Capítulo 2: CHAPTER 2

As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching us. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end, a primal instinct warning me of danger. I started looking around my surroundings trying to spot the hidden danger. My whole body shaking involuntarily, I looked towards Famine to see her smirking at me.

"What is it, Who is it!"

From the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow appear between the thicker of trees. As fast as it appeared it disappeared. My heart pounded as I tried to keep a calm facade despite wanting my brain screaming alarm bells in my head . It was then I noticed the air growing colder and the shadows lengthening unnaturally.

"Who is it?" I sounded out loud looking for an explanation while keeping my calm.

Famine smirk widened and her eyes flashed with a sinister light. " You'll know soon enough", replying cryptically.

Before I could press her further, the shadow emerged from the darkness, revealing a tall, gaunt figure cloaked in black. The air seemed to grow especially heavier with each step it took. An overwhelming sense of dread took over me.

"Ah Death," Famine said, almost cheerfully. "Right on time!"

The dark figure stood a few feet from us, its hollow eyes directly staring into mine. "Sister", it said with a raspy whisper, sending chills down my spine.

Her attire was a simple long robe that covered her entire body only leaving a small slit down the middle. With a rare breeze getting blown in from Hell, her cloak shifted revealing her bare chest. Where I saw a column of mouths, four to be exact, covering her chest.

I blinked in confusion at first, but realized I felt the same connection to her as I did to Famine.

"Yes", replied Famine, her smirk softening into something akin to a caring smile. "Meet Death, our sister. And soon you meet the other."

As if I'm cue, one more figure stepped out from the shadows. She was a tall, regal woman with an air of authority, her eyes burning with a fierce intensity.

"War", Famine introduced, gesturing towards the regal women.

I stood there contemplating, as the three sisters reunited before me. "So, you're all…"

"Yes", Death responded, her voice more softer now. "We are the Four Horsemen and you dear sister with your arrival. Now complete our hellish quartet."

This confirmed my suspicions that we were related. Ever since meeting Famine I had this feeling that I knew who she was, and I knew who these three were even though I had never met them before. However, the name given to us sounded grand, "The four Horsemen," I repeated with a confident tone of sensuality.

These intrinsic memories were a mystery to me. They appeared to pop up randomly in my head, but I noticed they show up when there is something I should know.

"How do I have knowledge of you three?" I wanted answers.

"Ohh you must be talking about the weird memories that pop up when you first get here?" Famine answered nonchalantly. "Those are your innate memories that come with being a devil. Sadly they don't fill you on everything, just enough for you to get by in Hell. It ingrains who you are, what you are, and those related to you by fate, like us"

Death the most enigmatic followed with "The four us are sisters by Law and that's all you need to know. We need to get moving", leaving no space for argument.

I didn't know why everyone turned so serious, but I saw urgency appear on their faces. I didn't question anything and just followed along.

I didn't know how long we had been moving, but we finally stopped.

"What was that about?" I asked the three of them. It had been so weird to reunite and having to move along.

"As devils it is in our nature to hunt one another to get stronger, typically the older one is the stronger they are since they would imbody bigger fears. Back then I had sensed the dark one approaching at our previous location" Death replied.

"If that's the case couldn't you kill him," saying as if it was the most obvious solution. After all Death is humanity's biggest fear.

Death's eyes narrowed slightly as she prepared to explain. "It's not that simple," she continued "in Hell, the strength of a devil is determined by the fear their names invokes among humans. The more feared the concepts, the stronger the devil. This hierarchy is fluid and ever changing, as human fears change over time, but one can also get stronger by eating the flesh of a far stronger devil. That is why I am the most hunted in this place"

She paused, allowing the weight of her words to sink in before continuing. "At the top of this hierarchy are the primal devils, like the dark one. They embody fundamental fears that have existed since the dawn of humanity, such as myself. Our power is immense and often incomprehensible."

"Then there are the more common devils, like the wolf devil, who represent specific fears. These devils are strong, but they are not on the same level as the Primal Devils."

Famine chimed in, "And don't forget about the fiends and demons. Fiends are devils that have taken over human corpses, while demons are strictly born on earth from negative emotions, not fears. They are not the same as us."

Death nodded in agreement. "Exactly and while I am indeed a powerful devil, representing the ultimate fear of death, there are still some that can challenge me. The dark one I sensed is one such being, but I would not be able to guarantee your guy's safety."

I absorbed all this information, realizing just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Even the strongest devils can be vulnerable if they underestimate their opponents.

Time passed in a blur as I traveled with my newfound sisters, learning more about my powers and our shared existence traversing Hell. Traveling its twisted landscapes, killing other weaker devils who stood in our way, and slowly learning the preexisting parameters of the form I've awoken in.

I discovered from my innate abilities that I could control anyone I thought to be weaker than myself. I could manipulate others' actions, bend their wills to my desires, and instill a sense of obedience in those around me. I experimented my powers on weaker devils testing the limits of their freedom under my control.

Our life traversing Hell was harsh and unforgiving. We moved constantly, never staying in one place for too long. The threat of other primal devils hunting us was ever-present, and we had to remain vigilant at all times. Despite the constant danger, there was a sense of camaraderie among us. We were bound by fate, and that bond gave us strength.

One day, as we rested in a secluded cave, I turned to Death with a question that had been nagging at me. "Why do we keep moving? Can't we find a place to settle down and defend ourselves? We can have a horde of devils at our beck and call anytime with me or Famine. We have War who is very powerful in her own right, and you the ultimate fear. "

Death looked at me with a mixture of pride and sadness. "In Hell, there is no safe haven. The moment we stop moving, we become bigger targets. The way to stay together is to stay ahead of the hunt. Once one of them catches me off guard I can't protect you three at the same time, they'll kill you and you'll go to the human world as a new person and I don't want that." Sounding quite sentimental towards the end of it.

It was weird. The strongest of us was also the most emotionally vulnerable. I couldn't imagine my two other sisters saying something like that. I couldn't say that. In my head, perhaps from past experience or some psychic intuition, I knew you should never let your mask slip around others.

As her words sank in, a chilling sound echoed through the cave.

Drip

Plop

Drip

Plop

I turned towards the source of the sound to see a stalagmite in the corner, dark liquid slowly oozing from its tip. The liquid pooled on the ground, forming a shadow that began to take shape.

The Darkness Devil or as Death called it the dark one, emerged slowly from the shadow, his form coalescing into a figure of pure malevolence. His multiple sets of eyes glowed with an eerie light as he regarded us with a predatory smile.

"Did you really think you could escape me?" he hissed, his voice sinister whispering from all directions.

Death immediately stepped forward, her face showing determination. "Get out of here" she commanded, her tone leaving no room for argument.
