignored.

In Seidou High's dugout, the players exchanged looks of disbelief.

They had considered the possibility that Furuya might hit the ball out of the park...

But when they imagined it, it was more wishful thinking.

Oda was a skilled pitcher; his pitches weren't easily hit.

But when it actually happened, it dawned on Seidou's sophomore and junior players what had occurred.

"We poured our hearts and souls into scraping together two runs!"

Isashiki felt a pang of envy and disbelief.

"And here he is, effortlessly sending the ball out and scoring two as well."

The senior players of Seidou High School's baseball team had their pride.

If it were in other areas, it might be easier to accept...

But facing a monster like Furuya, even if their skills didn't quite measure up, they could handle that.

However, batting was where they had unparalleled confidence.

If they lost in this aspect too, the second and third-year players from Seidou High School might jokingly consider buying some tofu and ending it all.

"It's just a coincidence!"

Coach Kataoka seemed to sense the frustration within his players and stepped in to address it.

"Coach!"

Facing their questioning looks, Coach Kataoka refrained from further explanations.

And, truly, what if it was just a coincidence?

Furuya had sent the ball out of the park, helping the team secure two more runs. That was a fact.

"He's not mature yet, but with proper training, he has the potential to become a monster at the plate, too," Coach Kataoka mused to himself.

The second and third-year players in the dugout felt as if something was stuck in their throats, feeling utterly stifled.

Ota, the team Director, further added fuel to the fire.

"Even if it was just a coincidence, Furuya managed two home runs with five RBIs. He's practically a miracle boy!"

The team had seen talented players making their mark straight out of high school over the years, but none like Furuya.

In the Kanto Tournament, he hadn't allowed a single run or hit. Such dominance they had never heard of.

Moreover, he scored two home runs in a game.

If such a player isn't called a miracle, then who is?

The senior players of Seidou High School were numbed—I suppose they realized that being part of the same team, perhaps they shouldn't have tried to compete with this outstanding first-year since the start.

While the game continued, the remaining time felt meaningless.

Everyone understood that, in essence, this game had already reached its conclusion.

Even the strongly determined players of Kokai U Sagara High School recognized this fact.

Oda tenaciously achieved two outs, wrapping up the top of the eighth inning.

But it was futile.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Seidou's ace Tanba seemed to have rediscovered his vitality, effortlessly securing outs.

Ultimately, the heart of Kokai U Sagara's lineup went down in order.

"Ah!"

On the pitcher's mound, Tanba let out a rare roar of triumph.

It seemed he had finally shrugged off the dark clouds hanging over him.

At that moment, Seidou High School appeared to be back on its peak.

The reigning champions, Seidou, were back!

As fans in the stands cheered for Tanba's regained form, a player from Inashiro Industrial let out a cold snort.

"Looks like Tanba-san got lucky."
